The Crown comments: “A 5 minute Death Metal Grindcore Opera! Take a deep breath before the plunge – This will drag you down into the deep Waters!”

Comments The Crown on their new album Cobra Speed Venom: “We are really looking forward to finally be able to show our fans how damn good this band can be when the circumstances are right. With that I mean to be able to do an album the way we want to do it: creating as a band, rehearsing as a band, recording as a band. You will hear a band performing here, with fierce energy and hunger!”

With their motivation at an all-time high, The Crown spent most of 2017 intensely rehearsing 13 new songs. Extreme speed and aggression mixed with classic heavy metal and rock n’ roll, which really shows that The Crown has no boundaries. The apocalyptic theme of the lyrics and music also fits perfectly with the outstanding artwork of Christian Sloan Hall.

ProgPower USA Announes Sunburst Drops Off XVIII Roster, Daydream XI To Replace

ProgPower USA promoter Glenn Harveston announced that Greek power/progressive act Sunburst was dropped from the XVIII roster, due to a VISA issues, in which a particular USCIS agent made an unusual and specific “all-encompassing” request for evidence that was impossible to satisfy in the time left. Harveston also announced that Brazil’s Daydream XI will replace Sunburst.

Harveston posted the following announcement: “It is with extreme frustration and disappointment I must announce that Sunburst (Greece) will not be performing at ProgPower USA XVIII. Despite having provided the same type and kind of evidence that has obtained approvals for not only ProgPower USA bands over the last decade, but for well over one hundred other bands submitted by Marc/Play America, one agent at the USCIS (United States Customs & Immigration Services) has deemed our evidence insufficient. Given the all-encompassing breadth of that specific agent’s demands (more than ever have been seen by either Marc or myself) in an RFE (Request for Evidence) in our careers, there is literally no hope of satisfying those demands. Sunburst, Marc, & I have all agreed it would be pointless to continue to fight this hopeless battle.

“Rest assured I have every intention of having Sunburst back as soon as possible. They are an amazing band and deserve to be on the ProgPower USA stage. The band is understandably disappointed, but also understand the circumstances cannot be helped.

“I want to calm the fears of those concerned about other bands performing this year. I have already obtained visa approvals for all bands I am specifically responsible for performing on Friday and Saturday. Sunburst was the last band we were waiting on for visa approval. All bands that have been submitted for Wednesday and Thursday so far have also been approved.

“Also, so as to hopefully avoid any perceived political blame for this unfortunate situation, both myself and Play America see the Sunburst RFE as an aberration. As mentioned, all bands that have been submitted for the festival so far have received approvals. We have received numerous RFEs for bands over the years and have always fought them successfully. An RFE here and there is not unusual. It is the scope of Sunburst’s RFE that is unusual. It is one agent. Maybe that agent is new; maybe that agent had an ‘off day’; maybe that agent hates rock/metal; or maybe that agent simply interprets the requirements different from all the other agents. Whatever the case, we do not see this RFE as a trend or result of some new immigration policy, practice or procedure.”

Harveston announced that Brazil’s Daydream XI would be the replacement, stating: “I am pleased to announce Brazil’s Daydream XI have joined the ProgPower USA XVIII roster. After receiving the opportunity to preview their new upcoming concept album, “The Circus of the Tattered & Torn,” the decision was very easy. The band has simply taken it to another level with release.

“Daydream XI has graciously uploaded two tracks for the ProgPower USA audience to preview from the new disc. These will only be available this week [check them out in the player below) to serve as an introduction as to what is to come.

“Please join me in welcoming the band to the ProgPower USA family.”

Check out new Daydream XI material from the forthcoming new album “The Circus Of The Tattered And Torn” for a limited time this week:

ProgPower USA XVIII takes place from September 6-9, 2017 at Center Stage in Atlanta, GA. Tickets for Days 3-4 were sold out quickly after going on sale late last year. Tickets for Days 1-2 are still available via Ticketmaster. The revised running order is:

Iced Earth Parts With Guitarist Troy Seele

Iced Earth guitarist Troy Seele today announces his departure from the band due to family responsibilities. Troy Seele’s last gig with the band will be Knotfest in Mexico City on October 16th, 2016. He comments:

“After close to ten years as a guitarist in Iced Earth, the time has come for me to step away. Some of you know, but many do not, that I have a child with autism. In the past I had a great support system that has allowed me to pursue a career in music. That is no longer the case and it has forced me to make a difficult decision. I’ve always believed that family comes first, and now it is time for me to focus on that.

