Whitechapel reveals details for new album, ‘The Valley’

– November 1st, 2018 –

New single, “Brimstone”, now online; “Ten Years of Exile” USA tour with Chelsea Grin, Oceano, Slaughter To Prevail kicks off today!

On March 29th, Whitechapel will release their 7th full-length, The Valley, via Metal Blade Records. Produced once again by Mark Lewis (Cannibal Corpse, The Black Dahlia Murder) and featuring artwork by Branca Studio, The Valley is a reference to the part of Hardin Valley (west of Knoxville, Tennessee) where vocalist Phil Bozeman grew up. Set against this backdrop, he approaches his subject matter unflinchingly, building upon everything that came before, making it clear that he has survived that which he was forced to endure and is not afraid to confront it. “Phil has been upfront in his lyrics in the past about hardships he endured in his life as a child, and I believe with this record we tried to paint a better picture of that,” says guitarist Alex Wade, who alongside his bandmates, stands 100% behind everything their vocalist has to say. “I feel our music is Phil’s release from his past, being able to get it out and speak about it, and hopefully anyone who hears it that may have gone through similar experiences can find some release in it as well.”

For a preview of The Valley, the first single, “Brimstone”, can be heard now at: metalblade.com/whitechapel – where the album can also be pre-ordered in the following formats:

Anyone throwing The Valley on for the first time will immediately recognize it as the work of Whitechapel, yet as has been the case with each release, there is also evolution in play. “Sound-wise, it’s all over the place,” Bozeman states plainly. “There’s aggression, and then you’re hit with ominous and emotional guitar riffs. It’s mean, but then transfers to soft and inviting. It’s a whirlwind of emotions throughout.”

Stay tuned for more news about The Valley coming soon!

Artery Recordings Sold to Warner Bros. Records – Entire Staff Has Been Let Go

Warner Bros. Records has acquired Artery Recordings. In a statement former president Shan Dan Horan confirms the news, which saw the entire staff of the label let go:

“To address the rumors, yes, Artery has been sold to Warner. I can’t disclose too much about the deal, but building up this company to a million record sales in just five years is a tremendous accomplishment for the fans, our artists and the team. I’m humbled and appreciate each and every band I’ve ever had the honor of developing at Artery Recordings. As we hand over the keys to Warner, I’m not quite sure their plans for the label or catalog, but I hope they keep the legacy alive. With new Slaves and Capture albums on the horizon, I’m sure the fans will be ecstatic.”

In the past Artery Recordings’ output included releases from Attila, Chelsea Grin, Kublai Khan and various others. Vents guitarist Jacob Harmond of Chelsea Grin, who put out 3 albums through the label, on the matter via Twitter:

Lol. So fucking wack. That label would be nothing without CG and Attila, and we don’t get SHIT for royalities. Bum ass shit ?????? https://t.co/ghQ17sXLRF

Riksha Posts “Skeleton Rain Dance” Music Video

Salt Lake City’s Riksha just released an official music video for “Skeleton Rain Dance,” taken from latest full-length album “Five Stages of Numb.” The video was shot at a green screen studio in Salt Lake City and was produced by Masha Goruleva of All4band Studios in Czech Republic Koruna.

Riksha frontman Palmer states, “The song ‘Skeleton Rain Dance’ was inspired by the loss of (our bassist) Kevin Bronson’s brother (Carcass). The song is about feeling invisible, feeling lost in one’s own skin, loneliness and suicide.”

Riksha recently inked a worldwide deal with Zombie Shark Records, the new record label from Noah “Shark” Robertson (Motograter, Ex-The Browning). The band’s latest album “Five Stages Of Numb” was recorded at Elevate Studios by notable producer and drummer for Chelsea Grin, Pablo Viveros. Album art was provided by Die Elster.
