Children Of Bodom Discusses New Album “Hexed” Direction

Finland’s melodic death superstars Children Of Bodom are set to release their tenth album, Hexed, on March 8, 2019 via Nuclear Blast Records. Today, guitar-wielding frontman Alexi chats about the musical direction of the band’s new album. Watch the third trailer here below.

Alexi comments, “This time around, we had Daniel on guitar for the first time. It is a lot of fun for me to work with that dude ’cause he is very enthusiastic and has that hunger and drive to be involved. I love that drive and fire. He calls me up asking questions and throwing ideas around. Saying, ‘Ya, let’s get together and jam.’ I haven’t really had that in my life for a long time now that I think about it. And that is how we used to roll. We would just get together and play guitar just for the hell of it and really cool things would come out of it and this what we did with Daniel – it paid off and was fun.”

Behemoth launches new video for “Ecclesia Diabolica Catholica”

– January 9th, 2019 –

Set to kick-off European tour with At the Gates, Wolves in the Throne Room tomorrow

After recently completing a North American headlining tour with At the Gates and Wolves in the Throne Room, Behemoth will be bringing this must-see show to Europe, starting tomorrow! In anticipation of the trek, the band has also launched a new video for “Ecclesia Diabolica Catholica” (directed by Grupa 13 / grupa13.com), taken from their latest album, I Loved You At Your Darkest. To watch the clip, please visit: youtube.com/watch?v=HKWqzjQAv14

Orion (bass & vocals) comments: Behemoth Legions! As this ‘ILYAYD‘ adventure continues onwards, we want to share a new video with you! Since we began the writing process, ‘Ecclesia Diabolica Catholica’ was a stand-out contender to be featured as a single and music video. As the song evolved during rehearsal and recording, it gained this lively, furious vibe…which you hear now – thus, it includes live performance elements which we’ve not done in quite some time. We are happy to work with Grupa13 once again – and once again, they showed their super-professional approach at every step of the shooting and video production. Two separate locations, hours of preparation, but it was all worth it. In absentia dei, we evangelize! Enjoy!”

Children Of Bodom Reveals New Album “Hexed” Details

Finland’s melodic death superstars Children Of Bodom are proud to the announce the release of their tenth album, Hexed, on March 8th 2019 via Nuclear Blast Records.

COB frontman, guitarist, and mastermind Alexi Laiho comments, “People have said that this album is generally catchier. So I started thinking about that, perhaps the song structures are easier to grasp on initial listen. But there’s some crazy shit in there, almost progressive or at least technical. There are certain melodies across the album that could have come from jazz songs, although they’re completely metal with us, of course (laughs).”

“For me, it has always been very hard to describe our new music,” comments bassist Henkka Blacksmith. “In a way it always feels familiar, but the new stuff also always surprises me. Here we have something that’s very Bodom, but somehow we haven’t done this kind of stuff, possibly ever. Then again, someone said that there’s a somewhat similar vibe to what Follow the Reaper had. I don’t know. Anyway, we had a really hard time choosing the songs for the videos, I guess that’s a positive problem to have.”

“Hexed” saw the return to Finland’s Danger Johnny Studios where COB were reunited with Mikko Karmila (“I Worship Chaos,” “Halo Of Blood,” “Hatebreeder,” “Follow the Reaper” and “Hate Crew Deathroll”) who recorded everything except keyboards and also produced the album with the band. Janne Wirman recorded keyboards at Beyond Abilities Studios. The album was mixed and mastered at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki, Finland.

For this album, the band enlisted Deins Forkas to create the album artwork. Bassist Henkka Blacksmith commented on the cover, “For some years I’ve wanted to try a different approach with our cover art. We are so used to digital art, so it’s really hard to do something else. Doing it completely with a computer is somewhat safe and convenient. This time we all agreed to try going old school. We found this cool dude and gave him simple instructions – the cover has to be purple and the reaper has to be central. Half a year later we got his work, and with little tweaking, we now have the cover of Hexed. It is very different from what we are used to, even the Reaper looks different, but at the same time very spooky.”

Hexed will be available for pre-order starting December 7th.

Below is the track listing for “Hexed”

1. The Road
2. Under Grass and Clover
3. Glass Houses
4. Hecate’s Nightmare
5. Kick in the Spleen
6. Platitudes and Barren Words
7. Hexed
8. Relapse (The Nature of My Crime)
9. Say Never Look Back
10. Soon Departed
11. Knuckleduster
12. I Worship Chaos (live)
13. Morrigan (live)
14. Knuckleduster (remix)

Stay tuned for more information about the album as well as announcements about their upcoming US tour in the spring and European trek in the summer!

Behemoth and Kings County Brewers Collective join forces for “Wolf ov Siberia” Double IPA

– October 10th, 2018 –

Behemoth announces NYC and LA art exhibitions for new album, ‘I Loved You At Your Darkest’; ‘I Loved You At Your Darkest’ available now worldwide

Behemoth and Kings County Brewers Collective (Brooklyn, NY) have joined forces for a Double IPA, “Wolf ov Siberia”! From the most blasphemous depths of extreme metal comes a collaboration brew of epic proportions: “Wolf ov Siberia” pours pale gold in the glass, with a light lupulin haze. Tony Bellis (co-founder, Kings County Brewers Collective) comments: “We love brewing a wide variety of different beer styles at KCBC and strive to constantly challenge our drinkers’ taste buds – in the same way that Behemoth has consistently pushed the boundaries of metal into brutal, uncharted territories over the years. Having been long time Behemoth fans, we’re incredibly excited to collaborate with them on this killer Double IPA.”

