Periphery Reveals New Album “Periphery IV: Hail Stan” Details; Posts New Music Video “Blood Eagle” Online

Periphery will release their fifth album, “Periphery IV: Hail Stan,” on April 5th via their own 3DOT Recordings. A music video for the album’s first single, “Blood Eagle,” directed by Jeremy Danger & Travis Shinn, can be found below.

Guitar player Mark Holcomb said of the six-minute track: “We’ve known since the late stages of P4 writing sessions that ‘Blood Eagle’ would be the first song we released. It’s an unrelenting song that, even while we were writing it, we could say to ourselves: ‘We NEED to play this live.’ The original demo was vastly different, and through the songwriting process, it took on this kind of violent, explosive nature that is always hard to synthesize. That energy excited us and we knew it’d be the first thing we’d let you all hear.”

“Periphery IV: Hail Stan” marks two significant firsts for the band: the first Periphery release on their recently formed label, 3DOT Recordings, as well as a change in the way they approached writing and recording. “We finally spent a year on a record,” explains guitar player/programmer Jake Bowen. “We’ve never been able to do that. The quality and pacing of the work show we took our time with this one. That’s an important note about this. We really got to do everything we wanted to do in the space we had to do it.” Mark adds, “I think you can hear the adventurous intent behind much of this material as a result. We’re all the happiest we’ve ever been with a release, and it’s no coincidence. Can’t wait for you all to hear it.”

“Periphery IV: Hail Stan” is the first release to follow the band’s 2017 Grammy Award nomination in the “Best Metal Performance” category, for “Periphery III: Select Difficulty” album opener “The Price Is Wrong”. The 2016 album tallied 35 million cumulative streams and marked their third consecutive debut in the Top 25 of the Billboard Top 200. It represented the apex of a tireless decade-long grind. In between the touring, endorsements and appearances, they also launched a summer camp of their own, Periphery Summer Jam.

“Periphery IV: Hail Stan” tracklisting:

1. Reptile
2. Blood Eagle
3. CHVRCH BVRNER
4. Garden In The Bones

Having grown with each subsequent release, Posthuman is a devastating addition to Harm’s Way‘s catalog. “We’ve always stayed true to who we are and allowed the songwriting process to take shape organically from record to record, and as the band has progressed, our sound has become more refined with metal and industrial influences,” states drummer Chris Mills, while guitarist Bo Lueders succinctly sums up what people can expect when they first spin the record: “To a Harm’s Way fan, I would describe ‘Posthuman‘ as a blend of ‘Isolation‘(2011) and ‘Rust‘ (2015), but it’s sonically way more insane. To anyone else, I would simply say it’s full on heavy and full on aggression.”

Meytal Working On Second Studio Album – Launch Kickstarter Campaign

L.A. based metal act Meytal, featuring YouTube celebrity Meytal Cohen on drums, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the group’s second studio album, tentatively due out coming summer. The band’s debut album, “Alchemy”, which was also funded on Kickstarter and released in summer 2015, was written by Cohen and Sahaj Ticotin, and peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.

Meytal Cohen has created over 120 YouTube clips since 2011, amassed 200 milion views and won over an audience of 1.2 million subscribers, producing drumming videos.

States Cohen:

“Transitioning from playing my favorite songs to writing my own songs has been the most humbling experience of my life. It has made me appreciate the hell out of bands that have inspired me to become a drummer. It has been an amazing learning experience. At the end of it, I can truly say I didn’t take any shortcuts, I gave it my best, and that it came out pretty badass.”
