Announces European tour

Metal Blade Records is proud to welcome Cult Of Luna to its worldwide roster! For almost 20 years, Cult Of Luna have imposed themselves as one of the world’s leading post-metal lights. Constantly evolving, the band pushes the genre’s boundaries from album to album so as to explore the darkest and mistiest, as well as the driest and most abrupt, landscapes.

Cult Of Luna comments: “We’re thrilled to announce our collaboration with Metal Blade and the creation of our new home: Red Creek, that will handle Cult Of Luna‘s future productions. This is a dawn to an exciting journey to come.”

Cult Of Luna hasn’t debuted any new material under their sole name since Vertikal 1&2 (2013). In 2016, the Mariner album – which was made in collaboration with Julie Christmas (Battle Of Mice, Made Out Of Babies) – was released, and praised by both fans and critics. A DVD, entitled Years In A Day, followed in April 2017, which also saw much success.

Stay tuned for more news about Cult Of Luna‘s first album in several years – and their Metal Blade Records debut – coming soon!

Recognized for their apocalyptic live performances that unrestrainedly explore the audience’s imagination, transposing music-triggered sensations visually, Cult Of Luna will bring their stunning live show to fans across Europe later this year – appearing at both festivals this summer, as well as headlining a tour in Nov./Dec. with A.A Williams. Destrage reveals details for new album, ‘The Chosen One’

– March 19th, 2019 –

Launches video for title track

Cover Art by Marco Tafuri

After 1 week of letting fans vote on their new album name, Italy’s Destrage has announced the true title of their fifth full-length: The Chosen One – which will be released May 24th via Metal Blade Records. The trailers for the fake album names can be viewed below:
https://youtu.be/4D3lleFjE5c
https://youtu.be/Yabd2kXR-H0
https://youtu.be/4iHXsA9yV8M

For a preview of the album, a video for the title track can be seen now at: metalblade.com/destrage – where the record can also be pre-ordered in the following formats:

–jewelcase-CD
–light yellow vinyl / includes CD (EU exclusive – limited to 300 copies)
–pink / blue marbled vinyl / includes CD (EU exclusive – limited to 200 copies)
–multi-color splatter vinyl / includes CD (EU exclusive – limited to 100 copies)
–light pink marbled vinyl / includes CD (US exclusive – limited to 300 copies)
–violet marbled vinyl / includes CD (US exclusive – limited to 200 copies)

As with all of their previous efforts, Destrage make it impossible to pigeonhole their sound, with numerous labels applicable to the record but no single one able to tell the whole story. Moreover, from start to finish, The Chosen One seethes with an energy that is undeniable. “I strongly believe in the power of the people, and energy came from those who worked on this album, from the band, the producers, through to the mixing and mastering engineer. There was a lot of energy in the whole project, and that’s the most important thing to me,” vocalist Paolo Colavolpe enthuses. The record also sees the band once more experimenting, taking risks and exploring territory they have not previously entered into, demonstrating a fearlessness when it came to chasing ideas – and almost half the songs are in a completely different guitar tuning. A pair of unique tracks also bookend the record, the title track and “The Gifted One”, their relationship obvious as they came together in the writing stage. Explains guitarist Matteo Di Gioia: “The song ‘The Chosen One’ is brief, has no repetitions and an unresolved structure. The unexplored, unrepeated sections of that unwrap with more patience on ‘The Gifted One’, which also has an uncommon structure, but in the opposite sense. Here we have a long, pacing, reflexive closing song that shares many elements with the opener but feels completely different.” Further adding to the heady mix is the incorporation of extra instrumentation, among these a baritone saxophone and something the band nicknamed MEGATRON, which is essentially “a badass synthesizer playing guitar riffs together with the human guitarists. Like the saxophone, it’s set to disappear and fuse with the guitars to achieve a slightly unreal sound, and we knew we didn’t want these extra sounds to emerge and be obvious. Instead, we really looked for the listener to experience the ‘What the fuck is that sound?’ effect.”

A smattering of guest musicians also contributed to the album, with “master of evil” Luca Mai of ZU providing a wild saxophone solo on “Mr Bugman” and dubbing the main riff of “At The Cost Of Pleasure”. Jazz musician Fabio Visocchi added keyboards to “At The Cost Of Pleasure” and “The Gifted One”, while Fabrizio “Izio” Pagni produced the electronics and handled the programming. Produced by Matteo “ciube” tabacco and Destrage at Raptor studios, plus mixed and mastered by Josh Wilbur, the recording process proved to be both rewarding and thrilling for the band, who were unable to physically be in LA with Wilbur, but were involved every step of the way. Admitting to being a little intimidated at the thought of working with such a “hot producer” initially, the collaboration was nothing but fruitful: the first mix great, the second better, but they persisted, with the eighth run making it onto the record to everyone’s satisfaction. “We were talking every day on the phone, sending messages back and forth and Josh said to us, ‘Hey! I don’t have a deadline. We mix this until it’s fucking great. My goal is having everybody jumping up and down to this record!’ And he kept his word.”

New Video Clip “Outback Incest Clan” Available From Broken Hope

Chicago’s Broken Hope recently released the seventh studio album “Mutilated and Assimilated” via Century Media Records. The album pays tribute to John Carpenter’s classic film “The Thing” and John W. Campbell Jr’s short story “Who Goes There.”

In further celebration of “Mutilated and Assimilated” release, the band has prepared a new music video for the pummeling single, “Outback Incest Clan”, which can be seen below.

Guitarist Jeremy Wagner commented: “What’s in a name? Our song titles usually say a lot, and OUTBACK INCEST CLAN should tell you what’s in store. I got the idea for the subject matter straight from our sick vocalist, Damian Leski, who has can given me a few lyrical ideas. This song is based on TRUE EVENTS! I’ll give you the Wikipedia lowdown: It’s about the ‘Colt family incest case,’ dubbed by media as the ‘Colt incest clan,’ an Australian family discovered in 2012 to have been engaging in four generations of incest beginning with ‘Tim and June Colt,’ a brother and sister who emigrated from New Zealand in the 1970s. The family grew to nearly 40 members ranging from grandparents to mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, aunts, uncles, nephews, brothers and sisters all engaging in various forms of incest. Many of the children suffered from deformities and medical problems.

“The video was another collaboration between director Tommy Jones and Broken Hope and we love the way this one played out with Tommy’s cool camera angles and the creepiness he injected into it. Enjoy!”
