Frontiers Music Srl Inks Deal With Warlord

Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to welcome legendary U.S. metal act Warlord to the family for the release of a new studio album in 2018!

Long admirers of the band and having gotten to know drummer Mark Zonder through his work with Graham Bonnet Band and the upcoming group, Spirits Of Fire, (which also features Tim Ripper Owens (Charred Walls Of The Damned, ex Iced Earth, Judas Priest), Chris Caffery (Savatage, Trans-Siberian Orchestra), and Steve Di Giorgio (Death (Official), Testament, Sadus)), Frontiers approached Zonder about the prospect of doing a new Warlord album for release in 2018. Luckily for the label, Zonder and co-founder/guitarist William J. Tsamis were very much open to the idea. Says Zonder, “[a]fter all of these years, Warlord is with a ‘real label.’ It will be great to have Warlord music shared with a worldwide audience., which is something that has been missing for many years. With my prior working experiences with Frontiers, I know Warlord is in the right place and I am very appreciative of this great opportunity. We thank everyone at the label for their belief in Warlord!”

In September 2013, Tsamis and Zonder announced that they had tapped vocalist Nicholas Leptos of Arrayan Path and Astronomikon to be the new Warlord singer. This line-up, along with bassist Bynoe will be the line-up for the upcoming new album. Adds Zonder, “this Warlord release will be like all of the previous ones, 100% Warlord. No changing of direction to keep up with the current fad, just good ol’ school Warlord music. Maybe leaning back a touch to the early days and we promise a high energy album that features the classic Bill Tsamis compositions and his classic guitar melody lines. As I always try to do, I’ll give it my all in tandem with my favorite bass player Philip Bynoe, working together to create a solid foundation. This will be the first studio recording with Nicholas Leptos on vocals. We have performed live with him several times and are eagerly awaiting to capture his dynamic performances on tape. A classic Warlord album in the making……”

Stay tuned for updates as work on the album progresses….

Details Of New Album “By The Storm” Available From Craving

In the eye of the storm! The music from Germany’s Craving carries influences of extreme metal, folk, power metal and classic with it to leave a real battlefield behind. The self-titled debut and follow-up “At Dawn,” as well as numerous shows and festivals all over Europe (alongside Ensiferum, Equilibrium, o.a.) already proved the strength of the band and the songs. The band also won over artists like Helge Stang (ex-Equilibrium), Nils Loeffler (Orden Ogan) and Chris Caffery (Savatage), who did gueat appearances.

On the newest piece of work “By The Storm,” the band is feistier than ever with a matured songwriting and a production that leaves enough space for all musical ingredients. Guitarist and singer Ivan Chertov produced the album on his own and once again left the mixing and mastering to Christoph Brandes (Finsterforst, Necrophagist, Imperium Dekadenz). The band’s passion for the literature of George R. R. Martin not only inspired the lyrics but it also lead to the idea of doing a cover-version of the “Game Of Thrones” theme. This bonus track rounds down the album perfectly.

On November 25th, Craving will take you “By The Storm” via Apostasy Records! Besides the jewel case edition, the album will be available as a digipak (including two bonus tracks) and as a boxset consisting of the digipak, an autograph card, a patch, a guitar pick and a certificate of authenticity.

The track list for “By The Storm” is:

1. Fulgur Immortale
2. By Storm
3. Cave Of A Dream
4. Penelopes Prayer

Metal Underground.com attempted to confirm the rumors with ProgPower USA promoter Glenn Harveston, who replied: “Look, Jon does what Jon does. He can play whatever the hell he wants, but I have absolutely no knowledge of any reunion, so just stop it.”

The rumored reports remain unconfirmed by any official source. As for ProgPower USA, the sold out event takes place from Wednesday, September 10th through Saturday, September 13th. The main festival (Friday-Saturday), will feature:

Jon Oliva’s Pain To Play "Hall Of The Mountain King" With Chris Caffery At Bang Your Head 2012

Jon Oliva’s Pain, led by the Mountain King himself, will play the classic Savatage release “Hall of the Mountain King” (1987) in its entirety along with Savatage guitarist Chris Caffery (Trans-Siberian Orchestra) at next years Bang Your Head Festival to be held in Balingen, Germany from July 13-14, 2012. The performance will mark the album’s 25th Anniversary. The band will also perform some songs from Doctor Buther, the defunct project of Oliva and Caffery.

It was reported earlier that former Savatage vocalist Zack Stevens and Circle II Circle will perform Savatage’s “Wake of Magellan” LP with Caffery at Wacken 2012 in August.

In other Jon Oliva’s Pain news, Oliva and drummer Chris Kinder continue to demo songs for the next JLP album and the follow up to the 2010 release “Festival.” In the latest update on the band’s Facebook Page, Kinder states: “As for the ‘band,’ we have made no decisions on anything at this point. The first objective right now is the songs. So, we will continue the process as we have done since ‘Maniacal Renderings’ which is basically Jon’s ideas and me crafting them into working songs and then we will worry about the rest of the details. Everything and everyone else involved with work itself out in the very near future. It’s just nice to finally be back on that horse and riding a new wave of music for a JOP release in 2012.”