Behemoth mastermind Nergal adds: Behemoth global domination is still in full effect! After partnering with our friends at Perun to give you a unique craft experience, we thought why just brew beer for the lucky ones in Europe? Kings County Brewers Collective said they could delight the palate of the Americans too! Just in time for our album release October 5th, you’ll be seeing ‘Wolf ov Siberia’ at a bar near you!”

KCBC will host a “Wolf ov Siberia” can release party on October 15th at the KCBC Brewery & Taproom in Brooklyn, followed by a wider release to quality craft beer spots throughout the NYC metro area and beyond. For more information, please visit:

Behemoth launches video for new single, “Bartzabel”

– October 1st, 2018 –

“It doesn’t get more blasphemous than this,” declares Behemoth mastermind Nergal, about the band’s upcoming album, I Loved You At Your Darkest – due out October 5th via Metal Blade Records (North America) / Nuclear Blast (Europe). While it certainly seems an unlikely title for a black metal band, its origin might surprise fans even more than the words themselves. “It’s a verse from the Bible,” Nergal reveals. “It’s actually a quote from Jesus Christ himself. For Behemoth to use it as the basis of our record, it’s sacrilege to the extreme.”

A crushing salvo of black metal majesty replete with hellish riffs, thundering drum cannonades and soaring liturgical choirs reminiscent of classic horror cinema, I Loved You At Your Darkest is the group’s most dynamic record yet: extreme and radical on one hand, but also more rock-oriented than any other Behemoth release. Produced by the band themselves, with drum co-production by Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, In Flames), mixing by Matt Hyde (Slayer, Children Of Bodom) mastering by Tom Baker (Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson), and a 17-piece Polish orchestra arranged by Jan Stoklosa, I Loved You At Your Darkest can be pre-ordered now at: metalblade.com/behemoth – where the video for the new single, “Bartzabel” (directed by Grupa 13 / grupa13.com), can also be viewed. The following formats are available in the USA, along with an exclusive t-shirt:

–jewelcase CD
–digibook CD (hardcover digibook, 40 page booklet)
–baltic amber vinyl (limited to 600 copies)
–opaque white w/ gold splatter vinyl (Metal Blade Records exclusive – limited to 300 copies)
–black / gold split vinyl (Metal Blade Records exclusive – limited to 300 copies)
–clear w/ smoky black swirl (Nuclear Blast US exclusive – limited to 300 copies)
–clear w/ grey inside (Kings Road exclusive – limited to 500 copies)
–”God = Dog” 7″ picture disc (Metal Blade Records exclusive – limited to 666 copies)

Nergal comments: “‘Bartzabel’ is a song that came in the midst of a Behemoth rehearsal…We had no structure, no vision – but piece by piece, it came to be, and we were extremely excited by the result. To us, it’s the eye of the ‘ILYAYD‘ storm: sonically calmer and slower than anything else on the record, but definitely one of the darkest!

Lyrically, we (myself and Krzysztof Azarewicz) were inspired by Aleister Crowley’s conjuration of the Spirit of Mars – which the video, by our trusted friends in Grupa 13, depicts beautifully…I may even go as far to say that it’s my favourite Behemoth video of all time! I hope you all enjoy it, and we look forward to ‘ILYAYD”s launch this Friday!”

Cattle Decapitation Premiere “An Exposition Of Insides” – Detail New “Medium Rarities” Compilation

Cattle Decapitation will release a new rarities collection entitled “Medium Rarities” on November 23rd via Metal Blade Records. The compilation features six previously unreleased demos from their pre-“Human Jerky” days as well as bonus tracks and more from throughout the years.

Comments Travis Ryan of the set:

“‘Medium Rarities‘ is a project we started about 10 years ago, and we’re thrilled to see it finally happen! In 2008, I started compiling unreleased tracks, import bonus tracks and 7? releases for a rarities release – and even had the art created by the legendary Wes Benscoter, when we discovered that a key track was missing that we wanted to include on it.

Our album ‘To Serve Man‘ had a bonus track ready in case there was a Japanese version released, but that never happened – and the band members’ copies of the track got lost, seemingly forever! We felt a rarities compilation released without that bonus track would be a weird idea, and so the project got shelved until recently.

Heather Parsons of Metal Blade finally was able to unearth the track from an old disc that was tucked away in the Metal Blade vault! The lyrics to the song were unearthed along with it, and so we quickly got to work with compiling and mastering the rest. This is a nice, concise compilation of unreleased and hard-to-find tracks, complete with lyrics and cheeky vinyl color variant schemes, based on how people like their meat prepared.

The European vinyl variants also resemble diseased meats…But my favorite part is the cassette, which was created to look like the vintage cassette releases we grew up on – complete with the old school Metal Blade axe logo! A lot of thought and work went into this release, and we are pleased to finally be able to present to you…’Medium Rarities‘!”
