Comments vocalist Kam Lee:

“I am very excited for this album. First off it was during the making of The Grotesquery‘s 4th full length album, when Rogga Johansson told me about Jonny, and that he was looking for a vocalist to put lyrics and vocals to some music that he had. Rogga already knew by working with me previously on the three albums for The Grotesquery my ability to be able to put concept albums together with a storyline. And that this was something that possibly Johnny was looking to do with the music he had. Also I knew Jonny’s work from other bands like Wombbath, Ashcloud, Just Before Dawn & Henry Kane, so when I found out that I had a chance and opportunity to work with this great musician I jumped on it. Once I heard the music I knew exactly the tone that this album needed to take and it was perfect with the theme I was working on. As well it was like synchronicity… as if the universe wanted something to happen because I just so happen to be working on my own gothic horror fairy tale at the time and was leaning towards doing something with Scandinavian mythology. Johnny and I got to talking and he told me about this legend that his grandmother used to tell him as a child about the Night Raven. As soon as he told me the name of this mythical creature everything just fell into place. And that’s how everything came to be. The name of the band, the entire concept story, the mythology, everything all based on the Nattravnen.”

Nattravnen‘s music composer Jonny Pettersson adds, “This album have been in the making for a long time. I started working on these songs many years ago, but never felt that I could give them the vocal justice they needed. Rogga Johansson (Paganizer, Down Among the Dead Men and many more) introduced me to Kam who accepted the task of vocal mastery. It’s been an honour to complete the album with Kam, and with once again mighty Transcending Obscurity backing us up, and with label boss Kunal’s pure dedication, I’m positive this is one for the books.”

Line up:

Kam Lee – Vocals and lyrics (ex-Death, ex-Massacre, The Grotesquery)
Jonny Pettersson – All instruments (Heads For The Dead, Wombbath, Henry Kane)

Krokus Announces “Adios Amigos” Farewell Tour

Swiss heavy metal legends Krokus has announced that they will be embarking on a headlining world tour, dubbed “Adios Amigos.” The band has stressed that they will not be reuniting once the tour is done and have posted the following statement:

“Since 1975, Krokus stands for honest, handmade, quality power rock. No other Swiss Rock Band sells their albums and their back catalogue worldwide like Krokus. More than 15 million records sold, worldwide tours, gold and platinum in the US and Canada. Our Rock milestones can still be found today all across the globe from Australia to the USA, Mexico, Russia, even Japan and China. Krokus video clips are viewed millions of times on YouTube.

“In 1980, the triumphal march began throughout America, Canada and England. The band cemented their reputation and name as a strong, no-frills live band. Unforgettable headlining tours and on the same bills with great bands like AC / DC, Van Halen, Rush, Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, Motörhead, just to name a few. Wild times, big adventures, which brought the band, among other things, the honorary citizenship of Memphis Tennessee. Krokus were also the first Swiss band to sell-out the Hallenstadion, Zurich in 1982.

“But there was also death, illness and internal disputes that drove the band to the brink of destruction. Then, in 2008 the big comeback. The story of Krokus is unique. Marked by ups and downs. From grandiose stadium concerts to sweaty club gigs. We overcame trends, insidious US managers, harsh splits, bad deals, shady lawyers, drugs, lousy fast food, endless bus trips, disco, grunge, grotesque record companies, and hypocritical advisors.

“During our remarkable career, Krokus rocked more than 2000 shows on five continents – different cities, unique locations, crazy gigs and loyal fans. This long journey ends with our Adios Amigo Tour.

“Krokus shows have always been special and should stay that way. That’s why we decided to stop when it’s still really good. That’s how the fans should remember us. Unlike other bands that are on their eternal ‘farewell tour’, we will keep our word and pull the plug at the end of 2019, handing over the Rock Magic Wand to the youngsters.”

In addition, the band members have issued personal statements.

Marc Storace: “We look forward to a grandiose 2019 Adios Amigos World Tour with the final highlight in Switzerland.”

Fernando von Arb: “We have signed reciprocally contracts with each other that it really is over. We will stick to that. Every party has to end eventually.”

Chris von Rohr: “It was an unparalleled journey with all the ups and downs rock life has to offer. Now we are looking forward to the final lap of honor and will give it our all once more. We owe that to ourselves and our fans. The 7th of December, 2019 will be unforgettable as it was on the 27th of March 1982. “

Steve Grimmett‘s Grim Reaper Announces North American Tour Dates

Steve Grimmett‘s Grim Reaper will tour North America starting in New Hampshire on September 27, 2018 and wrap up with a two night stint at The Whisky A Go Go in Los Angeles.

