Bloodshot Dawn UK/Ireland Tour Announced – To Release “Reanimation” January 2018

Earlier this year Bloodshot Dawn had entered the studio to begin work on their third full length album, entitled Renanimation; an album that also features prominent guests including Jeff Loomis (Arch Enemy, Nevermore), Paul Wardingham, Ken Sorceron (Abigail Williams, The Faceless), Mendel Bij De Leij (Aborted).

Since their acclaimed self-titled and second album Demons, there has been shifts in the bands ranks making way for new members, Canadian shredder Morgan Reid, drummer James Stewart (also of Vader and Divine Chaos) and bass player Giacomo Gastaldi. Frontman and last founding member Josh McMorran reflects on the losing all members from the Demons line up as a huge shock to the system, “I had to take sometime to think about how to move forward with the bands sound and honestly thinking wasn’t what was needed. When Morgan joined the band he worked tirelessly on riffs and ideas for songs which I sculptured into my design and feel for how I thought the album should flow. We met up over a two week period and turned hundreds of ideas into ten tracks very naturally. The general feeling is that we now for the first time have a solid direction and process, we work as a unit instead of separate solo efforts within the band.”

“We recorded guitars and drums in the east of Germany and Czech simply because that’s where Morgan and James are based. The studio in Czech, Babylon Studios, had an incredible drum room which was a huge selling point to this studio. We recorded guitars at Morgans home studio, which follows a similar process to our previous records. After that we headed for Sweden to work with Per Nilsson (Scar Symmetry) for final guitar pieces, additional layers, mixing and mastering. Per is a good friend and an extraordinary musician and his ear and eye for the big picture has helped us create Reanimation and pushed us to evolve our sound in a very natural way.”

“As for the stories within the album, a lot of it is ambiguous, regarding personal struggles, as well as observations on modern day society. But as with all Bloodshot Dawn records the lyrics aren’t always as clear cut and it’s the sci-fi artwork that really tells the cover story so to speak. We worked with a good friend Chris Kewli who is a concept artist with an incredibly creative mind. The artwork is the third part of a trilogy of art continuing and finishing the concept that started with the first two Bloodshot Dawn albums. The front cover pictures an alien approaching a war torn earth who’s coming to clean up the planet of human life and refresh the earth back to its former glory! The art unfolds further through the inlays of the CD.”

As well as the news of an imminent new release the band will be on tour throughout UK/Ireland tour, their first in almost 2 years!

Sicarius Debuts New Song “Ferox Impetum” From Upcoming New Album “Serenade of Slitting Throats”

Black metal outfit Sicarius debuts a new song entitled “Ferox Impetum”, taken from the band’s upcoming new album “Serenade of Slitting Throats”, which will be out in stores on through M-Theory Audio on October 13.

Check out now “Ferox Impetum” below.

States the band about the song and video shoot:

“‘Ferox Impetum’ is a quick banger of a battle anthem, very direct and to the point. Director Andrew Knudsen (Empyrean Throne) and I hashed out some ideas and we came up with the overall mood of the video. He interviewed a few camera teams and Zack Yan was the most promising, and everyone involved delivered 100%. It was the easiest video shoot I had ever been apart of. Our vocalist K. Karcass kept falling into the mass of rusted barbed wire, just gashed up by the end of the shoot, it was pretty rad.”

20th Anniversary Edition Of Debut Album “Glory To The Brave” Announced By HammerFall

Sweden’s HammerFall will release the 20th Anniversary Edition of the celebrated debut record “Glory To The Brave” on December 1st. The release is chock full of bonus material.

When HammerFall released the debut album “Glory To The Brave” 20 years ago, the five Swedes launched a true heavy metal revival overnight. While the mainstream still concentrated on grunge and the metal scene was dominated by black metal and gothic acts, this traditional metal record was like a godsend and heralded a new era. “For us, the immense success was a real shock in the beginning,” singer Joacim Cans remembers, because suddenly, HammerFall was considered to be the saviours of true metal. They received countless rave reviews from magazines, Wacken Open Air booked the band for a prime time slot on the main stage, Kai Hansen invited the band personally to join as support on the Gamma Ray tour and the CD entered the German album charts at the amazing position of #38 – an unbelievable achievement during this time. “Our advantage was that no one has expected us and our album. We only did what we wanted and felt compelled to do.”

