Anubis Gate Finishes Recording New Album

Anubis Gate has wrapped up work on a new album to follow 2014’s “Horizons.” The band just issued this brief statement:

“Jacob Hansen and Kim on their usual end of mix selfie. Meaning NEW ANUBIS GATE ALBUM IS FINISHED. And it is sounding bloody fantastic.”

Slipknot’s Mick Thomson Stabbed In Head During Altercation

Update: Corey Taylor has now issued this brief statement via Twitter: “Mick Update – from what I’ve heard he’s okay. We’re sending him all your thoughts. Thank you for that.”

KCCI.com is reporting that Mick Thomson of Slipknot was stabbed in the head during an altercation with his brother. The report reads:

Police said two brothers were injured early Wednesday morning in a knife fight in a Clive front yard.

Clive police said police were dispatched to 1905 NW 129th Street, where a caller said two brothers were fighting in the front yard with knives.

Police said Mickeal Gordon Thomson, 41, who lives at the home, and Andrew Thomson, of Des Moines, were involved in some sort of altercation inside the home.

According to police, the altercation spilled into the front yard, where the incident became physical.

Officers said both men appeared to be intoxicated and had serious injuries consistent with a fight. Police said Mickael Thomson sustained a stab wound to the back of his head. None of the injuries were life-threatening.

Methedras Recruits New Vocalist Tito

Italian metal outfit Methedras has issued the following brief statement about recruiting a new vocalist:

“Hey bros we’re keen to finally announce the new Methedras singer! His name is Tito and he’s a long-time friend of ours, already serving harsh vocals in bands like Endless Pain and Eisen and will cover vocals also for us from now on as an official and stable member. Welcome on board man.”

Asgeir Mickelson Parts Ways With Sarke

Asgeir Mickelson has announced via a brief statement on his official Facebook page and on the Sarke page that he has parted ways with the Norwegian band.

This news has led some fans to wonder if this means a return to Spiral Architect (check out the FB comments below). Mickelson has also slowly been working on his all-star project God Of Atheists, which features appearances by ICS Vortex, Ihshan, Trym, and Carl August Tidemann.

Former Deadlock Drummer Tobias Graf Dead At 35, Label Announces

Lifeforce Records has issued the following brief statement:

“Today we come to you with very sad news, long time dear friend Tobias Graf and founding member of Deadlock passed away at the age of 35. We can hardly express the sadness in our hearts and we wish his family all possible strength in these dark hours. Farewell Tobi and may you have a safe journey!”

The cause of death was not specified. Graf co-founded German melodic/symphonic death metal group Deadlock in 1997. He left the band in April of this year. Deadlock’s multi-disc collection of re-recordings, “The Re-Arrival,” was released on August 15th and is available now through Lifeforce.

Megadeth Cancels Upcoming Tour Plans

Megadeth has issued the following brief statement online about cancelling all upcoming live appearances:

“Megadeth has canceled immediate tour plans as bassist David Ellefson and his family mourn the loss of his brother, who passed away on May 19, in Minneapolis, Minn. after battling cancer. A private family funeral service will be held.

“The band sends their deepest condolences and prayers to David during this time and ask that the fans please do the same. For up to date tour info, visit our website here.”

The Duskfall Signs To Apostasy Records, Posts Album Trailer

Apostasy Records has issued the following brief statement about inking a deal with The Duskfall:

Mourners Lament Parts Ways With Drummer Rodrigo Benavides

Chilean act Mourners Lament has posted the following brief statement online about parting ways with the band’s drummer:

“We want to announce that Rodrigo Benavides is no longer a part of Mourners Lament. Rodrigo has decided to leave the band, due to personal reasons. Rorro: We wish you the very best and every success in your future endeavours… we would like to thank you once again for all.

“In the meantime, We’re looking for a great drummer for our band and writing for our new album, (the new songs are sounding better than anything we’ve done to date).

“We are aiming for a summer 2014 release… thanks you again to our friends and fans for all patience and support! More details coming soon.”

Lillian Axe In Accident, Cancels Texas Tour Dates

Lillian Axe checked in with the following announcement several hours ago on Facebook about the band being involved in an accident:

“Unfortunately the following shows will be cancelled and rescheduled:

August 8 Dallas, TX at Trees
August 9 Houston, TX at the Scout Bar

“The band and crew we in a very bad accident overnight traveling to Dallas. There were NO fatalities. Band and crew are currently being evaluated at the hospital.”

The band’s Facebook profile has also now been updated with this brief statement: “UPDATE: Steve, Eric and Richard DID NOT sustain any major injuries however they will not be able to perform. They are being treated and should be released shortly from the hospital.”

The Dillinger Escape Plan Nearing Completion Of New Album

The Dillinger Escape Plan has issued the following brief statement online about completing work on an upcoming new album:

“Only a couple weeks of recording to go and our new album will be finished. We’re keeping our blistering pace of once every three years.”

The band also recently commented online: “While others celebrate the holidays….we are working on this new album. When others ring in the new year….we will be working on this new album.
