Plini Premiere New Video “Salt + Charcoal” – New EP “Sunhead” To Be Released This Month

Plini has a new EP called “Sunhead” scheduled for a July 27th release. Below you can check out a video for the a first song titled “Charcoal And Dust” from it. The track features guest backing vocals and production from Skyharbor‘s Devesh Dayal.

Speaking of how the effort came to be, Plini himself commented:

“I started working on the material almost straight after ‘Handmade Cities‘ was released in 2016, sort of with the goal to make a very big, small EP – aiming to put as much detail and refinement into the composition and playing as possible. Both musically and emotionally, the music is greatly influenced by the amount of touring and travel I’ve done in the past couple of years.

I was particularly inspired by Animals As Leaders (who I toured Europe and North America with in 2016), by the musical adventurousness in their last album, and Disperse (who I toured with in Europe in early 2017) for the way they seamlessly combined contemporary pop and electronic elements with prog-metal – updating a genre that sometimes seems (ironically for the name, “progressive”) entrenched in old musical cliches.

Aside from this, I think the ‘Sunhead‘ EP is a musical expression of the pure excitement that comes with traveling to new places, meeting new people and eating new things.”

August will find Plini out playing the following European/UK shows:

08/10 Karlovy Vary, CZE – Musicians Festival
08/11 Josefov, CZE – Brutal Assault

Davd Diepold Of Benighted Named Guest For Demonstealer

Demonstealer has announced another international drummer to contribute towards the much awaited new release “The Last Reptilian Warrior.” Having already employed the services of Kevin Paradis, the band is proud to announce David Diepold from Benighted.

Demonstealer is the solo project of Sahil Makhija who is the founding member of one of India’s biggest bands, Demonic Resurrection. He dons multiple roles and the music is completely in his own vision with ample experimentation and collaborations. The previous Demonstealer album received much praise and saw the release of several official videos in its support. The new album is said to be more death metal and with a number of exemplary musicians slated to be a part of it, it’s highly anticipated around the world. A funding campaign through PledgeMusic is ongoing at this location.

Makhija commented: “I’m super stoked to announced that David Diepold is going to be playing a song on my upcoming EP titled ‘The Last Reptilian Warrior.’ I’ve been floored by his YouTube videos and when I saw him play live in 2015 with Benighted at Brutal Assault I was floored. I had a chance to meet him at the festival and I’ve been wanting to collaborate with him for a while and I’m super excited that he’s now part of this EP. If you don’t know who he is just watch his videos HERE. That’s not all, I had said that there were going to be 3 drummers on this EP, it might just be 4 drummers now. Stay tuned for details.”

The band has also recruited the services of renowned Indian artist Reuben Bhattacharya (Visual Amnesia), who did the breathtaking artwork of the latest Demonic Resurrection album.

Stay tuned for more details.

Metal Church Recruits New Drummer Stet Howland

Fans that have seen Metal Church live at recent shows in the United States and Europe may have noticed a new face on stage. The guy behind the kit has been none other than Stet Howland, and now that transitional process is complete, Metal Church is happy to announce the addition of Stet Howland as the band’s permanent new drummer.

Vocalist Mike Howe commented: “I am overwhelmed and grateful that Stet has found his way into the fold and I look forward to many successful and joyful performances together.”

Guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof added: “We are extremely happy to have Stet as our new engine. He is a fantastic drummer and a great guy to work with. But the hazing shall continue relentlessly!”

Stet Howland shares his excitement about joining Metal Church: “After being home for only a few days from possibly the best tour of my life, I received a conference call from Kurdt and Mike, for a split second I thought to myself ‘Oh shit, what did I do?’ But my concern quickly turned to an un-removable smile when they asked if I would be interested in being a permanent member of Metal Church.

“It’s no secret that Metal Church have always been one of my favourite metal bands and that, in my opinion, they are on the strongest ascent of any band in their genre! And given that the band kicks ass live, has an incredible record label, a rabid fan base, relevant new music, recent Billboard chart positions and first week CD sales that rival multi-platinum acts, my answer was an unwavering ‘YES!’

“On my maiden journey I was blown away by Mike Howe’s consistent crowd destruction, Kurdt’s ridiculously heavy riffs, Rick Van Zandt’s refusal to make even one mistake and my glue-like bond with Steve (it’s a well-known fact that Metal Church bass player Steve Unger is one of my closest friends and it was Steve who initially suggested me to the band).

“There is understanding, mutual respect and camaraderie present here that is missing in so many ‘famous’ acts. I am honoured to be a member of such a group of people and will do my best to deliver strong performances both live and in the studio.”

Igorrr launches “Opus Brain” video online

– May 3rd, 2017 –

On June 16th, Igorrr – the brainchild of French musician and eclectic composer Gautier Serre – will release their new album, Savage Sinusoid, via Metal Blade Records. On this record, electronic manipulations, accordion, saxophone, sitar, harpsichord, mandolin and strings sit comfortably alongside ruthless blastbeats, chunky riffs, death grunts and soaring operatic vocals – and as chaotic as this might sometimes seem, there is no lack of heart behind everything thundering from the speakers. For a preview of Savage Sinusoid, a new video for the track “Opus Brain” (directed by Garrick J. Lauterbach // vimeo.com/letterboxcollective) can be viewed at: youtube.com/watch?v=Z5Qk89_xMcs

The album’s first single, “ieuD”, and part 1 of the making of Savage Sinusoid can also be viewed at: metalblade.com/igorrr – where the record can be pre-ordered in the following formats:

–Digipak CD
–pale skin clear vinyl (limited to 500 copies)
–cream/white splatter (limited to 200 copies – EU exclusive)
–golden yellow vinyl (limited to 100 copies – Bandcamp exclusive)
–tan-marbled vinyl (limited to 200 copies – US exclusive)
*exclusive bundles with a shirt, plus digital options are also available!

Savage Sinusoid track-listing:
1. Viande
2. ieuD
3. Houmous
4. Opus Brain
5. Problème d’émotion
6. Spaghetti Forever
7. Cheval
8. Apopathodiaphulatophobie
9. Va te foutre
10. Robert
11. Au Revoir

To realize Savage Sinusoid as a completely sample-free record, Serre reunited with vocalists Laurent Lunoir and Laure Le Prunenec, along with drummer Sylvain Bouvier, and collaborated with more musicians than on any of his previous releases – one of those guests being Cattle Decapitation‘s Travis Ryan, who lends his vocals on “Cheval”, “Apopathodiaphulatophobie” and “Robert”. “Viande” also sees Teloch (Mayhem) contribute some guitar/bass work, while “Houmous” features accordionists Pierre Mussi and Adam Stacey (the latter of whom is in Secret Chiefs 3 – a project by Mr. Bungle‘s Trey Spruance). While Savage Sinusoid draws from a plethora of genres, Serre has no intention of baffling or alienating potential listeners. As he explains:“I just want to make the music I love, without asking myself if it’s gonna be too complex or too far from what people like. I want to make the music which has sense to me, with no restrictions, like a big party with metalheads, electronics nerds, classical and baroque-heads and gypsy violinists getting drunk and joining together to bring the best of every genre.”

Igorrr will give European fans their first taste of new songs this spring/summer, with more shows to be announced soon. See below for all dates!
