Cleric Debut New Song “Lunger” From Upcoming New Album “Retrocausal”

Philadelphia quartet Cleric debut a new song entitled “Lunger”, taken from their upcoming new album “Retrocausal”, which is set for a December 8th release on Web of Mimicry, the label owned by musician Trey Spruance of Mr. Bungle and Secret Chiefs 3.

Check out now “Lunger” below.

“Retrocausal is an adventure story set in a dystopian future. Cleric vocalist/keyboardist Nick Shellenberger explains: “Lyrically, Retrocausal opens a window into a bleak sci-fi landscape plagued by environmental fallout, in which corrupt governments send their citizens to die, and centers around one submarine crew that learns of their intended fate and chooses to pursue the beyond, despite the terrors that await. Told from different perspectives throughout the record, it’s a story of hope, fear, uncertainty, and constant struggle in the face of failure and death, and in search of something that may never be.”

The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Colin Marston (Gorguts, Dysrhythmia) at The Thousand Caves in Queens, New York.

The artwork was created by Cleric’s Nick Shellenberger.

New Album “IAO 269” Announced By Corpose Garden

Latin American death metal act, Corpse Garden, will be releasing the third album “IAO 269” in November 2017 via Godz ov War Productions on CD, vinyl, cassette and digitally (exact date TBA). Check out the new track “Selenomantic Ecstasies” in the player at the bottom.

“IAO 269” follows up conceptually on the previous album, “Entheogen” (2015), and takes the band into a brand new and bolder, experimental – and even trance-like – direction.

Guitarist Federico Gutiérrez comments on what influenced this direction: “music is always a response from whatever we are feeling at the moment of its creation. It is an extension of our feelings and emotions”. The album was heavily influenced by the music the band members were listening to during the creation process of the album: krautrock, 70s and 80s post-punk and ambient music among others.

“When we were crafting the music, it became more obvious that the concept of the album would be a continuation of the concept on Entheogen: It’s the harness of knowledge through the occult and realizing its power and the abilities it descends upon one’s hands”.

“IAO 269” was produced by Colin Marston and Corpse Garden. It was recorded, mixed and mastered in January 2017 by Colin Marston at Menegroth, The Thousand Caves Studio, Queens, New York.

Stay tuned for more information on the album. In the meantime, check out the new song “Selenomantic Ecstasies” here:

Pyrrhon Unveils New Album “What Passes For Survival”

Continuing to shapeshift while using unorthodox songwriting techniques that border on the incomprehensible, avant-garde extreme metal quartet Pyrrhon returns with “What Passes For Survival,” due out August 8th.

Throatruiner Records comments: “Dense, volatile, and drenched in manic ferocity, ‘What Passes For Survival’ is an aural challenge that refuses to adhere to genre conventions, merging strategic orchestrated bursts of death metal chaos with expanses of unhinged improvisation.

“The latest stage of Pyrrhon’s metamorphosis is one that demands repeated audio submersion from the listener, and satisfies those craving sonic extremity that pushes limits. Recorded live, mixed, and mastered by Colin Marston at The Thousand Caves, the album features artwork by Caroline Harrison.”

Details Of New Album “Unparalleled Universe” Revealed By Origin

Vaunted U.S. titans of extreme death metal, Origin, have revealed details surrounding the forthcoming new album “Unparalleled Universe,” which is set to be released on June 30th via Agonia Records (Europe/ROW) and Nuclear Blast Records (North America). Pre-orders for the album are available at this location. The first single “Accident And Error” will come in the form of a 360 degree lyric video which will be available in North America on Friday, May 12th at 10:00am.

For 20 years, Origin has engaged a full-blown sensory assault of tight, taut, and technical death metal amplified by flashes of grindcore and groove. However, 2017’s “Unparalleled Universe” sees the quartet – Paul Ryan (guitar, vocals), John Longstreth (drums), Mike Flores (bass, vocals), and Jason Keyser (vocals) – strengthen that blueprint with a handful of surprises.

“It feels like an Origin album, but it’s unparalleled to what you might expect if you haven’t heard us for 10 or 15 years” says Ryan. “To me, it’s a true reflection of ourselves. I compare it to an action movie. Our earlier material is filled with action from beginning to end. Now, the idea is to add a little more depth and dynamics. You could say there are some twists in the plot musically”.

“Unparalleled Universe” was recorded and mixed at Chapman Studios in February 2017 alongside longtime collaborator and engineer Robert Rebeck (Tech N9ne). The band emerged with ten new songs including a cover of Brujeria’s “Revolución”, that were mastered in March 2017 by Colin Marston at Menegroth – The Thousand Caves (Altar of Plagues, Jarobe, Krallice) and wrapped in a cover prepared by Filip Ivanovic (Dismember, Cryptopsy, Heavy Montreal, Gorguts).

The track listing is as follows:

1. Infinitesimal to the Infinite
2. Accident and Error
3. Cascading Failures
4. Mithridatic
5. Truthslayer
6. Invariance Under Transformation
7. Dajjal
8. Burden of Prescience
9. Unequivocal
10. Revolucion

“Unparalleled Universe” album formats:
– Digipack CD.
– Limited BOX CD (including beer opener with album cover, flag with band logo and alternative CD version of the album).
– 12” gatefold LP (black).
– 12” gatefold LP (gray).
– 12” gatefold LP (splatter) – Agonia Records Webshop exclusive!
