The Wizards Sign With Fighter Records, New Album Details Revealed

Spanish ’70s hard/heavy rock band The Wizards has inked a deal with Fighter Records for the release of the highly anticipated second album “Full Moon in Scorpio,” which will see the light on May 16th internationally.

Formed in Bilbao (Basque Country) back in 2013, these five outcasts decided to form a band after several intense sessions of drug abuse and hard liquor drinking marathons at backyard parties where the records of Black Sabbath, Danzing, The Cult, Blue Oyster Cult, Pentagram, Deep Purple, Dio, Horisont, and Electric Wizard were played so loud, neighbors would call the police sooner than expected.

In January 2014, The Wizards recorded the first demo, “Plagues.” With only four songs recorded and a bunch of covers, the band was able to win the 26th edition of the local pop/rock contest Villa de Bilbao. During 2015, the band released the self-titled debut album through its own label, Witch Records, in collaboration with French label Geea Music.

The band played live in France, Basque Country, and Spain opening for legendary bands and artists such as The Dictators, Iggy Pop, and Turbonegro, sharing the stage with bands like Horisont, Peter Pan Speed Rock, and Hypnos among others. The Wizards was even invited to participate in festivals such as Madrid Stoner Scene Fest, Kriston Fest, and Faan Fest.

During April 2016, The Wizards entered Gaua Studio together with Brooklyn-based produced Dean Rispler, current bass-player for The Dictators. During two weeks, they recorded eight songs that form the upcoming second album. “Full Moon in Scorpio” was engineered by Asier Zubelbu and mixed and mastered by Jesse Cannon (The Cure, The Misfits, The Dillinger Escape Plan) at Cannon Found Soundation in Union City, New Jersey.

The new release contains eight tracks of hard & heavy rock attack, the lyrics dealing with such issues as the destruction of the veils that blind us, the vast concepts of space and time, the search for spiritual enlightenment, and so on. For the band, it truly means a step forward in the quest for world domination. The sound is bigger, the songs are better, and The Wizards is ready to destroy and fuck things up wherever a presence is needed. The western world is collapsing – let’s dance over the fires while we howl at the Scorpio Moon. All in the name of rock ‘n’ roll – all in the name of Lucifer!

“Full Moon in Scorpio” will be released in CD and vinyl LP formats. In the meantime, check out lead off track “Avidya” below. The album artwork and track listing can be found here:

1. Avidya
2. Calliope (Cosmic Revelations)
3. Odinist
4. Stardust
5. Leaving the Past Behind
6. Halftones to Eternity

New Single “You Don’t Know” Streaming From Kobra And The Lotus

It’s been three years since Kobra And The Lotus’ last studio album “High Priestess” was released back in 2014. The time since has not been wasted; with the third album under it’s belt, and completing multiple tours worldwide (with the likes of Kamelot, Sonata Arctica, Black Label Society, and Fear Factory to name just a few), the path of self-discovery has led the band to this most important moment: “Prevail I,: the band’s latest offering. The album will be released on May 12th via Napalm Records. Check out he new song “You Don’t Know” in the player below.

“Prevail I” promises to be a rock juggernaut full of blistering guitars, pounding rhythms and haunting vocal melodies that will take the listener on a sonic journey leading them out from the darkness and into the light! Produced by Jacob Hansen (Pyramaze, Volbeat, Amaranthe, Epica etc) and mastered by Grammy award winning Ted Jensen, “Prevail I” will undoubtedly usher the band to much deserved elevated hard rock status. Evolution is inevitable and Kobra And The Lotus have delivered their most powerful album to date.

Says vocalist Kobra Paige: “To be alive brings many great things but among those things includes great suffering. It’s painful to feel backed into a corner, judged, misunderstood for who we really are. We can never really know a person until we have seen their point of view, crawled into their skin, and walked a mile in their shoes, but that will never happen. This is the anthem for the man, the woman, the human, navigating their life the best way they can. After all “You don’t know what it’s like to be me.”

Prevail I, with Prevail II to complete the story in the not too distant future, sports the following track list:

1. Gotham
2. TriggerPulse
3. You Don’t Know
4. Specimen X (The Mortal Chamber)
5. Light Me Up
6. Manifest Destiny
7. Victim
8. Check The Phyrg
9. Hell On Earth
10. Prevail

Nargaroth Posts “Era Of Threnody” Album Teaser

Inter Arma Productions is gearing up for the May 16th release for Nargaroth’s seventh album, “Era of Threnody.” A teaser trailer is available below, and the label comments:

“Ever aptly titled, ‘Era of Threnody’ burns with rage and repose – a war cry from a battlefield long forgotten, a remembrance of sorrows past, present, and future. Across its 65-minute landscape, the 10 songs which comprise ‘Era of Threnody’ paint a portrait of Nargaroth at its most dynamic: nearly every unique era of the band is represented, but executed with a startling sense of professionalism.

“But let it be known that ‘professionalism’ in no way should be conflated with mainstream ambitions, for this is still pure ‘n’ pristine BLACK METAL in all its monochromatic grandeur. More accurately, perhaps, ‘Era of Threnody’ is the sound of Nargaroth at the height of its powers, well rested from the studio hiatus and eager ‘n’ emboldened by an upcoming European tour with Absu and Hate. The time of reckoning is at hand, and it is indeed the ‘Era of Threnody!'”

1. Dawn of Epiphany
2. Whither Goest Thou
3. Conjunction Underneath The Alpha Weel
4. …As Orphans Drifting In A Desert Night
5. The Agony Of A Dying Phoenix
6. Epicedium To A Broken Dream
