Epic melodic death metallers Nothgard announce new album, ‘Malady X’

– August 9th, 2018 –

Launch title track as first single

Epic melodic death metallers Nothgard from Germany have finished the recordings for their new album Malady X and are proud to present the first song to the masses! Head over to metalblade.com/nothgard to check out the stunning video for the title track “Malady X” – where the record is also available for pre-order in the following formats:

–ltd. 1st ed. Digipak-CD
–box set (EU exclusive – limited to 300 copies)
–180g black vinyl
–dead gold marbled vinyl (EU exclusive – limited to 200 copies)
–light grey marbled vinyl (EU exclusive – limited to 200 copies)
–red/black marbled vinyl (EMP exclusive – limited to 120 copies)
–clear/black marbled vinyl (US exclusive – limited to 100 copies)

Bandleader Dom R. Crey states: “With ‘Malady X‘, we have created an album that is both dark and serious, but on the other hand rife with catchy melodies – while not compromising our individual sound at all, on the contrary: I am sure we have defined the Nothgard-style more clearly than ever on this album. This is why we are really happy to present our first new material to you in the shape of a music video!”

The clip for “Malady X” was recorded in one take, meaning without interruptions and based on a specific choreography to make an authentic impression. The result is nothing less than breathtaking!

Dom R. Crey adds: “Of course, ‘Malady X‘ takes on an important role because it’s the title track. It represents everything that we, deep inside, find disturbing about society and current ways of thinking. We consciously address it in the lyrics – no-go’s and issues in daily life which should actually be perceived as such, but instead, we have lost awareness of them. Rather than standing in for our convictions, we choose to live according to false values.”

Nothgard has recorded Malady X at Def-Creation and & Southern Deathcult studios and called the renowned Jens Bogren (Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, Kreator, Opeth, etc.) for mastering duties. The result is an album full of epic melodic death metal anthems!

Steve Grimmett‘s Grim Reaper Announces North American Tour Dates

Steve Grimmett‘s Grim Reaper will tour North America starting in New Hampshire on September 27, 2018 and wrap up with a two night stint at The Whisky A Go Go in Los Angeles.

Dissonance Productions released the long awaited album from Steve Grimmett‘s GRIM REAPER entitled ’Walking In The Shadows‘ almost two years ago. It was the band‘s first new recording since 1987‘s Rock You To Hell.

Grim Reaper‘s story begins in 1979 after successfully fighting off hundreds of bands in a local Battle Of The Bands competition. This win, combined with an already sizeable following, aroused the interest of Ebony Records. Signing with the small UK label, Grim Reaper released three albums in rapid succession to international acclaim. Due to legal turmoil with Ebony, Grim Reaper would disband in 1988. Grimmett would go on to record with Onslaught, Lionsheart, and more recently The Sanity Days debut Evil Beyond Belief. His renowned vocal range remains one of metal‘s most identifiable with loyal fans turning out in numbers to hear him perform.

Since reforming in 2006, Steve Grimmett‘s Grim Reaper has made several European festival appearances including Germany‘s Keep It True, England‘s British Steel, Belgium‘s Heavy Sound, and Sweden‘s Muskelrock as well as touring North and South America.

As widely reported Steve had to have part of his leg amputated in Ecuador while on the bands South American tour in January 2017 after an operation to stem an aggressive infection failed. Since then Steve has got himself back up and out on the road worldwide.

Members of Metallica, Slipknot, Lamb of God, Avenged Sevenfold and More Pay Tribute To Late Pantera / HELLYEAH Drummer Vinnie Paul

The family of Vinnie Paul have confirmed that he passed away in his sleep at his home in Las Vegas, NV. A medical examiner will set out to determine his cause of death after which, his body will be transferred back to Texas to be buried alongside his mother and his brother, the late Pantera guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott.

Members of Metallica, Slipknot, Lamb of God, Avenged Sevenfold etc. pay tribute to Late Pantera and HELLYEAH Drummer Vinnie Paul. Below’s what they have to say:

Thank you for all the good times, Vinnie…your incredible hospitality and warm vibe was infectious and inspiring. Here’s to another shot of Crown Royal and a next level game of air hockey down the road! RIP, brother. Much love. ?? pic.twitter.com/ehNXoO88jY

Very sad news this evening. This man always treated me & the guys in my band like family, from the very first time we ever met him with his brother at a Damageplan gig in Texas– whether backstage at a show, on his crazy tour bus, at his club, at his house, he was always a gracious host to us. He just wanted people around him to be happy. I didn’t see Vinnie much the last time we played a gig together because I heard he was in a very foul mood– this was highly unusual for him. Why was he in a foul mood? Because we were playing a big festival in Chicago, he had bought a TON OF FOOD to grill in the parking lot for everyone (as usual), & the fire marshall came and shut him down before he could start the bar-b-que. That’s the type of dude he was– he just wanted to make sure people were having a good time, & he took steps to make that happen. He also did me a very solid favor when I was in some very serious legal trouble a while back by writing a detailed letter to a judge explaining what had happened to his brother & the need for good stage security– that wasn’t an easy thing for him to do, but he did it anyway because he was a true friend and knew I needed some help– I’ll never forget that, & I made sure he knew I appreciated it. He also never minded when I got in his face with my camera– I took this photo with a 50mm fixed lens at a festival we were playing with Hellyeah in Iowa in 2016– that means I was basically inside his drum kit. When he saw me poking my head in there, he just turned, flashed me this grin, & kept on rocking. I love this photo– Big Vin smiling and doing what he did best. Rest In Peace, Vinnie Paul. You’ll be missed. BIG LOVE.

Multinational outfit The Ocean is starting their European tour tonight where they will perform their legendary Precambrian album (the Proterozoic part) in its entirety! It’s the 10th anniversary of the album, and mainman Robin Staps released a 3-LP re-issue of it through his own label, Pelagic, recently. The re-issue features a new track, which is a re-recording of the Precambrian opener “Rhyacian”, with the band’s current lineup.

The digital single of “Rhyacian” will be available next Friday through all digital outets via Metal Blade Records!
