Guitar Playthrough Clip For “Faces Of Meth” Issued By Narcotic Wasteland

Extreme metal four-piece Narcotic Wasteland – the full-time project of former Nile frontman Dallas Toler-Wade – will release a brand new full-length album, entitled “Delirium Tremens,” on October 13, 2017 via Megaforce Records/MRI. The album is now available for pre-orders via Amazon, with more options coming soon.

A few weeks ago, Narcotic Wasteland surprised fans with a brand new track, “Faces of Meth,” to great acclaim. Today, you can watch a guitar playthrough of the track, courtesy of Dallas Toler-Wade, via Guitar World at this location, or simply clicking in the player at the bottom.

Dallas says, “When writing this song, I was tapping into some of the musical ideas I had in the early 90s. I have always loved the toxic tri-tone sound. So, years ago I figured out a way to play them using my index and middle, then kind of hammering on the next strings over with my middle and pinky. This is all over the two albums in one form or another, and it is something I have quite enjoyed experimenting with over the years.”

“Delirium Tremens” shines a spotlight on negative human behavior, inspired by – but not entirely based on – our country’s addiction epidemic. Narcotic Wasteland named the new album after the title track, which is about delirium tremens, the medical term for symptoms an alcoholic suffers after about three days without a drink. Over the years, many of Toler-Wade’s friends and family have fallen into the abyss of addiction, and some have never returned. of remaining silent about the scourge that has surrounded him, the band addresses it throughout “Delirium Tremens.”

“Delirium Tremens” is a dramatic musical evolution from the band’s first release. Not only is the production better, the chemistry between Ed Rhone and Toler-Wade is impeccable, each feeling out and feeding off of the other’s playing. And bassist Chris Dupre and drummer Phil Cancilla form a whirlwind rhythm section that’s tighter than a locked door. Coupled with trenchant grooves and impacting vocals, “Delirium Tremens” is more than an homage to the band’s favorite musicians, it’s a new style wrought from some of the best pages of the past.

The track listing is as follows:

1. Introspective Nightmares
2. Faces of Meth
3. Return to the Underground
4. We Agnostics
5. In Memoriam (intro)
6. Bleed and Swell
7. Delirium Tremens
8. Self Immolation
9. Life Revolted
10. You Will Die Alone
11. Husk
12. Pharma Culture

“Light Dawning” Available For Free Download This Week

Hey there regulars, passers-by, and detractors, just a heads up that my latest fiction release – the grimdark fantasy / horror novel “Light Dawning” – is available for free this week through Friday night!

You can snag a copy for yourself at no cost in digital Kindle format at Amazon here (the physical edition remains available for sale at normal price).

If you missed it or want to try before you (freely) buy, the full first chapter can be read at this location.

Heavily inspired by a variety of metal from the likes of Code to Shining to Ihsahn, a full playlist that evokes the themes and mood of the book can also be heard below after the trailer.

Check it all out and let me know what you think! Here’s a quick synopsis of what to expect from the book:

Once known as the City on the Hill and revered far and wide for its independence and boundless opportunity, Cestia has become home only to the damned. Surviving under the brutal occupation of a southern empire for three long years, the oppressed populace has lost hope of liberation, turning instead towards an increasingly desperate rebellion willing to commit any atrocity for a chance at freedom.

As total war approaches, four lost souls trapped behind Cestia’s walls are on a collision course with fate, destined to either save the city or see it utterly destroyed while calling on forces beyond mankind’s comprehension. For good or ill, the light of a new day is about to dawn.

American Standards Posts New Video “Carpe Diem Tomorrow”

Phoenix hardcore outfit American Standards just released second music video single “Carpe Diem Tomorrow,” which comes off upcoming record “Anti-Melody.”

In this claustrophobically dark video filmed by Jacob Reynolds (Dead Rabbits, Escape The Fate, The New Low), silhouettes of the band thrash amidst frantic lights, capturing the passion and intensity of the song.

Vocalist Brandon Kellum commented on the video: “We all know the person that’s been at their job for 10 years and complains every day about it, someone who’s planed on going back to school or wants to travel but always makes excuses on why they don’t. ‘Carpe Diem, Tomorrow’ is about getting out of your comfort zone. Being open to new experiences and ways of thinking. Moving is living. You’re not getting any younger and there will never be a ‘right time’ so do something that scares the hell out of you every day of your life.”

New album “Anti-Melody” comes out April 28th and is available for pre-order on iTunes, Amazon and Bandcamp. Check out the new video below.