“The demanding life style of being in a professional heavy metal band is no longer an option for me. Knowing the band is focused on a new album and touring cycle, and given my circumstances, this is the best time for me to step down.

“Playing in Iced Earth has been a great experience. It’s taken me around the world many times and given me the chance to meet many of my heroes, as well as play in front of crowds larger than I ever dreamed of.

“I personally want to thank Jon and the guys for the music and the amazing times through the years. Thank you to the fans for understanding and for your support.”

Iced Earth singer Stu Block remarks on Seele’s departure, “It’s very sad that Troy is leaving. He will be missed and will always be considered family to us. I wish him the best of luck in everything he does.”

Jon Schaffer, Iced Earth founder, further states: “Troy was a good friend before he became a part of the team, and always will be. I understand and respect his decision. We shared some of the most amazing times of our lives together. We laughed hard, and we laughed often. Be well brother. We all wish you the very best.”

After The Burial Posts “Collapse” Music Video

After The Burial, celebrating chart debuts for new album, “Dig Deep,” today releases a video for “Collapse.” The nine-song album landed at #1 on the Billboard Top Hard Music and Independent Album charts as well as #18 on the Top Current Album chart and #50 on the Top 200.

The album title is a nod to the circumstances surrounding this album, one that found the five-piece moving on without founding member Justin Lowe after his suicide in July.

“We coped as well as we could have—we still are,” admits singer Anthony Notarmaso. “Losing someone isn’t easy, and we all dealt with it in our own way. I was angry and sad at the same time. I didn’t know how to feel, and it took time to accept that he really was gone. After the dust settled, we got on the phone to see where we stood. To be honest, we thought about giving up. We asked ourselves if it was right to go on without him, or maybe if it was time to start a new band together. In the end, we felt like we couldn’t let what beat him beat us. That would’ve been even more tragic, and we felt like he wouldn’t have wanted us to stop. I know I wouldn’t have.”

“When you think you don’t have anything left in you, you have to rely on that inner strength,” adds guitar player Trent Hafdahl. “That’s where we are as a band. So many things beyond our control went wrong, but we started to dig deep as brothers.”

New album “Dig Deep” was recorded at Graphic Nature Audio in New Jersey with producer Will Putney (The Amity Affliction, Upon A Burning Body). The album is the first where the band partnered with a producer. “We had not tried it before,” explains Hafdahl. “It felt like a fresh idea to do something new. We were still running the show obviously, but he brought a good ear for tone and melody. He encouraged us to explore more. To have that perspective was helpful.”

Tankard Drummer Olaf Zissel Hospitalized For Suspected Stroke

Frankfurt-based thrash outfit Tankard unfortunately has to announce that drummer Olaf Zissel was taken to hospital due to a suspected stroke.

According to a statement from Nuclear Blast, Olaf is doing well under the circumstances at the moment. He will undergo examination by a team of doctors during the next few days, so he won’t be able to play the shows at Summer Breeze Festival, Germany and Motocultor Fest, France.

Gerd Lücking (Holy Moses), who would be on the road as a soundtech for Tankard, consented jump in as stand-in for Olaf and to play the two upcoming gigs. Tankard comments:

“We’re shocked and keep our fingers crossed for Olaf, that the suspicion doesn’t confirm and that he will be released from the hospital soon. We wish, that he will get well soon and fast. And we want to thank Gerd, who consented short dated to play these both shows with us.”

Five Finger Death Punch Reveals New Album “Got Your Six”

Five Finger Death Punch just released new song “Jekyll and Hyde,” the first single from “Got Your Six.” Give it a listen at the Monster Energy website here.

