Liverpool group Loathe has announced plans to release debut album, “The Cold Sun,” with SharpTone Records on April 14th. Today, the band releases new song and video, “Dance On My Skin” (available below), along with album pre-orders here.

“The Cold Sun” is a concept record; a compelling 35-minute-long meandering into the depths of a dark, post-apocalyptic tale. The record follows the adjacent timeline of two protagonists, who exist during a dystopian future, stricken by tragedy and the ever-looming apocalypse.

For this album, Loathe traveled to Glow In The Dark Studios in Atlanta, Georgia to record under the watchful eye of producer Matt McClellan (Underoath, The Devil Wears Prada, Being As An Ocean).

“Our writing process varies from song to song, but usually it takes one of us to have the initial vision for what we want to create. We then each add our own personal input which completes the piece,“ states Shayne Smith, when asked about the quintet’s approach.

Gale Releases Debut Album “Vol. 1”

Another new name surges forth from Arizona’s flourishing sludge/doom scene in the form of Gale as the outfit self-releases debut recording, “Vol. 1.”

The band’s moniker references the massive desert winds, a trait which the group attempts to exemplify with similarly devastating results through exceptionally loud craft. As per the band: “We play loud as fuck. This is rock n roll; it should be loud and dangerous.”

Burning with twenty-six minutes of material, Gale’s debut was recorded in nearly one take by Jalipaz Nelson at Audioconfusion in Mesa, Arizona. While not a concept record, the album and its lyrical basis primarily deals with existentialism and the darkness that can be revealed upon self-analysis.

Gale will forge a physical version of “Vol. 1” in the pending months, and the band has already begun the planning stages on additional new material which will see release through several new works throughout 2015. Catch the band live:

Sahg Album Seeing North American Release Via Metal Blade Records

Metal Blade Records has partnered up with Norway’s Indie Recordings to release albums from the label’s ever expanding roster.

Last year, Sahg released “Delusions of Grandeur” via Indie Recordings, and now Metal Blade will officially drop the album in North America on February 18th.

“Delusions Of Grandeur is a concept record about a person, whose delusions of grandeur escalate to the level where they consume him completely,” explains Sahg’s Olav Iversen (vocals, guitar). “From becoming increasingly psychopathic and dominant, he loses touch with everyone around him and isolates into his own imaginary, psychotic world, where he becomes the almighty ruler of the universe. As he stands on the highest peak of his domain and beholds all that he has conquered, he suddenly slips off the edge and floats away, weightless. Helpless and stripped of all power, he drifts further into the open space, until he disappears into the darkness. It’s an album about how desire for power and property can distort and destroy who we are.”

The full album is available for streaming below.

Sahg Posts “Delusions Of Granduer” Track By Track Video

Sahg has released the second part of track-by-track video from the “Delusions of Grandeur” album, which can be viewed below.

The concept record “Delusions of Grandeur” was released in October earlier this year via Indie Recordings. The label also comments:

“It is otherworldly, mystical, unflinchingly progressive, and unafraid to call upon the powers of doom, Delusions… is nothing less than 48 minutes of impeccable musicianship and flawless delivery.

“Recorded at Solslottet Studios – aka Castle Of The Sun – under production of Iver Sandøy (Enslaved, Krakow), Sahg’s fourth entry in the annals of wickedness is a doom-infused, heavy rock fireball that’s set to torch speakers around the globe.”
