Child Bite Gearing Up For Tour Dates With Syk

Housecore Records recording artists Child Bite and Syk will join forces later this week for a European live takeover. The journey will commence on July 21st in Milano, Italy, and rampage its way through nineteen cities, concluding August 12th in Plzen, Czech Republic.

The trek will mark the final performances for both Child Bite guitarist Brandon Sczomak and drummer Jeff Kraus, who joined the band in 2010 and 2014 respectively. Child Bite’s remaining tours for the year will feature guitarist Jeremy Waun from Detroit-based experimental punk metallers Reverend and previous Child Bite drummer Ben Moore, who played with the band from 2011 to 2013.

Comments frontman Shawn Knight, “It has been four years since our first European tour, so we are plenty ready to get back over there and freak some people out. [Housecore Records head, Philip] Anselmo introduced us to the music of Syk a year or two back and we were immediately intrigued. Both bands are kind of misfits so I believe we’ll get along just fine! Like a monstrous, eight-headed peanut butter and jelly sandwich wreaking havoc across the land…”

Agonia Records Inks Deal WIth Superia For New Album “The Lyricist”

Norway’s melodic extreme metal act, Susperia, comprising former members of Dimmu Borgir and Satyricon, have inked a record deal with Agonia Records, with plans to release the long-awaited new album, “The Lyricist.” By the same token, the band will close the eight-year gap that separates the last opus, “Attitude” (2009).

“The Lyricist” will be the first studio album to showcase new vocalist, Bernt Fjellestad (a.k.a. Dagon, central figure in the picture) (Guardians of Time), who’s official stage debut with the band was made at last year’s 70000 Tons Of Metal Festival at sea.

The band commented on the signing and upcoming material: “Susperia is proud to announce the signing with Agonia Records for our upcoming album ‘The Lyricist.’ It’s going to be a harder and more grim album, going back to Susperia’s black roots!.”

Susperia may have it’s roots in the Norwegian black metal scene, but it is merely a starting point for a band that describes the music as “extreme metal with melodic twists.” A simple philosophy of “no boundaries” demonstrates that the band has no hesitation in embracing and exploring a variety of musical avenues with ease.

The origins of the Oslo based group can be traced back to 1998 when Tjodalv, then occupying the drum seat with Dimmu Borgir, and long-time friend Cyrus (ex-Satyricon, Old Man’s Child) got together to share ideas and write songs. A chance meeting between vocalist Athera and Tjodalv at 1999’s Wacken Festival in Germany would lead to the completion of the Susperia line-up, as Athera brought in also two other members – bass guitarist Memnock and guitarist Elvorn.

The band’s line-up can easily be described as a long-lasting one, with all original members in place since its inception, and the exception of Dagon filling in Athera’s boots, after the latter’s departure in 2015. But even Dagon isn’t new to Susperia. He performed with it on several occasions as a live mussician, at times Athera had other engagements. Primarily a heavy metal signer, Dagon has mastered also other vocal techincs, performing with the band. Nowadays, there’s new found confidence and determination running through the Susperia camp.

With five studo albums under the belt and an etiquette of a powerful live act, Susperia has consistently remained focused on the live area. The band’s numerous high profile shows include supports to W.A.S.P., In Flames, Destruction and Dimmu Borgir, as well as headline and festival appearances. One of the group’s most cherished experiences thus far, remains the invitation to be the main support to the newly reformed Testament, in late 2005.

More news on “The Lyricist” will follow soon.

Circle Announces “Terminal” Album Release

Circle’s latest album “Terminal,” confirmed for release on June 23rd through Southern Lord, is pure hedonistic pleasure. Check out advance track “Kill City” below. Southern Lord also issued this statement:

“Never content on staying the same, Circle has created an idiosyncratic cocktail of sonic fusions, conjuring an impulsive, dizzying energy that stirs a spirit of curiosity within the listener, and possesses all who encounter the band.

“Whilst many would run out of creative steam after more than thirty albums, Circle continues to boldly explore sonic soundscapes, venturing curiously into terrains of Stooges-esque swagger, trance-inducing kraut rock mantras, beautiful electronic ambience, psychedelic rock noodling, arena storming AOR weirdness, ’70s prog rock extravagance, glam pop pomp, and of course their core sound, heavy metal, not to mention other peculiar and daring sounds that simply cannot be pigeonholed.”

1. Rakkautta Al Dente
2. Terminal
3. Saxo
4. Imperiumi
5. Kill City
6. Sick Child
