Sodom Added to Brutal Assault Line-Up Along With Sick of it All, EYEHATEGOD and Therion

ODOM marks the return of Frank Blackfire (ex-Sodom, ex-Kreator, or Assassin). SODOM have already released seminal albums such as Persecution Mania, the live cut Mortal Way Of Live and the highly successful Agent Orange with Frank Blackfire and he is back in a line-up featuring two guitarists for the first time ever in the history of SODOM. Be ready for a brand new ripping SODOM sound!

Other revered living legends in this batch are NY/HC leading lights SICK OF IT ALL formed in 1986. More than three decades in the making, the New Yorkers show no signs of slowing down, getting soft, or toning down their stand-proud mentality on new album, Last Act of Defiance. The band still spits out anthems of heartful, no-holds-barred hardcore like on day one with live gigs full of unchained energy!

Veterans of NOLA sound mixing southern rock, blues riffs and hardcore punk EYEHATEGOD are one of the most reputable and distinctive bands ever, even defining a brand new genre now known as sludge in the past.

Other veterans formed in 1987 this time in Sweden and quickly became one of the most creative death metal bands, pushed limits of the contemporary sound and grew beyond themselves. Later on THERION released Theli, which would be the ultimate breakthrough for the band. With the record THERION turned towards a more opera-like, progressive and even orchestral sound which made them famous through the world. And now they’re coming to Brutal Assault with a special Theli show!

Odd-time signatures, avalanches of breaks and complex rhythmical as well as melodic patterns will excite every aficionado of extreme technicality, while growls down-tuned strings and double-bass assaults will more than satisfy extreme metal connoisseurs when WORMED take over BA stage!

Their South African brutal death metal cousins VULVODYNIA are one of the most active and well known bands in the genre today. Their brutal yet catchy, pit fueling, heavy as hell sound has since earned them fans from around the world and now they are ready to conquer BA!

The final addition on the list is the mysterious producer known as GOST, who embodies the character of Baalberith on his propulsive synthwave solo project that is channeling his fascination with the occult, John Carpenter and 80s slasher flicks. With its haunting atmospherics and aesthetics influenced by the blackest corners of the metal world his music quickly garnered GOST a loyal following within the rock and metal community worldwide.

Sodom Reveals New Lineup And Single Release

While rumours are still flying thick and fast in the media, Tom Angelripper has already announced the new line-up of his band Sodom: Husky (Asphyx, Desaster) is set to man the drum kit, Frank Blackfire (ex-Sodom, ex-Kreator, Frank Blackfire, Assassin) and Yorck Segatz (Beyondition) have been enlisted on guitars. Sodom have already released seminal albums such as Persecution Mania, the live cut Mortal Way Of Live and the highly successful Agent Orange with Frank Blackfire.

As he had hinted at the beginning of the year, Tom has opted for a line-up featuring two guitarists, an absolute novelty for Sodom. “Two guitarists allow us much more possibilities live, so we will be able to play tracks in future that we weren’t able to perform as a trio,” the Sodom vocalist/bassist explains his motives. In line with these new possibilities, the thrash act has already started to put together a setlist for the upcoming shows with all important classics as well as rare numbers that had never or only rarely been heard at their gigs. Says Tom: “I can promise that we will really let it rip in future.”

In Frank Blackfire, Yorck Segatz and Husky, Tom has consciously gone for musicians from his own background. “It’s common knowledge that all three are exceptional instrumentalists and that heavy metal is their life. But Sodom is also about getting on a personal level. The new band members are all dyed-in-the-wool Sodom fans and all live in Essen. Need I say more?”

While the guys have just moved into their new rehearsal room (Tom: “As it happens exactly where it all started back in 1982!”), the Sodom mastermind is already looking to the future. “We’ll start writing new material as soon as possible and plan to release a single with at least two brand-new numbers and a bonus track to give our fans a taste of our upcoming album,” he promises. “The direction of the new material already stands: ready for action and full of adrenaline, Sodom are set to celebrate the glorious days of the 1980s old school thrash that we all grew up with and that the band has always been celebrated for.”

