Religious Group Protesting Carach Angren’s Christmas Eve Performance

Carach Angren’s upcoming Christmas Eve performance has got some panties in a twist, with a local religious group worried about “demons influencing the youth of Amstelveen” if the show is allowed to go on.

Youtuber ovd806 just uploaded a video featuring clips of news coverage regarding the event and also commented:

“This is a compilation (first 2 parts with subtitles in English) of the news on internet/TV about the infamous performance by Carach Angren and The Monlith Deathcult in venue P60 Amstelveen, that will take place Christmas Eve in 2016.

“A local political Christian party accused the bands of being ‘dark’ ‘develish’ and a great danger for the youth of Amstelveen. They went as far as comparing Carach Angren with Anders Breivik, the idiot who shot 77 innocent men, women and children on the island Utøya.

“They also compared CA with Tristan van der Vlis, a 24-year old troubled guy who started shooting in a shopping mall, thereby killing 6 people and wounding 17 before killing himself. By listening to heavy metal people most likely could turn into another Anders or Tristan, as far as that Christian party (Christen Unie) is concerned.”

Ex Deo Issues “The Immortal Wars” Album Update

Ancient Rome influenced metal band Exo Deo has completed the writing process for the third installment “The Immortal Wars” after months of piecing together the new concept album surrounding the historic and famous Punic wars with Hannibal’s Carthage.

Ex Deo is set to enter JFD Studios in Texas and Pirate Studio in Montreal, Canada with producer J-F Dagenais (Kataklysm, Malevolent Creation, Misery index, Despised Icon) to record this new opus.

Frontman Maurizio Iacono describes it as “an ultimate historic lesson dipped in violence and blended with and incredibly brutal score that will transport you back in time and get your blood boiling, no details have been spared.”

Mixing duties will be handled in Sweden by acclaimed producer Jens Bogren (Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, Fleshgod Apocalypse) this September. Expect an early February 2017 release via Napalm Records worldwide.

Orchestral score composer Clemens Wijers (Carach Angren, Lindmann, Pain) comments: “I had the privilege to compose and produce the orchestral score for the new phenomenal album ‘The Immortal Wars’ by Ex Deo. For me as a composer this was a huge challenge as it pushed me to reinvent myself, surrounded by the great Roman atmosphere that Ex Deo breathes throughout their music. The songs were asking for fierce aggressive orchestrations combined with emotional passages underscoring the narrative throughout. Coming from a background in writing epic and horror oriented orchestral music I was able to leave my signature on this remarkable work. I’m beyond proud of the end result and can’t wait until the album is finally out!”
