Armored Saint enters Billboard charts for new live album, ‘Carpe Noctum’

– March 7th, 2017 –

Set to tour the UK/Ireland later this month

Armored Saint recently released their new live album, Carpe Noctum, via Metal Blade Records; for their efforts, the band has now entered the Billboard charts! See below for all positions:

#35 Billboard Current Hard Music Albums (USA)
#100 Billboard Independent Albums (USA)

Having toured with Metallica, Whitesnake, Alice Cooper, The Scorpions, and many other artists since their inception in the early 80s, Armored Saint has always been a highly regarded live act – not only in their hometown of Los Angeles, but also around the world. The only official release to capture this, however, is 1989′s live album, Saints Will Conquer – until now, with Carpe Noctum, which was recorded at the band’s 2015 Wacken festival set, as well as their headlining show in Aschaffenburg, Germany. To preview and purchase Carpe Noctum, please visit: metalblade.com/armoredsaint

Later this month, Armored Saint will return to Ireland and the UK (appearing in some cities for the first time!), before playing select USA dates in May. Joey Vera (bass) comments: “We’re really looking forward to playing these select UK shows in March. We’ve never played in Dublin, Manchester, Birmingham or Wales, so we’re super excited to play in these places – as well as in Belfast, which we’d played only once before. We get a lot of requests from our UK fan base and since we were offered the headline spot at Hammerfest, we decided to hit some of these other UK cities. So, here we go!”

Armored Saint tour dates
Mar. 20 – Voodoo – Dublin, Ireland
Mar. 21 – The Limelight – Belfast, Ireland
Mar. 23 – HammerFest – Gwynedd, N. Wales, UK

The Vicious Head Society Announces Debut Album “Abject Tomorrow”

The Vicious Head Society, the brainchild of Irish guitar virtuoso Graham Keane, today reveals that debut album “Abject Tomorrow” will be released on the 24th of March, 2017.

Featuring guests such as keyboardist Derek Sherinan of Alice Cooper fame, fellow Irishman and bass player Pat Byrne, and drum machine Kevin Talley, “Abject Tomorrow” is sure to please the ears of progressive metal fans and those with a taste for all things guitar.

As with most progressive records, “Abject Tomorrow” is no different in the sense that it is a concept album. The story is based in a dystopian future in which all humans are required to have emotion inhibiting implants implanted from birth. One man’s implant fails and it chronicles his journey of discovery and reconnection with his humanity.

“It’s a concept album but the more and more I wrote the more it became a strange biographical narration of my own confidence struggle with putting music into the world,” states Keane. “I hope it finds some kind of audience and that people enjoy it. For me, it’s a very emotive album. Even though it’s a concept album on the surface, there’s a lot of personal experience in it and there’s sure to be some people out there who can connect with it on an emotional level.”

1. The Sycophants
2. Abject Tomorrow
3. Downfall
4. Agenda
5. The 11th Hour
6. Psychedelic Torture Trip
7. Gods Of The New Age
8. Analogue Spectre

New Album “Who Do You Think We Are?” Announced By A Sound Of Thunder

A Sound Of Thunder has announced an upcoming covers album entitled “Who Do You Think We Are?.” A Kickstarter campaign was launched and can be accessed at this location.

The band states: “We put every bit of effort into this full-blown studio album as we do into our original albums, and churned out some Thunderized versions of classics by Alice Cooper, Rainbow, Mercyful Fate, Manowar, Tool, Kansas, Black Sabbath, Wrathchild USA, Dio, Dan Fogelberg, and Deep Purple!”

Production for the release was once again handled by the platinum awarded Kevin ‘131’ Gutierrez at Assembly Line Studios, and the band explains “you can expect the same punchy modern production as our previous albums but beefed up with even heavier guitars and some of the best performances we’ve ever captured.”

Recording for the release is complete and was partially funded by “The Lesser Key of Solomon” Kickstarter campaign from 2013. Funds from this new campaign will be used for manufacturing CDs & vinyl, paying the legally required licensing fees for the cover songs, and for new cover art from ASoT painter extraordinaire Dusan Markovic. “Who Do You Think We Are?” is expected for release in late-November or early-December.

Excess funds will be used on several projects that are currently in the works, including bringing the animated Udoroth back! The band explains: “Well, we’ve started to do just that! Animation is an expensive process, but we feel we have a video script that will be quite simply one of the most metal videos of all time, and that will hopefully allow us to turn Udoroth and the Queen of Hell into an ongoing series.”

Lizzy Borden signs solo artist deal with Metal Blade Records worldwide

– March 21st, 2016 –

Lizzy Borden has spent over three decades creating some of the most theatrical metal in existence, releasing classics such as Love You to Pieces (1985) and Master of Disguise (1989), while obliterating audiences worldwide with a stage show that rivals that of Marilyn Manson and Alice Cooper. For his efforts, he has become nothing short of a metal icon. Now, to take the next step in furthering his career, Lizzy Borden has signed a worldwide solo artist deal with Metal Blade Records – the label that helped to launch him to commercial success over 30 years ago. Ready to once again captivate both veteran and adolescent metal fans alike, Lizzy Borden plans to release a new album in 2016 and tour the world in support of it, with a reinvigorated band backing him up.

Lizzy Borden comments:
“I am extremely happy to re-sign with the same label we started with all those years ago (Metal Blade Records). I’m excited to be working with Brian Slagel and all the Metal Blade family again. It’s been my home for all six of our (full-length) studio albums – with the new record being the seventh, and the start of a new series of albums to come.
My focus for the last several years has been performing live and exposing my brand of American metal to countries all over the world. Now I feel is the right time to step back and push the re-start button. Time to get back to the art of creating new music. Touring around the world and having new fans discover Lizzy Borden for the first time has been rejuvenating, and so a new album seems like the perfect way to bridge the past with the future.

I will take this part of my journey and these next series of albums as a solo artist, as I have for some of the past LB records and tours. I look forward to working with many different established musicians and friends, as well as some undiscovered talent like we have been lucky enough to unearth in the past. To all of our fans that have followed Lizzy Borden from the beginning and all the new younger fans who have just discovered us, I hope you will come along with me for this next chapter. I am inspired, excited and ready to begin again. @realLizzyborden”
