Alice Cooper Announces UK Tour Dates With The Stranglers

Shock rock icon Alice Cooper has announced that he will embark on a headlining tour of the United Kingdom this October, where he will be joined by punk/new wave veterans, The Stranglers. The tour, which is being called, “Ol’ Black Is Eyes Is Back,” will stretch across seven dates and will also include support from MC50, the fiftieth anniversary celebration of the MC5.

Speaking to the NME, Cooper stated: “The great thing about the tour coming to the UK is we’ve done this last show for the last two and a half years so we’re ready to retire this show. The next show, all the elements are out there – it’s going to be a pure Alice Cooper show. It’s going to have all the stuff that everybody wants to see and new stuff and for the songs, we dip into a bunch of albums that people probably are not going to expect us to go to. So it’s going to be a total Alice extravaganza.”

The tour dates are as follows:

October 4 – Manchester Arena – Manchester, England
October 5 – The Event Complex Aberdeen (TECA) – Aberdeen, Scotland
October 7 – First Direct Arena – Leeds, England
October 8 – Brighton Centre – Brighton, England
October 10 – The O2 – London, England
October 11 – Resorts World Arena – Birmingham, England
October 12 – Motorpoint Arena Cardiff – Cardiff, Wales

Altitudes & Attitude (Megadeth/Anthrax) Premiere New Single “Out Here”

Altitudes & Attitude have a new record called “Get It Out” in the works for a January 18th release via Megaforce. The band’s core consists of Megadeth‘s David Ellefson and Anthrax‘s Frank Bello and the first single from the outing has been launched in the form of the below lyric video for the song “Out Here“. Guitarist Jon Donais (Anthrax, Shadows Fall) guests on this song.

Comments Bello of this current single:

“I’ve learned that writing songs is very cathartic. A lot of these lyrics are about the inner struggles of my life, and about the rage that has built up from my life experiences — my brother’s murder; my father abandoning my family when we were young, leaving us with no funds to pay the bills … the ups and downs of life in general. I’ve always had an anger inside that music really helps me deal with.”

Other guests involved with the effort include drummer Jeff Friedl (A Perfect Circle), Ace Frehley, Gus G. of Firewind, Nita Strauss (Alice Cooper), Christian Martucci (Stone Sour) and Satchel (Steel Panther).

Hostile Media Inks Deal With The Vicious Head Society

Earlier this year, The Vicious Head Society, the brainchild of Irish guitar virtuoso Graham Keane released the debut album “Abject Tomorrow,” which gained applause the world over. Featuring guests such as keyboardist Derek Sherinan of Alice Cooper, Billy Idol, Yngwie Malmsteen, Kiss, Steve Vai, and Joe Bonamassa fame, fellow Irishman and bass player Pat Byrne, and drum machine Kevin Talley “Abject Tomorrow” tickled the ears of progressive metal fans and those with a taste for all things guitar.

Today, Keane can reveal he has teamed up with Hostile Media to reissue his acclaimed debut on December 15th. The reissue will also include a bonus track “Xylematic Disembowelment.” Keane comments, “When Hostile Media offered me a contract which guarantees huge amounts of cash, fame and at least two limousine rides in exchange for my earthly soul, it was a no brainer! In seriousness, I’m delighted to sign with HM, it presents me with a chance to reach more people with my music. To celebrate, I recorded an out take from the Abject sessions and we just about managed to squeeze it on to the CD. ‘Xylematic Disembowelment’ is a zappa inspired instrumental combined with death metal. I don’t think I need to say any more than that!”

The track list for the album is:

1. The Sycophants
2. Abject Tomorrow
3. Downfall
4. Agenda
5. The 11th Hour
6. Psychedelic Torture Trip
7. Gods Of The New Age
8. Analogue Spectre
9. Xylematic Disembowelment

Anthrax Covers “Carry On Wayward Son” Live

This past Saturday, Anthrax closed a show at the sold-out Los Angeles “KillThrax” tour stop and those in attendance witnessed an exclusive treat: the band’s first-ever live performance of Kansas cover “Carry On Wayward Son.”

With shout-outs from fans for the band to play the song at the “KillThrax” shows, airplay on Active Rock stations across the country, more than 300,000 YouTube views, and even a “thumbs-up” for the cover from Kansas founding member Phil Ehart, the band decided it was time to play the tune live.

Anthrax fans are well aware that there is no keyboardist in the band and keyboards are prominent on this song, so the group enlisted the help of Fred Mandel to come onstage at the Wiltern Theatre for the performance. Mandel recorded the keyboards for the “Carry On” cover track and has played with icons from Alice Cooper to Elton John to Queen.