This passion was not least influenced by German metal acts like Accept, Helloween and Stormwitch, but also by other underdogs like Warlord or Picture. “I’m still very proud of this album, it has turned our lives upside down” the vocalist sums up, and is equally proud of the extensive re-release of the cult album, which will be released on December 1st via Nuclear Blast. The re-release includes the completely re-mastered version of “Glory To The Brave,” a radio edit of the legendary title track as well as the great cover version of the Stormwich classic “Ravenlord.” The bonus CD will include six live versions of “The Metal Age,” “Steel Meets Steel,” “Stone Cold,” “Glory To The Brave,” “Hammerfall” and “The Dragon Lies Bleeding,” as well as a medley from numerous tracks off of their first-class debut album, which was recorded live this year at a show in Berlin.

In addition to this, the double CD will also be enhanced by a bonus DVD containing the first chapters of “The First Crusade” documentary, which was originally published on VHS, as well as four new, historically edited interview chapters plus a live recording of their Dynamo Open Air show at Eindhoven in 1998. It will be available as a Digipak in an attractive box set, including a booklet containing detailed liner notes, many photos from the private archives of the musicians as well as magazine reports, flyers, posters and much more. Besides the 2-CD/DVD, you can also purchase the audio part separately, which includes bonus tracks as a double-vinyl.

There has been no other album that was quite as important for the development of heavy metal in the nineties and now, the milestone will be published in a comprehensive deluxe edition that leaves no wish unfulfilled!

M-Theroy Audio Inks Deal With The Absence, New Album Coming 2018

Florida melodic death metal act The Absence signed on with M-Theory Audio for an upcoming new album in 2018.

The Absence came onto the scene in 2005 with the crushing Metal Blade Records’ debut, “From Your Grave.” The album, and its two successive follow-ups, 2007’s “Riders of the Plague” and 2010’s “Enemy Unbound,” showcased the perfect mixture of heart-wrenching melodies and skull-pounding aggression truly making the band one of the premiere in the melodic death metal scene. The Absence further ensconced its reputation via several tours supporting some of the biggest names in metal. And then the band seemingly disappeared.

Despite some setbacks in personnel and for some band members a desire to explore new terrain recording/performing with additional groups or working in related fields producing or handling live sound/tour managing for others, The Absence was merely put on hold waiting for the right time to return. Last year the regrouped outfit of singer Jamie Stewart, drummer Jeramie Kling and bassist Mike Leon, along with the addition of celebrated guitar duo Joey Concepcion (Jasta, Armageddon) and Taylor Nordberg (Soilwork, Ribspreader), teased fans with the face-melting “Septic Testament.” The reaction was phenomenal and motivated the band members to continue writing and recording the epic return and be absent from the scene no more.

Armed with a brand new full-length the group has signed a deal with new label M-Theory Audio, headed by former Century Media/Nuclear Blast President Marco Barbieri along with a team of friends and seasoned pros with labels like Victory, Prosthetic and Epitaph on their resumes, for an early 2018 release.

“We as a unit could not be happier to sign a deal with such an amazing group of hardworking people,” states drummer Jeramie Kling. “Marco and the crew over at M-Theory are the future of record labels!”

“I am thrilled to sign The Absence to M-Theory Audio and continue this next chapter,” declares Marco. “I’ve followed The Absence as a fan since the beginning and always thought they were one of the better new bands. I love their mix of rapid-fire hostility and ear-pleasing guitar work.”

Watch for more info regarding the new album including sound samples, pre-order link and release date in future news updates.

New Video “Afternow” Available From Blackfinger

Featuring the instantly recognizable vocals of former Trouble (and current The Skull) front man Eric Wagner, the doom group Blackfinger – which also features guitarist Terry Weston (Dream Death, Penance) – has unveiled a music video for the song “Afternow.” Filmed in the band’s rehearsal room, with additional footage added and edited by Rafael Ortega (Helsott, Ayreon), the clip can be seen in the player at the bottom.

Says Wagner, “I think ‘Afternow’ is about wondering why things are the way they are when they don’t really need to be. Maybe if we could only catch a glimpse of where we came from, it might be enough to change the future. (Wishful, I’m afraid.)”

“Afternow” comes from Blackfinger’s just-released M-Theory Audio debut, “When Colors Fade Away.” The album can currently be streamed on all digital platforms, while physical copies on CD and limited-edition blue/black marbled vinyl – which feature photos from Matt Bluejay and a striking graphic design by Al Oaks – can be purchased at M-Theory Audio’s online store and at select retailers worldwide.

Blackfinger has also announced a record release show, which will take place in Wagner’s current hometown of Pittsburgh at the venue Howlers on Oct. 28. The group will announce additional performances in the coming weeks.
