Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals Premiere New ‘One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest’ Inspired Music Video

Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals‘ official new music video for their song “Choosing Mental Illness” has made its online premiere streaming below. Anselmo‘s wife Katherine Richardson-Anselmo directed the ‘One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest‘ inspired video, starring Michael St. Michaels (‘The Greasy Strangler‘).

Comments Phillip Anselmo of the video:

“This video is based on one of my favorite films about the harshness of mental illness. Being up close and personal with the struggle, I often feel like R. P. McMurphy, who I play in the clip.

I’ve had a lot of questions about the LP title, ‘Choosing Mental Illness As A Virtue‘ and song title, ‘Choosing Mental Illness,’ but make no mistake, I take mental illness very seriously, especially because it often goes untreated. We’ve taken some extra steps at the end of the video with information that you, or someone close to you might need.

On a lighter note, it’s always a blast to do creative things like the video with my band, crew, and family. Bringing Michael St. Michaels into the fold was like having your favorite wacky uncle over for the holidays! He did a great job as our version of Nurse Ratched and he’s an absolutely lovable and talented guy…go see The Greasy Strangler!”

Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals will be on the road in September on this U.S. tour with King Parrot:

09/06 New Orleans, LA – Santos

Tombs announces North American tour dates with Barishi

– July 12th, 2018 –

Plus a special show with Godflesh!

After releasing their fourth full-length, The Grand Annihilation, last year, Tombs has been touring the world in support of it, joining the likes of Crowbar, Goatwhore, Kreator, and more on various runs across the USA, plus appearing at last month’s Hellfest in France and 2017′s edition of Ozzfest. Now, the band is heading back on the road – this time, with Barishi, plus a special show with Godflesh. See below for all upcoming dates!

Tombs tour dates
w/ Barishi

Aug. 24 – Montague, MA – RPM Fest
Aug. 25 – New York, NY – Gramercy Theatre *
Aug. 26 – Rochester, NY – Bugjar
Aug. 27 – Cleveland, OH – Now That’s Class
Aug. 28 – Chicago, IL – Reggies
Aug. 30 – Toronto, ON – Velvet Underground
Aug. 31 – Ottawa, ON – Café Dekcuf
Sept. 1 – Montreal, QC – Turbo Haus
Sept. 2 – Quebec City, QC – L’Anti
Sept. 3 – Burlington, VT – Nectars
Sept. 28 – Pontiac, MI – The Crofoot (Berserker Fest) **
*= w/ Godflesh, no Barishi
**= no Barishi

While every track on The Grand Annihilation stands separate from those around it, it is still a cohesive collection, and at no point do the stylistic twists and turns undermine its coherence. The blasting, scathing yet melodic black metal savagery of opener “Black Sun Horizon” and “Way Of The Storm” are very much built to destroy, while wielding a poignancy that is undeniable – both of which stand in strong contrast to the uncomfortable post-punk squall of “Underneath” that showcases front-man Mike Hill’s Nick Cave/Ian Curtis-esque singing voice, while the likes of the throbbing “Saturnalian” and unnerving tribal thunder of “Walk With Me In Nightmares” stand in categories all of their own.

Child Bite Gears Up For New U.S. Touring

Detroit noise rock unit Child Bite is readying for part two of a U.S. live assault supporting labelmates Superjoint.

The tour will make its way west from San Antonio, Texas on April 21st and run through May 14th in Dallas, Texas. Additional support will be provided by fellow Motor City thrashers Battlecross.

Prior to the journey, Child Bite will play the annual Berserker Fest this Saturday in Pontiac, Michigan. An event organized by Chile Bite frontman Shawn Knight, the performance will find the eclectic collective sharing the stage with the likes of Gwar, Weedeater, The Obsessed, Brain Tentacles and many more. Just four days later the band will then perform a one off show in Evansville, Illinois before joining up with Uncle Phil and co for another round of roadbound shenanigans.

