EMP Label Group Inks Deal With Chronus

Hailing from Helsingborg, Sweden, Chronus is an exalted quartet formed in 2015 and led by the Baron. Young, fresh and visionary, the band carries the metal torch with astonishing maturity. Delivering a majestic performance filled with striking melodies and hard-hitting riffs, Chronus has been compared to the likes of Mastodon and Gojira. Vocalist/guitarist the Baron, dressed in white, embodies a voice reminiscent of Ozzy Osbourne, complementing the work of his three black-clad associates.

October 28th marks the official European release of Chronus’ self-titled debut album on Ellefson Music Productions, aka EMP Label Group, the label of legendary Megadeth bassist David Ellefson (the North American release is tentatively planned for 2018). After a well-received performance at this year’s Sabaton Open Air, the band are currently preparing for a Scandinavian tour supporting Soilwork and The Unguided.

In order to spread rapture upon the people, Chronus ceremoniously converts its audience in a relentless conquest to take on the World. Join their voyage to the City of Light!

Amebix’s “Monolith” Being Re-Released In North America

“Monolith” by Amebix is one of those records that many have heard “of” but have never actually “heard.” Now thirty years old, it’s a record that still remains largely unmasked. Dissonance Productions looks to change that with the North American re-introduction to one of crust punk’s most prolific albums on June 30th.

Scene Point Blank calls it “essential” and The Obelisk refers to it as “legendary and massively influential.” Originally released in 1987, the second album from Amebix is an urgent and ugly album that drew both immediate praise and scorn.

It ultimately would be the last recording by the band for more than 20 years; founder Rob Baron Miller with brother Chris Stig Miller, and Spider splitting up shortly after the album’s release.

Barishi Streams Full New Album “Blood From The Lion’s Mouth”

Vermont’s gritty progressive metal quartet Barishi is now streaming ambitious new full-length album “Blood from the Lion’s Mouth,” which can be heard below.

Regarding the album, the band comments: “We’re really proud of this album. It was an absolute blast to both write and record. We spent last summer at home in Jamaica, Vermont writing constantly. Our goal was to come up with something that was cohesive as a whole but also had an individuality to each track. Our producer Brian Westbrook really went above and beyond with it’s production. He has such clear vision in regards to a song’s structure as well as it’s sonic potential. It was killer to work with him again.”

Barishi’s second full-length album, and first for Season of Mist, will be released worldwide on Sept. 16. The album was recorded by Brian Westbrook at PDP Recording in Greenfield, MA during winter 2015-2016, and features cover art by Brian Mercer.

Pseudo/Sentai Posts “Enter The Sentai” Title Track

Manga-themed heavy metal band Pseudo/Psentai has released new track “Enter the Sentai” online. The track is taken from a forthcoming album of the same name, which will be released on July 8th 2016.

According to a press release, the band’s sound has been described as a mixture of prog, metal and alternative, “almost like a cross between Ghost and Faith No More but with a Power Rangers theme.”

The band commented: “In ‘Enter the Sentai,’ the Sentai battle a hoard of possessed riot police that have been acquired by a Sisyphean eclipse. As the Baron twists their minds, any minuscule desire to protect and serve has been converted to an attempt to oppress even those closest to them while aiding the Baron’s developing system of control.”
