Pain Tank Releasing New Album “97,901,726 Confirmed Kills”

Washington, DC area hardcore grind outfit Pain Tank is preparing to mercilessly deploy the “97,901,726 Confirmed Kills” album in March, having tested one of the album’s deadly wares on the public with a stream of “Starvation Cockhard” below.

Pain Tank was formed in 2016 as a side project for its four members, who also hold rank in the likes of Construct Of Lethe, Palkoski, Cammo Shorts and Reticle; the project rapidly became a focused, permanent act which ventures into musical and lyrical territory not explored with those other bands.

Debut recorded “97,901,726 Confirmed Kills” was recorded live at Trepan Studios in Woodbridge, Virginia over the course of eight hours. The band felt it necessary to capture the intensity and aggression of a live performance, which can easily get lost in more conventional studio tracking. Due out March 17th via the band’s own independent Edgewood Arsenal Records, the track listing is as follows:

1. Uniform Shitshow
2. Dollar Sign Suicide
3. The Mouth That Doesn’t Open
4. A Sheep Just Like the Rest
5. Tropicamide
6. Starvation Cockhard
7. Driving Back the Occupier
8. A Need for Violence
9. The Void and All Its Temptations
10. Decommissioned Oppression State
11. When Integrity Means Death
12. It Doesn’t Know What Else to Do
13. Barcodes and Byproducts

Down Returning To The Stage For Psycho Las Vegas

After cancelling some shows due to the outrage over the white power outburst and Pepper going full force with COC, Philip Anslemo recently addressed the future of Down at the Diamond Pub Concert Hall in Louisville, Kentucky.

“I think between myself, Patrick Bruders and one James Bower from EyeHateGod… We haven’t seen much of Pepper, because he’s obviously been busy with COC. That’s the freedom that rock and roll brings. So, yeah, we’re all kind of doing our own things but we always come back together because Black Sabbath, Trouble and Saint Vitus bring us back together, and that’s where we started from, you know what I’m saying?”

Down has now confirmed to play the Psycho Las Vegas music festival taking place at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, August 26th-28th 2016. More info can be found here. There are no other confirmed shows at the moment.

You can check out an audio recording of some of the Anselmo question-and-answer session in Louisville by listening to the “Talk Toomey” podcast at this location.

Psalm Zero Announces Debut Release “Force My Hand”

NYC-based duo Psalm Zero will release a debut 7″ single entitled “Force My Hand” on November 19th. The following press release was also issued about the band:

“Psalm Zero is comprised of guitarist Andrew Hock, of acclaimed black metal band Castevet, and bassist Charlie Looker, of recently-disbanded art-rock cult heroes Extra Life. The two musicians construct a wall of drum machines, programming and synth gear and electronics in studio and onstage and both contribute equally to the vocal delivery to carry out their musical vision.

“The grave aesthetics of Queens/Long Island-based Psalm Zero’s songs unify a variety of diverse influences; the industrial coldness of Godflesh and Big Black, the dissonant guitar atmospheres and tortured screams of experimental black metal, and the dark, melodic song-craft of Dead Can Dance and the Cure seemingly flow as one. Hock’s guttural, barked vocals and Looker’s clean singing play equally important leading roles.

“To fans of both musicians’ previous works, Psalm Zero will sound like the perfect synthesis of these two already idiosyncratic bands. The Force My Hand single’s B-side features a cover of ‘Willpower,’ the brutal 1994 classic by noise-rock/metal titans Today is the Day. Psalm Zero completely re-envisions and performs the song as an experimental neo-folk dirge, with delicate acoustic guitars, orchestral percussion, synth drones, and Medieval vocal harmonies.

“The Force My Hand 7″ will see release on Looker’s own Last Things Records on November 19th; music, preorders and more will be available shortly. Psalm Zero will celebrate this release in Brooklyn on November 22 at 285 Kent with Kayo Dot and Vaura, among several other confirmed performances throughout New York City. Further live engagements will be announced in the coming weeks.”

9/14/2013 Bowery Electric – New York, NY w/ Kayo Dot, Ahleuchatistas
10/30/2013 The Acheron – Brooklyn, NY w/ Lussuria, Vain Warr
11/22/2013 285 Kent – Brooklyn, NY – 7″ record release show w/ Kayo Dot, Vaura

The “Force My Hand” track listing is:

A. Force My Hand
B. Willpower
