Heavy Metal Guitar Cruise “Axes & Anchors” Announced

In an age where heavy metal music cruises with high-profile line-ups are becoming a dime a dozen, it’s about time that true guitar pros, gearheads, theorists and hobbyists have a voyage of their own. Imagine a cruise exclusively planned for guitarists and instrumentalists, featuring performances and personal lessons from some of the greatest guitar gods on the planet.

Wake up – you are not dreaming! Prepare to learn from the masters on what fans have dubbed the “shredders cruise:” the 5-day/4-night Axes & Anchors cruise aboard the Carnival Victory, departing from Miami, FL on February 20th, stopping in Key West, FL and Nassau, Bahamas, and docking back in Miami on February 24th.

Witness blazing performances and take lessons directly from world-class rock and metal guitarists including Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne, Black Label Society), Yngwie Malmsteen, Michael Schenker (Scorpions, UFO, MSG), Alex Skolnick (Testament, Trans-Siberian Orchestra), Tracii Guns (Guns N’ Roses, LA Guns), Dario Lorina (Black Label Society, Lizzy Borden), and more, all while sailing the high seas and visiting exotic locales.

Passengers can look forward to more than 40 performances, about a dozen free guitar workshops, as well as games and mingling with guitar gods, and more. Alex Skolnick comments: “For generations now, the guitar has remained a source of creativity and symbol of coolness, defying strange musical trends, poor economic forecasts and more, all the while providing a sonic backdrop to good times and bad. I consider it a great honor to be joining Yngwie, Zakk and many other great players as part of Axes & Anchors the very first cruise built around the guitar.”

“This cruise will surely appeal to guitar players who want to take their skills to the next level in this really fun, unique, and immersive setting,” said Ann Squire, co-owner of Axes & Anchors, “Passengers will get to meet their idols and learn from them in between stops at exotic beaches and on-board parties. All of the performers are bringing full bands, and we will be adding some iconic bands to our lineup as well, but as our name implies, the focus now is on guitar-dominated rock.”

Motorhead Announces Motorboat Cruise On-Board Activities

The first annual Motörhead Motörboat – featuring Megadeth, Motörhead, and Anthrax -will sail from Miami, visiting the ports of Key West, Florida and Cozumel just off Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula for the September 22nd – 26th, 2014 cruise on the Carnival Ecstasy.

The fest will also include Testament, Down, High On Fire, plus Kill Devil Hill, Zakk Wylde, Jim Breuer Band, Danko Jones, Fireball Ministry, and Wilson. While onboard, guests will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to interact with band members and will see unforgettable performances on various stages throughout the ship.

A limited number of cabins are still available for Motörhead’s Motörboat at this location.

Additional onboard performances and activities have been announced for Motörhead’s Motörboat, including a spoken word performance by heavy metal musician, author, and television personality Scott Ian.

Scott’s spoken word performances in support of his upcoming “Swearing Words In Glasgow” CD (out November 13th via Megaforce Records) are an honest look at the insane life that he has led for the last 31 years, the people he’s met, and the events that coincide. After decades-worth of international touring with Anthrax, bumping elbows with illustrious (and sometimes ridiculous) characters all over the media spectrum, and undergoing general “you won’t believe this” experiences, Scott certainly has some hilarious and surprisingly personal stories to share.

Those onboard Motörhead’s Motörboat will also be treated to a screening of the 2010 documentary film “Lemmy,” directed by Greg Olliver and Wes Orshoski. In addition, theme nights for Motörhead’s Motörboat are as follows:

Monday, September 22 — Löud and Hometown Pröud

Motörhead’s Motörboat will have a very diverse and international crowd. Guests are encouraged to be proud of where they come from. Wear a state jersey, don your Nordic horns, paint your face and show your city/state/country pride.

Tuesday, September 23 — Pajamarama

“Rock on out in your jammies!” It’s the biggest slumber party on the open seas. We know some people like to sleep in the buff, so remember that you have to wear something, even if it’s minimal. And who knows, there might even be the biggest pillow fight of all time?

Wednesday, September 24 — Fiesta En Barco

Motörboat is going to Mexico and back. It’s siesta and fiesta day! In the morning – sleep late. We don’t get off the boat in Cozumel until 1pm. (There will be activities a’plenty in the morning – info on those will come later). When we get back, it’s FIESTA all night – bring something from home, or pick up something new in Mexico – show off how you spent your day: sombreros, Mexican wrestling masks, donkeys, your tequila face, anything…

Thursday, September 25 — Go To Heaven, Raise Hell

This is our full day at sea! It’s Heaven & Hell, Leather & Lace. It’s the best of both worlds. Show us your good side or your naughty side. As we pay homage to those rock gods that have passed, come to our all star jam dressed as your favorite rocker, groupie, devil, or angel. The sky and the sea are the limit!

Internal Bleeding Posts “Castigo Corpus Meum” Video

Having shattered legs and various other limbs with a pioneering style of slam since the early ’90s, New York death metal band Internal Bleeding is preparing to initiate it’s latest offensive with the release of “Imperium” on September 30th (the band’s first release in nearly a decade).

“Imperium” was produced by the band alongside Joe Cincotta at Full Force Studio (Suffocation, Dehumanized, Mortal Decay) in Ronkonkoma, New York. As a precursor to it’s unveiling, today Metal Injection premieres a new video for the album’s closing bruiser, “Castigo Corpus Meum.”

Loosely meaning “I punish my body,” this smoldering clip serves as the band’s first official music video in it’s entire twenty-plus year career. Comments drummer Bill Tolley, “We chose ‘Castigo’ because it contains everything you’d expect from us – the spine crushing slams, the dramatic tempo changes and heavy grooves – plus it has a bit of a surprise twist at the end that we think makes the song interesting and a bit different than what you’d expect from us.”

Check out the video below, and you can also catch the band live on the Carnival of Death tour in October. Dates are available after the jump.

Obituary Kicking Off North American Tour Dates With Broken Hope And More

The Florida death metal ministers in Obituary are set to kick off their first North American headlining tour in over three years this weekend. Brought to you by Rock The Nation and sponsored by Fender, the Carnival Of Death Tour 2012 will commence this Saturday in Orlando, Florida and tear its way through nearly two dozen cities. Further brutality will come from reunited death metallers Broken Hope as well as Decrepit Birth, Jungle Rot, and Encrust.

Obituary is also currently writing the follow up to the “Darkest Day” full-length, released in 2009 via Candlelight Records, with official details to be announced in the coming weeks.

The Carnival Of Death Tour marks Obituary’s first full North American tour run as a four-piece with death metal alumnus Terry Butler (Death, Six Feet Under, Massacre, Denial Fiend) on bass. For this trek, the band — vocalist John Tardy, drummer Donald Tardy, guitarist Trevor Peres and Butler — compiled a special fan-generated set list that will delve deep into the back catalog to include tunes predominantly off the group’s first three full-lengths: “Slowly We Rot,” “Cause Of Death,” and “The End Complete.”

Comments Donald Tardy: “We are super excited about the start of the Carnival Of Death Tour. It has been a long time since we toured extensively across the US and Canada. For the first time we went to our fans and asked their help in picking the songs for this ‘classic set’ and it really turned out to be a great set list. Most of these songs we have not played in over a decade and some of them we’ve never performed onstage so the anticipation is killing me! It’s was quite the challenge to re-learn songs from 20 years ago but we are ready to blow our old fans away and hopefully gain some new ones. The scene has been set, the fans have selected the songs and the time has come to hit the road and kick off this Carnival…. send in the Clowns!”
