Oni Releases “Barn Burner” Lyric Video

Technical progressive metal band Oni has announced the release of debut scorcher “Ironshore,” due out Black Friday, November 25th via Blacklight Media/Metal Blade Records.

After turning heads with first single “Eternal Recurrence,” the band is following with new track “Barn Burner,” which you can hear below. “Barn Burner” is presented in lyric video form, directed by Wovenwar/ex-As I Lay Dying guitarist Nick Hipa.

Bassist Chase Bryant discusses the inspiration behind the track: “Our front-man, Jake Oni, and I originally discussed including a ‘get in the pit and die’ track on the album, and ‘Barn Burner’ is that track. Musically, we went for something fast, heavy, and based around dream-like, mysterious tones. The track is inspired by a dream I had about parallel universes – I could see them all lined up like ripples in the water. A girl walked between the ripples and changed her surroundings at will. After having that vivid dream and working on conceptualizing it with Jake, the lyrics for ‘Barn Burner’ just poured themselves onto the page.”

2. Eternal Recurrence
3. The Only Cure (featuring Randy Blythe of Lamb of God)
4. The Science
5. Spawn and Feed
6. Chasing Ecstasy

White Zombie Re-Releasing Early Material As “It Came From N.Y.C.”

Years before Beavis and Butt-head headbanged “Thunder Kiss ’65” and “More Human than Human” into the eternal rock video canon, there was primordial White Zombie – a quintessential, diabolically loud byproduct of Manhattan’s underground rock scene, born of art-school rendezvous and squalid apartment circumstance.

On June 3rd, 2016, Numero resurrects White Zombie’s eternally out-of-print early EPs and LPs as “It Came From N.Y.C.” This set is the most exhaustive attempt so far to document the band’s wondrously ugly birth. Get reintroduced to White Zombie as New York noise-rock, a grotesque creation that clawed and threatened its way to crossover metal glory.

Spread across five LPs or three compact discs, all 39 tracks have been remastered by White Zombie guitarist J. Yuenger and packaged alongside the original lurid artwork. The accompanying 108-page book painstakingly documents White Zombie’s punishing progression through scores of unpublished photos, period discography, a T-shirtography, and tales from the terrifying early years that stitch together the sordid story of a band whose true power eclipsed its mainstream heyday. Heavy Metal Black Friday 2015 Deals Revealed

It’s almost Black Friday again (which for many stores has essentially just become “Black Month” as the sales start earlier and employees are expected to work all Thanksgiving) and you might not think that matters to metalheads, but many of the labels actually jump on that bandwagon.

Best of all – you don’t have to go to a store at four in the morning to get these deals.

The holiday / Thanksgiving / Christmas sales are already ramping up through the various online distros, so if you’re looking for new music on a budget, these heavy metal Black Friday deals will help you find new tunes.

This is just the start though, so check back in each day as we add in more deals. Specifically look for Amazon to launch something big soon, as that online juggernaut usually does $5 albums that rotate out each day. If you know of any metal sales that aren’t listed below, be sure to leave a comment and we’ll get it added.

The Omega Order is offering 25% off a large selection of death metal, gore grind, and grindcore discs this week.

Comatose Music has an ongoing sale where you get a free CD of $10 or less if you buy three CDs totaling $30 – the deal stacks too, so you can get two free CDs at $60 and three free CDs at $90.

Sevared Records has a sale going all week in celebration of Black Friday where orders are 20% off with coupon code “BLACKFRIDAY.” Your order will also include a free 21 track compilation.

The Earache Christmas sale has already begun and features big discounts on CDs, vinyl, t-shirts, and band patches covering a wide range of bands from At The Gates to Woods Of Ypres.

Rather than offering a discount on the music itself, Divebomb Records is discounting the shipping, offering 1 cent shipping and handling if you buy any combination of at least six CDs.

For you Rob Zombie fanatics, the director/musician is offering 20% off anything on his online store with the coupon code “EARLY20.”

Starting Wednesday, November 25 at 9PM, all items (excluding pre-orders) at the Relapse web store are 25% off until Sunday, Nov 29 at 11:59pm EST.

Robert Trujillo Releasing Jaco Pastorius Documentary

Robert Trujillo, in association with Passion Pictures, has announced the official multi-platform release of the “Jaco” documentary, directed by Mr. Paul Marchand and Stephen Kijak.

The film – which chronicles the brief but extraordinary life of the American musician/composer Jaco Pastorius – will be available via VOD, streaming services, and digital download on Friday, November 27, 2015.

Jaco will have its official DVD/Blu-ray release that day, in association with Record Store Day and Black Friday 2015. That same day will also see the release of “Jaco: Original Soundtrack,” Sony/Legacy’s official musical companion to the film.

Trujillo – bassist with Metallica and the film’s Executive Producer – will celebrate “Jaco” and Record Store Day Black Friday 2015 with a special in-store at The Sound Garden in Syracuse, NY. For details, head to this location.

“Jaco” has earned applause at a number of festivals, including the inaugural Asbury Park Music in Film Festival and the Montreal International Jazz Festival. The film “(captures) the essence of what made Jaco such an influential artist,” declared the Montreal Gazette, praising “the glowing words of Marchand’s interviewees and the many recorded and live musical excerpts that he lets speak for themselves” and hailing the movie as “an enlightening introduction to a groundbreaking musician.”

Autopsy Announces Two Upcoming Releases

The U.S. death metal maestros from Autopsy will return with a double-bill of unbridled horror this year on Peaceville Records.

Commencing with “After the Cutting” on November 13, this is a special limited release containing an expansive book penned by Dennis Dread recounting the career of the gore outfit, featuring unseen photos and exclusive artwork, accompanied by four discs brimmed full of classics, new tracks and previously unheard rarities from deep within the band’s own archive.

This will be followed by the aptly-titled “Skull Grinder,” containing seven new tracks (also featured on “After the Cutting”) and releasing on vinyl to coincide with this year’s Black Friday on November 27 (CD to follow in 2016).

Autopsy commented: “We at Autopsy HQ are pleased to have the opportunity to once again torture your minds and ear holes through the medium of recorded brutality. The band went back to Fantasy Studios in Berkeley in late July to record a brand new release called ‘Skull Grinder.’ Musically, it’s just what you’d expect from us; no style changes, wimp outs, sell outs, settling down or caving in. Add to that acknowledgement of the obvious, some of Wes Benscoter’s sickest art yet to (dis)grace the cover, and you have a new sledgehammer to the bowels with no apologies offered whatsoever.

“In case that isn’t enough to bring the taste of bile into the back of your throat, let it be known that there is also a four-disc set on the way titled ‘After the Cutting,’ packed with hours of horrifying music, cover art from none other than Kev Walker as well as an extensive book written by Dennis Dread, riddled with interviews, photos and other assorted uncleanliness. The release date for both of these monstrosities is slated for this coming November. More details are forthcoming…”

The “After the Cutting” four-disc set with book can be pre-ordered at this location. Stay tuned for more Autopsy news.