Comments Knight: “We haven’t done a full west coast tour since last summer with Voivod, so of course we are excited to head that way next week with Superjoint and Battlecross. Lucky for Texas, Anselmo and co always have a collective boner for that state so we will be hitting them again on this trip. Where else… Colorado for three days! Many edibles will be consumed, so expect those shows to be extra psychedelic. The whole thing will be a real humdinger and a gosh darn hoot and a half, I promise you.”

EyeHateGod Returning To The Stage After Mike IX Williams’ Liver Transplant

EyeHateGod frontman Mike IX Williams will make his triumphant return to the stage next month following a successful liver transplant this past December.

Williams, who hasn’t performed live in a year, will make his stage debut on April 14th at this year’s Berserker Fest in Pontiac, Michigan. From there, the band will hit Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Brooklyn, New York with future live encounters to be announced in the months to come.

4/14/2017 Berserker IV @ The Crofoot – Pontiac, MI
4/15/2017 First Unitarian Church – Philadelphia, PA
4/16/2017 Brooklyn Bazarre – Brooklyn, NY

Comments Williams in a recently statement posted to his YouCaring site: “Finally! This an update that’s totally loooong overdue, people. I apologize for the tardiness but I just started an entirely new beginning of an existence previously destined to be cut short by the ravages of a hard life lived.

“I’m back, mother fuckers! And I feel pretty amazing, although I have a very long way to go as far as being one thousand percent fully healed, but my doctors are completely stoked at my progress so far. This miracle of the modern medical process has literally bought me a second chance at living! Now on to the real stars of the show: YOU! My family, friends and fans: You truly stole my heart and made me aware that love really does exist in this current climate of hatred because of someone’s skin color, beliefs, or personal identity, you people came to the rescue like nobody’s business and we love you!

“To be honest, we still need you! Of major, ultra-special note is the New Orleans #IXLivesIXLives benefit gigs. I was unable to attend any of the shows because of doctors’ orders, but word is that the entire weekend was the ultimate example of mass friendship, hope and care for one another in a time of need. Many many thanks to everybody involved, me and my beautiful rock star of a wife Michelle, thank you from the bottoms of our filthy hearts! We were and still are, over-freaking-whelmed at the outpouring of support from all the wonderful humans out in this world, you maniacs have completely outdone yourselves…”

GWAR B-Q Postponed Until 2018

– February 8th, 2017 –

New Album In Progress – Heavy Touring in 2017 – First Dates Announced

Attention Human Scum!! Your Lords and Masters GWAR have been quiet lately, but do not fret, things are about to pick the fuck up! We have good news and bad news…what do you want first? Bad news? We thought so…

It is with both great sorrow, and a twinge of self-satisfied glee (because we love to make you suffer), that we announce the following: The GWAR B-Q has been postponed this year. Yes we know that sucks, but we will make it up with the biggest and baddest GWAR B-Q yet when it returns in 2018.

Why is the GWAR B-Q postponed? Well, this is the good news! The band is working on a new album and a whole new show that will blow your minds faster and harder than a meth addicted hooker blows a paycheck. Also, GWAR are about to take on the craziest year of touring in the band’s recent history, and will be destroying North America literally all year! We are still lining up dates for the year long killing spree, but don’t worry Bohabs, GWAR will be coming to visit all of your little shithole towns, and together, we will Make America Bleed Again! And as a little treat for all you Bohabs, GWAR can confirm their first tour dates set for April. The Scumdogs will hit Reading, PA, Columbus, OH and will headline the Berserker Metal Fest in Detroit, MI. Tickets for all of these shows go on sale this Friday February 10th.

Details about the new album remain sketchy, partly because the band wants to proceed with great secrecy, and partly because they have been very busy playing Pokémon GO. Suffice to say that they are working an album that will change the world as we know it, altering the consciousness of all living things. More details about the recording will be made available “when we fucking want to tell you“, says guitarist Pustulus Maximus. We wait with (mastur) bated breath!!

GWAR Live:
4/13: Reading, PA @ Reverb
4/14: Columbus, OH @ Newport Music Hall
4/15: Detroit, MI @ Berserker Fest VI @ Crofoot Ballroom

After a short holiday slumber, Detroit’s favorite road hounds from Child Bite will take to the streets again for another round of onstage pandemonium.
