Monolithe Releasing New Album “Zeta Reticuli”

Monolithe continues a fascinating musical journey with new album “Zeta Reticuli,” which is part two of the “Epsilon Aurigae” series and is due to drop July 8th via Debemur Morti Productions. The label comments:

“On this new colossal opus, the band – more powerful than ever – transposes the bold, exploratory approach of greats such as Magma or Univers Zero into the mystical universe of cosmic heavy music. ‘Zeta Reticuli’ is a monster: a stellar explosion of sound and emotion powered by a massive groove and avalanches of overwhelming riffs.

“Simultaneously epic, grandiose, melodic and deadly heavy, ‘Zeta Reticuli’ expands the definition of doom metal in a sublime refinement and reinvention of Monlithe’s history. Mesmerizing and fascinating from beginning to end, this brilliant new album is undoubtedly the magnum opus of this incredibly unique band.”

Blind Guardian Reveals “Beyond The Red Mirror” Album Details

“Beyond The Red Mirror” will be the title of the tenth studio album by Germany’s Blind Guardian.

Four-and-a-half years in the making, the follow-up to 2010’s “At The Edge Of Time” (reviewed here) is scheduled for release in Europe on January 30th, 2015 and February 3rd, 2015 in North America.

Recorded at Twilight Hall Studio in Grefrath, Germany and produced by Charlie Bauerfeind, “Beyond The Red Mirror” showcases Blind Guardian’s collaborative work with three different classical choirs: one from the Czech Republic (Prague), one from Hungary (Budapest), and one from the United States (Boston). Two grand orchestras – each featuring 90 musicians – also lend their brilliant talents to the new recordings.

Transporting listeners via a mysteriously powerful red mirror into an otherworldly dimension that includes tyrants, gods, and the Holy Grail, the ten songs comprising the album’s story lines revolve around the young protagonist we first met twenty years ago in the 1995 tracks “Bright Eyes” and “And The Story Ends.”

“A story between science fiction and fantasy,” explains Blind Guardian vocalist & lyricist Hansi Kürsch. “The story begins with our 1995 album, Imaginations From The Other Side. The two worlds described therein have changed dramatically for the worse since then. While there used to be several passages between the worlds, there is only one gate left now: The Red Mirror. It has to be found at any cost.”

Asked to describe the band’s guiding principles for the creation of this new release, Blind Guardian guitarist André Olbrich shares: “We want to surprise and impress with our music. Nowadays, music tends to be arbitrary and predictable. But we want to keep developing our music.”

The track listing is as follows:

01. Ninth Wave
02. Twilight Of The Gods
03. Prophecies
04. At The Edge Of Time
05. Ashes Of Eternity
06. Distant Memories (bonus track on limited editions + vinyl)
07. Holy Grail
08. The Throne
09. Sacred Mind
10. Miracle Machine
11. Grand Parade

Napalm Records Signs The Flight Of Sleipnir

Colorado psychedelic doom act The Flight Of Sleipnir has signed on with Napalm Records. The band recently issued the band’s fourth release “Saga” this past February via Eyes Like Snow Records. The first release through Napalm is targeted for early 2014.

The announcement from the label reads: “Napalm Records/Spinning Goblin Productions is extremely proud to announce the world wide signing of The Flight Of Sleipnir. The Psychedelic Doom Masters from Colorado caught our attention because of their musical genius in combining aspects of Doom/Psychedelic with Folk and Progressive elements and magically package them with simply the most beautiful folk/pagan inspired album artworks ever. Here at Napalm we can truly say that we have been fan of The Flight Of Sleipnir for many years and are absolutely euphoric to have this brilliant band join our troops of doom!”

Multi-musician and vocalist Cllay Cushman commented: “The Flight Of Sleipnir is pleased to announce our signing with Napalm Records/Spinning Goblin Productions. We are excited at the opportunity to work with such a reputable label and are honored to gain the support that only a label like Napalm can provide. As fans of several Napalm artists for many years, it is also an honor to be included among so many diverse and influential artists. We have had very positive experiences with our previous label, Eyes Like Snow, but when Napalm showed their interest in TFOS we knew it was time to move on to achieve some of the many goals we have. We are hard at work on our next album which is slotted for an early 2014 worldwide release through Napalm.”

Red Fang Releases "Hank Is Dead" Video Clip

Portland, Oregon’s Red Fang has posted a new video online for “Hank Is Dead,” which is taken from the band’s “Murder The Mountains” release. Red Fang worked with director extraordinaire, Whitey McConnaughy on the video which can be viewed below.

Drummer John Sherman spoke about the “Hank is Dead” video: “Another great concept from the brilliant mind of Whitey McConnaughy. This one came together super quick with the help of some insane Portland locals and their sick air guitar skills. We basically just threw a big party and had a blast while a bunch of cameras ran. That is my shower Aaron and Bryan and Bobcat are in at the intro, btw. It still has a weird ring around it…”

Red Fang is currently on tour in Europe with Mastodon. The tour runs through February 11th in London and includes Red Fang headline dates in addition to the shows with Mastodon.
