New Album “1755” Expected From Moonspell This Year

The rumors are true! Moonspell is ready to release a new album this year. The band is currently in pre-production with John Phipps at the band’s home studios (Inferno) in Portugal and has recently posted online some pictures of videos of the daily work at the studio.

The album title will be “1755” and it’s a quite surprising twist of events and direction for the band. Versing the Great Lisbon Earthquake (1755), the band has developed a lyrical concept that looks into the death and rebirth of Lisbon and how the disaster changed religion, politics and philosophy in the whole of Europe. The surprise is that the album will be fully sung in Portuguese!

What was supposed to be just a 4-song bonus for the “Lisboa Under the Spell” DVD-Blu-ray (recorded last February in Lisbon with 4000 wild fans attending, to be released in 2018) evolved into a full length album that will be produced by Tue Madsen (Antfarm Studios, DK) who worked with the band in a few previous releases: “Under Satanae,” “Night Eternal” and “Alpha Noir/Omega White.”

In the band’s own words, Fernando (lead singer) explains: “We fell in love with the concept and made perfect sense to sing it in our national language, Portuguese. I guess we were just waiting for the right opportunity to work on such an album. Musically it will be heavier than Extinct. It will be earthshaking but also very detailed with orchestrations and percussion as we want people to relive the Lisbon of the 18th century. Singing it in Portuguese, allowed me to find a different expression as a vocalist and my job is to be the survivor of the Earthquake, roaming the ruins and telling you all about it.”

The band will tour Latin America soon and will play several festivals in the Summer. Find all dates listed below and make sure to catch Moonspell live on the road:

Soul Demise Announces New Album “Thin Red Line”

Red is one of the most frequently used signal colors in science and in our everyday life. Soul Demise talks about a “Thin Red Line” with an impending new album and will for sure address something significant.

On previous album “Sindustry,” these five Germans showed that they are able to look beyond the boundaries of melodic death metal, and this time, they are getting even more ambitious.

Defying conventions, individual instruments were recorded in different studios. Drums were laid down with the help of Christoph Brandes in his Iguana Studios, Dennis Schneider guarded the tracking of the guitar and bass in Mainblast Studios, and the vocals were recorded at Rebound Studios under the watchful eyes of Simon Hammer.

In the end of the process, Tue Madsen in his Antfarm Studios handled mixing duties and succeeded in creating a very powerful sound, which represents all the strengths of the new material. The album’s musical statement is visualized with the artwork by Bjoern Gooßes from Killustrations.

“Thin Red Line“ will be released on May 19th, 2017 via Apostasy Records. The color to mark the date is obvious!

01. Plagued By Fear
02. Desperate Cry
03. Deceive The Masses
04. Empty
05. Live On The Edge
06. Frustration

Blood Eagle Parts With Mikeal “Gammelfar” Ehlert, Recording New Album

Denmark-based outfit Blood Eagle has issued the following announcement about lineup changes and recording a new album:

“We must apologize, it’s been a few months since our last concrete update. First up, we have a line-up change. Unfortunately we have to announce that Mikeal ‘Gammelfar’ Ehlert will be leaving Blood Eagle to focus full time on his stoner rock project IAmFired. There are absolutely no hard feelings at all, as we remain good friends and drinking buddies. We are just sad to see him go, but we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours!

“On a more postive note, we are excited to welcome Jeppe ‘Panzer’ Skouv filling out the Gammelfar shoes. We’ve known Panzer for many years, he is a great bass player and friend, with roots from the noise/hardcore/metal environment. Some of you probably know that he has been handling the bass duties in Danish band hardcore-noise act The Psyke Project, which are now extinct.

“Second, for all of you who have been asking us about a full length album, here it is. We are happy to announce that we will be entering the Antfarm Studios in September with producer Tue Madsen (Behemoth, The Haunted, Halford) to begin recording our debut album for a 2016 release via an undisclosed label.”

Dawn Of Demise Checks In From The Recording Studio

Dawn of Demise has issued the following update about recording material for a new album:

“We recently entered Antfarm Studios with renowned metalproducer Tue Madsen (HateSphere, Illdisposed, The Haunted, Sick Of It All, Behemoth, Vader, Gorefest, Halford, Kataklysm, Aborted, Panzerchrist a.o.) to record our new album, due out in 2012 on a label not yet known!

“From January to October, 2011 we’ve written, arranged and rehearsed 12 brandnew tracks which all meet the high standards, that we as musicians and hardcore deathmetal-fans & enthusiasts strive towards… It is slow, it is midtempo, it is groovy, sometimes a bit thrashy – but most importantly… IT IS HEAVY AS FUCK!

“Simon tracked all 12 tracks for our upcoming album in 4 days and we’re VERY pleased with what he layed down.. Now we will start tracking the guitars, leads, bass, vocals & backing vocals at home, before we meet up with Tue again in early December for the final mix and mastering.

“As a sidenote we can inform you drummers out there, that Simon recorded the album on a brandnew, recently bought Pearl Reference drumkit (1 snare, 4 toms, 1 kickdrum) and fitted it with Remo drumheads a few days before entering the studio.. He also plays Zildjian cymbals and of course Axis pedals for the kickdrum – Oh yeah, we’re optimized for Fucking Awesome sound!! Stay tuned for more studio-updates.

“Thanks for reading – oh and… DEATH METAL FOREVER!!!”
