Raven Drummer Joe Hasselvander To Miss Shows Due To Health Issue

NWOBHM group Raven has hit a slight snag in live activity, releasing the following tour update to fans:

“So… life can (and does) throw the occasional ‘mother’ of a curve ball…. Due to a sudden serious health issue, our drummer Joe ‘the Baron’ Hasselvander will unfortunately be unable to play with us on our current and upcoming dates.

“As you can imagine, the health and well being of our good mate & partner in mayhem is paramount in importance. However in order to meet our obligations to our fans, we will still be playing all upcoming shows with the assistance of some amazing fill-in drummers who have stepped up to the plate to help the show go on.

“Thursday in Chicago, Jimmy Mess from Tattooed Millionaires will do the honors, and the shows this weekend on the East Coast we are extremely honored to have Fear Factory drummer, and all around Metal legend Mike Heller behind the kit. And for the European tour, Kill Ritual drummer Dave Chedrick will do the honors.

“Please join with us in wishing Joe best wishes and a speedy recovery. We’ll see you this weekend.”

Necroptic Engorgement Releasing “Realms Of Incessant Bloodshed”

Necroptic Engorgement’s “Realms of Incessant Bloodshed” is coming via Manifest Records on June 24th, 2016.

Hailing from New York’s Hudson Valley, Necroptic Engorgement is a three piece brutal death metal outfit, drawing influence from various acts including Dying Fetus, Suffocation and a band favorite, Cannibal Corpse.

Originally started as a studio project in 2010, Necroptic Engorgement quickly recruited a full lineup, including Will Escolano, Reggie Torres, David Gapay and Shane Lake. Due to personal issues, Shane departed from the band after a 1st live performance, followed by Reggie’s resignation shortly after the release of the band’s debut EP “Transmogrified.”

Since 2012 Necroptic Engorgement has remained a 3 piece act. In 2013, the band parted ways with riginal drummer, David Gapay. Shortly thereafter, Ryan Hilerio was recruited to fill the position behind the kit. With this new and redefined lineup, the rest simply fell into place.

2. Tapestry of Decay
3. Endless Malevolence
4. Sandpaper Masterbation
5. Nagleria Fowleri
6. Bound Gaged and Gutted

Rivers Of Nihil Recruits New Drummer Dylan Potts

Progressive death metal outfit Rivers of Nihil has amicably parted ways with drummer Alan Balamut. Regarding the split, Alan comments:

“Hey everyone. I’m sure many of you already know and some may not but I have decided to part ways with Rivers of Nihil a few months ago in good terms. The reason is simply that I need to financially situate myself (NYC isn’t easy) and my urge to finish school in Music Production. I found Dylan Potts just before my departure and I believe he fits in and performs with the band in phenomenal ways.

“The whole ride was an amazing and unforgettable experience and I have nothing but respect for each member, former member, our manager, all the people I’ve met and Metal Blade Records. In the meantime I’ll be doing session work and other music productions, and I’ll be more open for touring after I finish school in 2016– and if Rivers ever need any assistance, I’ll be right there for them. I wish the band all the success for next year and beyond!”

With Alan’s departure, Rivers of Nihil welcome Dylan Potts to join the ranks. To showcase his talent behind the kit, the band has filmed a new drum play-through for the track “Perpetual Growth Machine,” taken from latest album “Monarchy.”

Night Viper Streaming Full Self-Titled Album

Night Viper is now streaming the entirety of the band’s self-titled debut album, released internationally last week by Svart Records. Listen in below.

Hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden, the first two ingredients in the Viper pie were Sofie Lee Johansson and Tom Sutton (Horisont, The Order Of Israfel, ex-Church Of Misery). As soon as they met, the chemistry started flying and some pure fist-banging heavy metal demos were thrown down.

They were joined briefly by Sven Nilsson from Antichrist on drums as well as a few others on guitar and bass, but it was once swing master Jonna Karlsson was behind the kit that things started really moving. The folk-tastic stylings of Emil Ridderstolpe on guitar and the fast fingers of Ruben Åhlander Persson (Miasmal) on bass completed the lineup.

1. Night Viper
2. The Hammer
3. Curse of a Thousand Deaths
4. Run For Cover
5. Warrior Woman
6. Faces in the Mirror
7. Never Be Enslaved
8. Dagger In Hand
9. The Wolverine

Urizen Parts With Drummer Julio Escamilla

Texas band Urizen just issued the following statement online about parting ways with the group’s drummer:

“Friends, it is with sadness that we announce that we are parting ways with our long-time brother, drummer, and co-founding Urizen member Julio Escamilla. We have reached a point where our lives are leading us in different directions, and it is no longer possible for Julio to continue on with the band.

“We are parting on good terms, and there are no words to express the value that Julio has brought to this project with his skills as a drummer, his friendship, and his commitment to furthering the UriCause throughout the years. Be on the lookout for his insanely fast feet to show up in new and exciting musical projects very soon!

“We would also like to announce that we will be joined on all upcoming endeavors by our good buddy Nolan McCormick, who filled in behind the kit for Julio during our 25-date tour with Psychostick and Downtown Brown this past spring. Nolan brings his own set of killer skills to the table, and we’re looking forward to continuing to rock with him as we barrel down this crazy robo-filled path we’re on!

“We’ve got lots of fun stuff to share with you all soon, but for now, please join us in thanking Julio for everything he’s done for this band since we first jammed on Dimmu Borgir covers with him all those years ago! Never stop a-rockin’, dudes and dudettes!”

Gene Hoglan Replaces Sean Reinert on Drums For Remaining Death To All Dates

Drummer Sean Reinert has been forced to leave Death To All’s “Swamp Leper Stomp ’14” North American tour due to health reasons. He is being replaced for the remainder of the trek by fellow Death alumnus Gene Hoglan.

The current lineup of Death To All – which features former members of Death celebrating the life and music of Chuck Schuldiner – is rounded out by Steve DiGiorgio on bass and Bobby Koelble on guitar. Max Phelps, who has been touring with Death To All, is once again handling the vocal and 2nd-guitar duties.

States Sean Reinert: “Yes, it is with great regret that I left the DTA tour after the San Francisco show Sunday night. Although I have spent weeks rehearsing for this tour and was very excited to put on great performances, it was not meant to be. For the past 6 months I have been suffering from lower back spasms, extreme muscle fatigue and limited grip strength. It’s no big secret that after over the last 2 years and 2 major surgeries (full achilles repair on my right ankle and a year later knee surgery on my left knee for a torn MCL) that I’ve gained a lot of weight due to recovery and pain. All of this culminated in the perfect storm.

“I realized that the situation was not getting better the more I played. Shortening the set was not something that I felt was fair to the fans and after 3 shows I realized the best thing for the tour was to get Gene in the fold and for me to get some definitive answers. Fortunately, Gene is available to take over for me starting tonight in Seattle. He is, of course, a fucking beast behind the kit and there’s no one better to fill in for me. I have already consulted with my physician and will have a series of tests over the next few weeks to check for for everything from carpal/cubital tunnel syndrome to other possible nerve/spinal/back issues. I am sorry to the many fans who were looking forward to seeing me play this tour and I hope to make it up to you in the future.”
