New Album “Return From The Shadows” Announced By Within Silence

Slovakian melodic metal band Within Silence will release the new album “Return From The Shadows” on October 27th in Europe and North America through Ulterium Records.

“Return From The Shadows” is a perfect follow-up to the debut album “Gallery of Life” and feels like a more mature and focused album. The impressive song-writing and melodies are still there, and together with heavy riffs, symphonic arrangements and epic parts the result is a really strong album!

The album was mixed and mastered by Roland Grapow (Masterplan, ex-Helloween) and the artwork was created by Jan Yrlund (Delain, Apocalyptica, Korpiklaani).

The track listing for “Return From The Shadows” is:

1. We Are The Ones
2. Heroes Must Return
3. Children Of Light
4. Calling From The Other Side
5. In the Darkness
6. The Final Victory
7. You & I
8. Master
9. Return From The Shadows

Apocalyptica Re-Releasing Debut Album With Four Bonus Tracks

“Plays Metallica by Four Cellos,” probably Apocalyptica’s most important album to date, was released exactly two decades ago today. Naturally, the seminal album was out in Finland first, however, over the course of 18 months many countries followed, leading to more than 1.3 million records sold.

To celebrate the album appropriately, Apocalyptica went back to the studio and fully remastered the original album. Of course the band couldn’t do without recording a few more Metallica songs to refine the anniversary edition further.

This upcoming new edition of “Plays Metallica by Four Cellos” contains three bonus tracks: the band’s all-time favorite “Battery.” live fan favorite and never before recorded “Seek and Destroy” as well as a brand-new version of the unparalleled “Nothing Else Matters.”

The fully remastered anniversary album will be out July 22 and will be available on CD, double vinyl, and digital download. Pre-orders are up now at this location.

Scythia Posts New Track “Laugh Of The Tsar”

Progressive/power metal four-piece Scythia recently announced the release of fourth independent full-length album, “Lineage,” hitting stores this Wednesday, May 4th. Pre-orders are up here.

Today the band releases a new track from the upcoming album. Check out “Laugh of the Tsar” below. Scythia guitarist and vocalist Dave Khan states:

“‘Laugh of the Tsar’ was written eight years ago and on Lineage we FINALLY give life to this surreal whirlwind of a symphonic metal track. From beginning to end, the song charges ahead with a fast-tempo onslaught of melodic death metal against an orchestral backdrop with only a brief respite in the middle to showcase Scythia’s ability to weave beautiful slavic-style folk music into a crushing metal track.”

Although the band primarily self-produced the album, “Lineage” features engineering from Nino Laurenne (Firewind, Finntroll, Wintersun, Ensiferum) and Lasse Lammert (Alestorm, Gloryhammer, Powerwolf), and mastering from Svante Forsback (Rammstein, Volbeat, Firewind, Apocalyptica). Nino Laurenne is also responsible for mixing duties on the album. “Lineage” was recorded at LSD Studios in Lubeck, Germany and Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki, Finland.

Vamps Collaborates With Apocalyptica For New Single “Sin In Justice”

While touring together in the U.S. earlier this year, Vamps and Apocalyptica discussed the idea of doing more together. In addition to the six U.K. shows later this month, the musicians have joined forces for a fresh piece of music: the single “Sin in Justice.”

For Vamps, this is the first time the band has collaborated with classically trained players. “The creative process was pretty hectic,” reflects Hyde of Vamps. “I worked on the song during our South American tour, writing the lyrics and running through the vocal lines, and the Apocalyptica camp spent time with the music between their various other commitments. Actually, it all started pretty organically, out of a growing friendship; we listened to each other’s demos, exchanged ideas, and things just grew from there. I think what we’ve ended up with is very fresh and certainly new for us. If our respective schedules allow, I’d love to work with Apocalyptica again…”

“Yes, we had a great time being on the road together,” continues Apocalyptica’s Eicca Toppinen. “We loved the idea and the experience of working together in this way. We’re really proud of the song, and we hope fans of both bands will enjoy it.”