Dissonance Productions released the long awaited album from Steve Grimmett‘s GRIM REAPER entitled ’Walking In The Shadows‘ almost two years ago. It was the band‘s first new recording since 1987‘s Rock You To Hell.

Grim Reaper‘s story begins in 1979 after successfully fighting off hundreds of bands in a local Battle Of The Bands competition. This win, combined with an already sizeable following, aroused the interest of Ebony Records. Signing with the small UK label, Grim Reaper released three albums in rapid succession to international acclaim. Due to legal turmoil with Ebony, Grim Reaper would disband in 1988. Grimmett would go on to record with Onslaught, Lionsheart, and more recently The Sanity Days debut Evil Beyond Belief. His renowned vocal range remains one of metal‘s most identifiable with loyal fans turning out in numbers to hear him perform.

Since reforming in 2006, Steve Grimmett‘s Grim Reaper has made several European festival appearances including Germany‘s Keep It True, England‘s British Steel, Belgium‘s Heavy Sound, and Sweden‘s Muskelrock as well as touring North and South America.

As widely reported Steve had to have part of his leg amputated in Ecuador while on the bands South American tour in January 2017 after an operation to stem an aggressive infection failed. Since then Steve has got himself back up and out on the road worldwide.

Within The Ruins Premiere Two New Tracks “World Undone” & “Resurgence”

Within The Ruins debut two new tracks which mark their first official releases with their new singer Steve Tinnon. Those new singles include “World Undone” “Resurgence”. Guitarist Joe Cocchi explains:

“These songs were both written over the course of a big transition period for this band. They have a unique vibe. Nonetheless, we’re more than thrilled to have Steve step up and take over on vocals.

It couldn’t be a better fit for us. We’ve known Steve for years through touring and it feels right to have his voice, personality, and creativity as a part of our bands future now.”

You can stream the two songs below:

Adds Tinnon who replaced Tim Georgen earlier this year:

“I wrote these songs as a pair. I wanted them to go together. ‘World Undone‘ is about feeling like you’ve lost everything and your world has come crumbling down. You’ve been mentally and physically defeated, and no one around you even cares. Everyone goes through dark times where they just feel lost and don’t know what to do. ‘Resurgence‘ is the follow up to that scenario. It’s about making your way out of those difficult situations and coming out on the other side as a stronger person than before. Life can be a constant struggle, and I think that’s very relatable to a lot of people. But I want these songs to serve as a reminder that no matter how bad things seem, you need to keep pushing and keep fighting. Things can get better. Don’t give up.”

Napalm Death, Anaal Nathrakh, Etc. Members Launch Born To Murder The World

Shane Embury (Napalm Death, Brujeria, etc.), Mick Kenney (Anaal Nathrakh/Mistress) and Duncan Wilkins (Fukpig, Mistress) join forces in a new outfit called Born To Murder The World. That band will have their debut album, “The Infinite Mirror Of Millennial Narcissism” out on August 24th via Embury‘s new label Extrinsic Recordings.

A stream of Born To Murder The World’s track “Brutality Alchemist” is streaming below:

The Infinite Mirror Of Millennial Narcissism by Born to Murder the World

States Embury:

“Born To Murder The World is a project that myself and Mick Kenney of Anaal Nathrakh have had recorded for some time now. We have been friends for decades and when two likeminded maniacs get together to record a project, something nasty is bound to happen. I suppose we just needed a good excuse for the record to be unleashed.

To me, it was the perfect opportunity with the start of my label Extrinsic Recordings to just do that. The track ‘Brutality Alchemist’ was the first track we came up with together and is a good mixture of the what the album is all about—it seems the ideal track to introduce the album with.

As anyone who follows me or my bands would know, I love all forms of music and love making projects and collaborations to the point I guess I am a bit obsessive about it all, and for some time now I have wanted to get into recording and composing atmospheric albums/soundtrack-type recordings and, well, whatever weird and wacky ideas that come to mind.

I have a long list of stuff I want to achieve personally and Extrinsic Recordings is a way for me to do that. I’m very excited about it all and hope to make some interesting albums over the next few years… Stay tuned!”
