Twitching Tongues releases new digital album, ‘Disharmony Zero’, today

– October 30th, 2018 –

Today (October 30th), Twitching Tongues has released a new digital album, Disharmony Zero, which includes two previously unreleased demos: “Insatiable Sin Zero” and “Asylum Ave Zero”. Recorded, mixed and mastered at The Pit in Van Nuys, CA by Taylor Young in March 2015, this recording features the band’s Colin Young on vocals and drums, and Taylor Young on guitar, bass, and vocals. The studio versions of the two tracks appeared on 2015′s Disharmony.

Colin Young comments: “As some fuckin’ guy once said, always trust your first instinct…
Here are two songs that truly represent that, as we believe the final studio versions of both ‘Insatiable Sin’ and ‘Asylum Avenue’ have truly never measured up to these respective recordings, and we decided, truly just because we fuckin’ can, that we wanted to let people hear the final demo sessions for two of our favorite songs on ‘Disharmony‘. While the whole record might be misunderstood to a great many, these two versions of these two songs, in particular, better capture the spirit of what we had in mind those few years ago. Kiss my ass and then the rest of our ass. Enjoy.”

Disharmony Zero track-listing
1. Insatiable Sin Zero
2. Asylum Ave Zero

Twitching Tongues released their fourth full-length, Gaining Purpose Through Passionate Hatred, earlier this year via Metal Blade Records. The album’s title was drawn from a quote by famed social philosopher Eric Hoffer – “Passionate hatred can give meaning and purpose to an empty life” – and it reflects the band’s mentality in approaching the record: paying homage to those who supported them while belligerently responding to their detractors. With “failure” as a core theme driving Colin Young’s lyrics, it also features his first foray into the political arena, motivated by the contemporary political climate to speak his mind. Directly inspired by film scores, the record has a strong epic feel, the band realizing their vision of having the music flow like a story being told. With interconnected parts, musical references and callbacks in each song, everything is tied together in a manner unlike any of their previous releases. At the same time, while maintaining the same levels of hardness and aggression that has characterized their later work, it features much more immediate and memorable melodies, which evoke the sound of In Love There Is No Law yet at the same time feel fresh and new.

Twitching Tongues partners with Noisey.com to premiere new track, “Asylum Avenue”

– October 14th, 2015 –

Southern California’s rising underground metal/hardcore outfit Twitching Tongues has launched “Asylum Avenue“, the third single from the band’s upcoming album, Disharmony, due out October 30th via Metal Blade Records. To stream “Asylum Avenue“, visit Noisey.com now for the exclusive premiere HERE.

Twitching Tongues‘ Colin Young (vocals) comments: “Recording ‘Asylum Avenue’ made me the most emotional of any of the songs on the album. It is a lyrical successor to ‘Preacher Man’, and deals with the trials and eventual triumph of mine, my father’s, and my brother’s over a certain situation in our lives. It’s an odd feeling to harbor the desire to kill a man who wronged you so early in your life so many years later, but this was a very therapeutic means of letting go of that frustration. This is a song I feel that both old and new fans of the band will appreciate. It has some things we haven’t done before, but also some classic elements that to me, make it feel like a true Twitching Tongues song.

For another preview of Disharmony, be sure to check out the following previously released singles, plus live set from Philadelphia’s This Is Hardcore festival in July:
–”Sacrifice Me”: Soundcloud
–”Disharmony”: YouTube
–This Is Hardcore festival live footage: hate5six.com

Known for their unique sound that resists lazy classification, Twitching Tongues has dropped two full-lengths, toured extensively and garnered a cult following since their formation in 2009 by brothers Colin and Taylor Young. Yet it’s the band’s third album – and Metal Blade debut – Disharmony that sees the LA-based quintet truly come into their own. Dynamic, powerful, and instantly gripping, Disharmony pushes musical and emotional boundaries to create something that is not only fresh and exciting, but really matters. States vocalist Colin Young, “We’ve always put everything we’ve got into our music, but this one is more personal. It’s darker, it’s more aggressive, and I’m sure it will be more polarizing too, but we’re more invested in it than anything we’ve done before, and we couldn’t be prouder of the end result.

Pre-order Disharmony now at metalblade.com/twitchingtongues.

Upon releasing Disharmony, Twitching Tongues will head out on the road for a North American tour with Harms Way, Homewrecker, and Malice at the Palace. See below for all dates.

– August 26th, 2015 –

August 26, 2015 – Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles based metal/hardcore band Twitching Tongues has announced plans to release their third studio album, Disharmony, on October 30th via their new label Metal Blade Records. The band has also unleashed a new video, directed by Tyler Bradberry, for the record’s title track and launched a pre-order for the record today at metalblade.com/twitchingtongues.

Led by brothers Colin Young (vocals) and Taylor Young (guitars/vocals; also of grindcore band Nails), Twitching Tongues has carved out a prominent place in Los Angeles’ burgeoning music scene over the last several years. With two albums, Sleep Therapy (2012) and In Love There Is No Law (2013), under their belts and extensive worldwide touring, the band has quickly managed to become one of the underground’s most discussed bands and are on the cusp of a major breakout with the release of Disharmony this fall.

This record represents every single thing we have done and have worked towards these past 5 years…It is a new beginning for this band, and it feels incredible to finally share it with all of you.” – Colin Young

Disharmony is a powerful display of unrelenting sound. The band wastes no time ripping into the record with the title track that perfectly showcases their unique blend of doom, sludge and hardcore. Twitching Tongues Performs New Album Title Track Live At Hellfest

Twitching Tongues recently flew across the Atlantic to perform a string of dates in Europe with fellow SoCal hardcore act, Disgrace. The tour included a June 19th performance at the tenth anniversary edition of Hellfest in Clisson, France.

The band’s set list there included the title track from forthcoming album, “Disharmony,” and an official live performance of that song can be seen below.

Over e-mail from London, England, vocalist Colin Young commented: “When your band’s existence is pretty much solely based on live videos from Dynamo fest in the 90’s, playing something like Hellfest is pretty fucking cool. Especially getting to play ‘Disharmony’ live for the 3rd or 4th time ever.”

Remaining dates on the European trek are listed below. “Disharmony” is scheduled for a fall release via Metal Blade Records worldwide – stay tuned for more info.
