Former Marilyn Manson/Jack Off Jill Guitarist Daisy Berkowitz Passes Away

Scott Mitchell Putesky, more famously known as Daisy Berkowitz, the co-founding guitarist of the Marilyn Manson (originally Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids,) and later of Jack Off Jill, has passed away according to a number of his friends and bandmates. A posting on the Jack Off Jill Facebook page stated; “Saying good bye to Scott, friend, band mate, artist , hero.. RIP Scott – “always touched by your presence dear.” Daisy Berkowitz.” An official cause of death has yet to be revealed but in 2013, Putesky was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer.

Putesky formed Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids in 1989 with the eponymous singer (AKA Brian Warner,) after meeting at an after party at the Reunion Room in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He remained with the group recording the album, “Portrait of an American Family” and the EP “Smells Like Children,” before leaving halfway through the recording of “Antichrist Superstar” due to creative differences, though he does appear on the record. He would then join Jack Off Jill in 1998 and went on to record the album, “Covetous Creature” with the group and made a guest appearance with Godhead, before recording some albums with Three Ton Gate.

Apostasy Records Signs Night In Gales

Apostasy Records announced that the label has signed German melodic death metal act Night In Gales. Fans of the early material can expect a proper rejuvenation of the band.

Night In Gales looks back at turbulent times: The first sign of life, 1995’s EP “Sylphlike,” was already one of the most successful metal-demos of all time. Therefore, label-powerhouse Nuclear Blast came into the picture, with whom the quintet signed a deal for a couple of albums. They also toured alongside In Flames, Hypocrisy, Children Of Bodom, Death, Dismember and many others and they played numerous festivals like Rockharz, the Wacken Open Air or the Summer Breeze. After some calmer years, the band returned with 2011’s brilliant album “Five Scars.” Only one year later, long term vocalist Bjoern Gooßes left the band to concentrate completely on his band The Very End.

Last year, the band announced the addition of original vocalist Christian Mueller who also sang on their initial EP “Sylphlike.” He finalized the new album, which marks a distinct step back to the band’s roots. Thus, the songs offer furious melodic twin guitar riffing, driven by technical death metal drumming, topped by a manic frustrated voice that sounds like someone is crucified upside down.

The band comments: “We are happy to confirm that Night In Gales has inked a new worldwide record deal with Germany’s finest in melodic death metal: Apostasy Records! It feels good to be back and we are 100% sure to have the full support of Tomasz and his Team, as these guys are true underground-proofed death metal maniacs, who run the label with the necessary passion and idealism. We are proud to be a part of the Apostasy roster among brothers in crime like Ablaze My Sorrow, This Ending, Nailed To Obscurity, Burial Vault, Fragments Of Unbecoming, Damnation Defaced, Sign Of Cain, a.m.o. The new album is ready to release and there will be some exiting news containing more details like album track list, cover artwork, editions a.s.o. really soon, so stay tuned for this! Cheers, NIG anno 2017”

CyHra (Ex-In Flames, Etc.) Debuts New Music Video “Karma” From Upcoming Debut Album “Letters To Myself”

CyHra, the new band featuring former Amaranthe singer Jake E., ex-In Flames guitarist Jesper Strömblad and Luca Turilli’s Rhapsody drummer Alex Landenburg, debuts a new music video for “Karma”, taken from the upcoming debut album “Letters To Myself”, which is on course for an October 20th release on Spinefarm. Patric Ullaeus (Arch Enemy, Children Of Bodom) directed the clip.

Check out now “Karma” below.

Comments frontman Jake E.:

“It was a pleasure and a no-brainer to re-unite with director Patric Ullaeus for the video. Whatever that man touches just turns to gold. We shot the clip in an old factory that has been abandoned for 25 years. The story line is part of a bigger narrative that will continue in the next video. I am tremendously proud of the end result, and I hope that our fans will be as excited about the video as we are.”

Children of Terror Debuts New Song “(((Patah)))” From Forthcoming New Album “Kaliyuga”

Indonesian hardcore outfit Children of Terror debuts a new track called “(((Patah)))”, taken from the forthcoming new album “Kaliyuga”, which will be released by the band on September 14.

Check out now “(((Patah)))” below.

Explains the band:

“This time we want to make something unique, quite different than our previous releases. We wanted something heavier, something darker, in the vein of Unbroken, Integrity, Disembodied and many European hardcore/metal bands which always have dark image and sound, in my opinion. We also add noise music element to create atmosphere, so we get dark ambience that fit with the vibe of our music. We cross any genre, we blend any music we know and shape it in the form of a hardcore band. Draw an influence from powerviolence, grindcore, punk to old school death metal, from heavy metal to progressive rock, even a little taste of space rock. We mixed it up and let’s just say we play 90’s metallic hardcore with different approach, by the music, sound, concept, and lyrics.”

New Video Clip “Outback Incest Clan” Available From Broken Hope

Chicago’s Broken Hope recently released the seventh studio album “Mutilated and Assimilated” via Century Media Records. The album pays tribute to John Carpenter’s classic film “The Thing” and John W. Campbell Jr’s short story “Who Goes There.”

In further celebration of “Mutilated and Assimilated” release, the band has prepared a new music video for the pummeling single, “Outback Incest Clan”, which can be seen below.

Guitarist Jeremy Wagner commented: “What’s in a name? Our song titles usually say a lot, and OUTBACK INCEST CLAN should tell you what’s in store. I got the idea for the subject matter straight from our sick vocalist, Damian Leski, who has can given me a few lyrical ideas. This song is based on TRUE EVENTS! I’ll give you the Wikipedia lowdown: It’s about the ‘Colt family incest case,’ dubbed by media as the ‘Colt incest clan,’ an Australian family discovered in 2012 to have been engaging in four generations of incest beginning with ‘Tim and June Colt,’ a brother and sister who emigrated from New Zealand in the 1970s. The family grew to nearly 40 members ranging from grandparents to mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, aunts, uncles, nephews, brothers and sisters all engaging in various forms of incest. Many of the children suffered from deformities and medical problems.

“The video was another collaboration between director Tommy Jones and Broken Hope and we love the way this one played out with Tommy’s cool camera angles and the creepiness he injected into it. Enjoy!”