Megadeth Honored With “Best Metal Performance” Grammy Award

Megadeth took home the Grammy tonight for the “Best Metal Performance” category at the 59th annual Grammy Awards, held Sunday, February 12 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The nomination marked Megadeth’s twelfth over the years. Megadeth was nominated for “Dystopia”, the title track for the band’s 2016 album.

As Megadeth approached the stage to accept the award, the house band inexplicably played Metallica’s classic “Master Of Puppets.”

Says mainman Dave Mustaine in his acceptance speech:

“Fantastic! Only took twelve tries to get this. Last time we were here, we were talking to Kenny G, and he asked me how many times we were here, and he goes, ‘Well, eleven isn’t that bad.’ And I said, ‘How many times did it take you?’ And he said, Twenty-one.’ And I was, like, ‘Oh, my god. If it takes twenty-one times… I don’t know if I’ll live that long.’ I wanna thank Jesus Christ, I wanna thank my wife, my children, all the band’s wives and kids, I wanna thank our management, our label, our agent, our attorney, our crew, all of you, especially the metal community. I think it’s a little weird that we ended up being category 69, but somebody’s got a sense of humor.”

Finally! pic.twitter.com/2KqdWhSrAX

— Dave Mustaine (@DaveMustaine) February 12, 2017

The nominees in the “Best Metal Performance” category were as follows:

Baroness – “Shock Me”
Gojira – “Silvera”
Korn – “Rotting In Vain”
Periphery – “The Price Is Wrong”

Canada’s White Lung Vocalist Calls Allegaeon the “Laziest, Most Pathetic, Sub-Human Beta Males in America”

Vancouver, B.C based White Lung’s frontwoman Mish Barber-Way has written an open letter to Allegaeon (via Clrvynt) concerning the band’s recent decision to attempt to crowdfund their band via Patreon. In a foaming diatribe the indie-rock band’s singer states:

“Dear Pussies,

I just stepped off the airplane and the first text I got was a link to an article about your Patreon page. Apparently, you need some money to keep your metal career alive. Well congratulations, Allegaeon! You are officially the laziest, most pathetic, sub-human beta males in America.

Rock isn’t what it used to be. Some guy named Neill already schooled you about that in Decibel Magazine. I’m not going to repeat what he said regarding over-saturation and personal responsibility. I’m just going to add the things he was too polite to say.

Your begging video was a complete joke. As I listened to your “TM” [tour manager] spout off all the money you owed (over $8,700), I was shaking my head. If you were a small business, you would fold. I listened to your tour expenses, and you guys are such morons. You are paying people you don’t even need. First off, management. If your manager was doing his job, you wouldn’t be in this position. Fire him. Two, a driver? Can none of you drive?

Continues Mish Barber-Way:

Stop ruining his life and let him go after a lucrative career – unlike you lazy shit brains. Don’t fire your agent. He is your only hope. Have none of you any business skills? Stop hiring people to do jobs you are capable of. Cut the expenses, except essentials like gas, shelter and water. Do you pay taxes or collect? Do you even file?

What makes you think you are entitled to our money and pity? Why should I spend my hard earned money to help you when your misfortune is by choice, not chance? I’m seriously asking.

I’ve been in a band for a while. It’s called White Lung. Look us up because you probably don’t know us, which is why I’ve had no shame in a day job. I noticed that one of your band mates does have a job at a head shop for $10 an hour. There are single moms out there raising a kid on that amount.

Surely in your years of the music industry, you can’t weasel your know-how connections into a more challenging and well paying position? Are you too “busy” booking tours and juggling the books to work? Appears not. Most men your age have families to provide for, not guitars to buy. Grow up.

Being in a band is awesome and easy… and annoying and taxing, just like everything else in this world. Touring is a young man’s game, and you have hit your expiration date. The free market doesn’t lie.