The new album “Got Your Six” is due to drop in North America on August 28th via Prospect Park, with Eleven Seven Music due to handle the European release. Pre-orders are available now at this location. Vocalist Ivan Moody comments:

“If someone asked me to sum up who and what Five Finger Death Punch is, I would tell them everything they need to know is on this new record. Hands down, ‘Got Your Six’ is our best one yet… As for the first single, everybody is ‘Jekyll and Hyde.’ There are multiple personalities to every human being, and no matter how civilized and sophisticated you think you are, if you dare to look at yourself very, very closely, you’ll see… somewhere deep down… there is a demon inside. Your circumstances may not have provoked it yet but trust me, it’s there…”

Guitarist Zoltan Bathory adds: “The verses are actual unaltered voice mails from Ivan. We have an ever-growing collection of these 4:00am messages Ivan usually bombards us with, and Jason had this idea to copy them to a hard drive, then literally wrote the song around them… what you hear is the actual voicemail.”

The album’s track listing is:

1. Got Your Six
2. Jekyll And Hyde
3. Wash It All away
4. Ain’t My Last Dance
5. My Nemesis
6. No Sudden Movement
7. Question Everything
8. Hell To Pay
9. Digging My Own Grave
10. Meet My Maker
11. Boots And Blood
Bonus tracks:
12. You’re Not My Kind
13. This Is My War
14. I Apologize

Fields Of The Nephilim Comments On Eurorock Situation

Fields Of The Nephilim’s management just posted the following message online about the band cancelling its Eurorock appearance last minute:

“For those that are curious / disappointed, here’s what went down at EuroRock. We travelled to the show from England having hired buses / drivers etc. during our journey we were in constant contact with festival production and nothing untoward was mentioned (although by this time they were fully aware of the situation).

“Upon arrival at the festival site we were informed that there was a ‘situation.’ This turned out to be more than just a situation for us…. The equipment they had booked for us in order to play was not on site, because the festival organizers had failed to pay for it. None of our technical requirements had been met. No catering (the guys had been on the road for 10 hours).

“To make matters even worse we were also told that we would not be paid. We had no alternative but to retreat to the hotel and accept that due to matters beyond our control we were prevented from delivering the show. We sincerely apologize to the many fans who were disappointed, we all feel exactly the same.”

The organizers of the festival posted several times about lineup changes and problems during the festival on Facebook, capped by this comment: “Thanks to all the volunteers, crew, catering, security, the police, first aid team, and all those we forget now for getting this to a good end. A BIG thank you to the bands for their understanding, but most of all a HUGE THANK YOU to you, the festival goer, who made the event an enjoyable one despite the circumstances.”

Iron Maiden Vocalist Undergoes Cancer Treatment, Prognosis “Extremely Good”

Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson is currently undergoing cancer treatment for a small cancerous growth at the back of his tongue. Due to the early detection, doctors have listed his prognosis as “very good,” and the band will have further updates in May.

The band’s announcement reads: “Just before Christmas, Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson visited his doctor for a routine check-up. This led to tests and biopsies which revealed a small cancerous tumour at the back of his tongue. A seven week course of chemotherapy and radiology treatment was completed yesterday. As the tumour was caught in the early stages, the prognosis thankfully is extremely good. Bruce’s medical team fully expect him to make a complete recovery with the all clear envisaged by late May. It will then take a further few months for Bruce to get back to full fitness. In the meantime we would ask for your patience, understanding and respect for Bruce and his family’s privacy until we update everyone by the end of May. Bruce is doing very well considering the circumstances and the whole team are very positive.”

Onslaught Cancels European Tour Dates

Onslaught has issued the following announcement about canceling upcoming European dates:

“Ladies and gents, sometimes no matter how hard you try and no matter how much you want something to happen, at times events and other circumstances that are completely out of your control unfortunately conspire to prevent those things happening.

“So it’s with great regret that we have to announce that the European leg of the ‘Thrash Invasion’ tour has been cancelled. Its a shitty situation but things were always out of our hands on this tour!

“Needless to say ourselves and the other bands involved are gutted. We will, however, be looking to reschedule the shows at a later date.

“The UK tour is still going ahead as planned with Onslaught and Artillery and believe me it’s going to be pretty damn epic!

“We would like to thank and wish Zetro all the very best with Exodus and hope to hook up with him and the rest of the guys from Hatriot very soon.”
