Today the band drops new crusher “Cold Confines,” which can be heard below, and the band comments: “‘Cold Confines’ speaks to the imperfection of the human machine and the self-destructive nature of one’s self.

“There is a separation of the body and mind and a simple beauty in decay. Musically, Cold Confines exemplifies Planet Eater’s evolution, melding melody with a percussive mayhem casting the song itself into a dark and menacing tone.”

Mindkult Releasing “Lucifer’s Dream” Album

Stoner doom / shoegaze group Mindkult will release “Lucifer’s Dream” in CD, digital, and silver embossed box set formats this coming September 20th, 2017 via Transcending Obscurity Records. The label comments:

“Stepping out of the confines of what can be called doom, they are going back in time musically to create all over again raw, heavy and stoner-tinged music that oozes horror appeal and bears a soothing post-punk sensibility.

“Call it doom, stoner or even shoegaze, all of it is correct because it’s a distilled blend to forge a sound that Mindkult can call it its own. Nostalgic and dark, this is the band’s much-awaited debut full length that displays rare charisma and soulful expression.”

1. Drink My Blood
2. Nightmares
3. Behold the Wraith
4. Infernals
5. Howling Witch
6. Lucifer’s Dream

The Great Discord launches drum play-through for “Panasonic Youth” (The Dillinger Escape Plan cover) online

– February 8th, 2016 –

Having released two critically acclaimed albums last year (debut full-length, Duende, and EP, Echoes), Sweden’s The Great Discord is now launching a drum play-through for “Panasonic Youth“, originally recorded by The Dillinger Escape Plan. To watch Aksel Holmgren’s cover version of this Dillinger classic, head over to: youtube.com

Transcending genre labels and lazy classification, The Great Discord is a musical enigma. Their layered, textured music is inspired by the likes of Genesis, King Crimson, Meshuggah and The Dillinger Escape Plan – but at the same time, individually they look up to an array of musicians beyond the confines of progressive music. Described as “djent, thrash, doom, prog and black metal all rolled into one” (SkullsNBones.com), the quintet have left both media and fans awestruck at the talent and originality found on their two releases: Duende and Echoes. Duende, being The Great Discord‘s debut full-length, captivated listeners, with media boldly proclaiming it as a new “standard for progressive metal” (DeadRhetoric.com); the recently released Echoes EP expanded on their sound even further, with the band putting their spin on classics by The Mars Volta and The Deftones.