This is more pathetic than people who fake disability or rob small stores for money. At least those people are ashamed of themselves – they know what they are doing is sad, sub-par human behavior. They don’t publicly reveal their wrong doings. You “men” have deemed it perfectly acceptable to slouch on your Pikachu pillow and lament that you need money from your fans via a poorly shot video and free website page.

I hope that pillow belongs to one of your children. Actually, I don’t. That would mean one of you is so unfit to be a father that you can’t put your pipe dream aside to provide for your family as an adult.

You guys are annoying and dickless. I blame myself. Feminism did this to you weaklings. I knew you would take any chance to break free from responsibility and run like the wind into adolescence. Disgusting. Nothing dries a vagina as quick as a blow dryer, and your whole campaign is the Dyson Supersonic.

I have to go. I caught a 7am flight to Minneapolis to transfer to Iowa City to play a festival, then fly back to Austin, Texas for another. I leave that night and land in my home of LA that morning to and go straight back to my job as an account executive. I’ve got shit to do and it doesn’t include begging my “fans” for money. Don’t try to even fake that sitting in a van all day is hard. Day time on tour is a fucking nap.

I can’t tell you what to do. This is a free country, but I can let you know that I think you are sad excuses for humans. Being able to happily and modestly live off your music is an achievable and realistic goal – it involves internal business management, cutting expenses, working a day job and being FUCKING REALISTIC. If you need to borrow a reality check, I know a few people who might be done with theirs.

Feel free to contact me and talk if this offends you. I’m might be busy but I’ll return the message happily.”

Thanatopsis Premieres New Song & Lyric Video “Your Demise”

Founded in the year 1992, in Oakland, CA death metal veterans of Thanatopsis premiere their first new song and lyric video in nearly 20 years entitled “Your Demise”.

Between 1993 and 1997, the band released four demos and played some high-profile shows in the Bay Area. However, the group officially disbanded in 1997. There was a brief reunion in 2004 when the band played one show with Deeds of Flesh and Vile, and one show with Agent Steel. But beyond those two shows, the reunion was short-lived.

In 2015 the four founding members of Thanatopsis – Chris Stolle, Dave Couch, John Bishop, and Thom Hall – decided to revive the band and to collaborate on new material.

You can now check out “Your Demise” below.

Temisto Signs With Pulverised Records For Self-Titled Album Release

The one and only Pulverised Records just issued this announcement online about inking a deal with Temisto:

“Welcoming the latest on our roster is one of Sweden’s most deadly morbid-league Temisto! Previously under the moniker Chapel, the relentless duo bulldozed through ten blistering tracks on the group’s self-titled debut with such raw conviction and unsurpassed songwriting intellect; constantly moving in and out of dissonant territory.

“With the now-defunct Morbus Chron frontman Robert Andersson and Elias Scharmer (ex-Abduction, ex-Mutilate) at the producer / engineering helm, Temisto’s self-titled album was also mastered by Tore Stjerna at Necromorbus Studio (Watain, Desultory, Repugnant, etc) with exquisite artwork and layout by Obssessed By Cruelty (Wolfbrigade, Enforcer, Agent Steel, Sabbat, etc).

“The Temisto self-titled album is easily one of the most refreshing stuff we have heard this year and the one thing that caught our attention instantly was how accomplished they are as songwriters, coupled with that organic and honest slab of death metal that we rarely hear these days. The level of maturity displayed on the record is just unbelievable and it certainly transcends an aura of otherworldly obscurity that Temisto have managed to capture perfectly.”

The self-titled effort comes out everywhere on February 26th, 2016 and the track listing will be as follows:

1. Above Sacred Ground
2. Descent Into Madness
3. Abyssal Depths
4. Medusa
5. The Ritual
6. Succubus
7. Demiurge
8. Bestial Visions
9. Temple Of The Damned
10. Seance
