Whitechapel launches new single, “Third Depth”

– January 15th, 2019 –

Artwork by Branca Studio

On March 29th, Whitechapel will release their 7th full-length, The Valley, via Metal Blade Records. Mixed by David Castillo, mastered by Ted Jensen, and produced once again by Mark Lewis (Cannibal Corpse, The Black Dahlia Murder), The Valley is a reference to the part of Hardin Valley (west of Knoxville, Tennessee) where vocalist Phil Bozeman grew up. Set against this backdrop, he approaches his subject matter unflinchingly, building upon everything that came before, making it clear that he has survived that which he was forced to endure and is not afraid to confront it. “Phil has been upfront in his lyrics in the past about hardships he endured in his life as a child, and I believe with this record we tried to paint a better picture of that,” says guitarist Alex Wade, who alongside his bandmates, stands 100% behind everything their vocalist has to say. “I feel our music is Phil’s release from his past, being able to get it out and speak about it, and hopefully anyone who hears it that may have gone through similar experiences can find some release in it as well.”

It’s mean, but then transfers to soft and inviting. It’s a whirlwind of emotions throughout.”

Set And Setting Releases “Saudade” Music Video

With new Set And Setting album “Reflectionless” officially out as of January 27th, today the band releases a new video for “Saudade.”

The video marries tour footage, shot on the road in 2015, with the band’s majestic, instrumental rock. “Saudade” chugs and soars; with two drummers propelling the beat, it drives forward with purpose. Check it out below.

“Reflectionless” was recorded by Ryan Haft (Torche, Wrong) at Black Bear Studios in Gainesville, Florida, and mastered by Ed Brooks (R.E.M., Death Cab for Cutie) at Resonant Mastering. You can hear the full album right here.

Set And Setting Reveals New Album “Reflectionless”

Florida outfit Set And Setting will drop third album “Reflectionless” on January 27th, 2017 on vinyl, CD, and digital formats. Today you can hear opening track “Saudade” below.

Guitarist Shane Handal gives this insight into the release: “Every album we have done has had a concept to it. With ‘Reflectionless’ I wanted to be a little more vague. This album is based on the idea that external reality is just a projection of your inner self. The particular ‘character’ here has no idea who they are, therefore having no reflection.”

Voice Of Ruin Parts With Guitar Player

After releasing the “Consumed” EP (still streaming here), Voice Of Ruin has issued the following announcement about parting ways with the band’s guitar player:

“After a bit more than 6 years (since the beginning of the band), our dear guitarist Nils has decided to stop the adventure. When he announced that he’d taken this decision it first came as shock to us, especially to Olivier and I, as we’ve been playing together for more than 10 years. Nils would like to explore other kinds of music and go back to playing bass as he once did.

“We respect his decision as band members and above all as FRIENDS! We wish him all the best with his musical ventures, and be assured that we will stay in contact and maintain this friendship that we’ve nurtured for so many years! Be sure to catch us for our last show with him:

08.05.2015 – Festival de Chair et d’Acier, Mâcon (FR)
23.05.2015 – Usine a Gaz, Nyon (CH)
10.06.2015 – Chat Noir, Genève (CH)

“But the good news is that we’ve already found a great guy as his replacement: his name is Nicolas and we’ve known him for many years. Nicolas is an excellent musician and has already a lot of experience in the music scene. He has played with bands like Requiem For Sirens, The Fetch, Sybreed (as a fill-in for a 2010 European tour) and he manages a music agency called Black Bear Agency. Our first show with him will take place on the 27th of Junes 2015 at the Usine of Geneva as support of Dagoba and Benighted. It’s going to be massive!”
