New Album “Into A Dark Divinity” Announced By Mausoleum Gate

Finnish traditional metal act Mausoleum Gate will release the sophomore full length album “Into A Dark Divinity” on September 8th via Cruz Del Sur Records.

The 2014 self-titled debut album was not as much of a revelation as it was a reminder of how vintage metal should be played. Bucking virtually every modern production trend, the Finns greeted audiences with a warm analog production sound, flanked by the star-gazing vocals of V-P Varpula and the classy twin guitar action of Count LaFey and Kasperi Puranen. Critical and fan acclaim soon followed, along with key festival appearances at Keep It True and Muskelrock, with many hailing Mausoleum Gate as one of the most exciting new retro metal bands on the scene.

Three years removed from that debut, the Finns return with the six-song “Into A Dark Divinity.” Capitalizing on the self-titled debut’s majestic sound, Mausoleum Gate harnesses the keyboard-dominated bravado of classic Deep Purple and Rainbow and blends it with the proto metal visions of Manilla Road and early Iron Maiden.

With an increased emphasis on Hammond C3 organ and keyboard interplay (courtesy of bass player Wicked Ischianus), songs such as “Condemned To Darkness” and the lurking “Apophis” augment the high-wire vocals of Varpula, who has further established himself as one of the most distinctive vocalists in traditional metal. The melody-driven “Solomon’s Key” and NWOBHM-nspired “Horns” recall an era where actual songwriting would make or break a band. The graceful closing title track also offers up a new angle from Mausoleum Gate, showcasing lush textures and atmospheric acoustic guitar work.

A must-have for any and all traditional metal aficionados, “Into a Dark Divinity” proves
Mausoleum Gate is one of the scene’s best new true metal torchbearers. Singular, alluring and able to captivate audiences of all varieties, Mausoleum Gate represents a new front in authentic vintage metal. Sophomore slump be damned – Mausoleum Gate are the real deal.

The track listing for the album is:

1. Condemned To Darkness
2. Burn The Witches At Dawn
3. Apophis
4. Solomon’s Key
5. Horns
6. Into A Dark Divinity

Binary Code Posts “Moonsblood” Lyric Video

New Jersey progressive metal group Binary Code recently announced the May 24th release “Moonsblood,” the full-length follow-up to 2009 release, “Suspension of Disbelief.”

With a month to go before release, Binary Code just dropped a brand new lyric video for the title track “Moonsblood.”

Guitarist Jesse Zuretti states: “On my end, the music was written during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. We had no power for two weeks, the place I lived in was in total post-apocalyptic dismay. I wrote the song on acoustic guitar, oddly enough. I had just watched the movie ‘Melancholia’ by Lars Von Triers, which was about a planet colliding with Earth. I just tried to tie in a score of sorts to what I was surrounded by, coupled with the atmosphere of the movie. Oded’s lyrics are certainly complimentary to the tone.”

Engineered and mixed by Eyal Levi (August Burns Red, The Contortionist, Monuments) at Audiohammer Studios and mastered by Alan Douches (Suicide Silence, Dillinger Escape Plan, Converge) at West West Side Music, the album is up for pre-order here. The “Moonsblood” track listing is as follows:

1. Immersion
2. Trees 100ft Underwater
3. Dark Meditations
4. Moonsblood
5. Knell
6. Push
7. Cetacean
8. 707
9. Unexist

The Body Announces Split Release With Krieg

The continuing discography of apocalyptic rogue faction The Body expands once again with a newest anti-human outcry through a collaborative LP with Krieg. The split is now locked up for official release on November 13, 2015 through At A Loss Recordings.

Formed in mid-1990s and late 1990s, respectively, Krieg and The Body met in the mid 2000s, being different sonically but sharing a bleak world view and inspirations musically far outside of the genre standards of metal. When Neill Jameson, the sole founding and constant member of Krieg, showed up to the recording sessions at Machines With Magnets in Providence, Rhode Island with only an acoustic guitar, a few pedals and a bottle of whiskey, Lee Buford and Chop King of The Body knew that the collaboration would be something vastly different from their other recordings.

Written and recorded during the long sessions of The Boyd’s “Christs, Redeemers” and “I Shall Die Here” LPs, the end result is a blackened industrial crush of noise and anguish. Stand by for audio transmissions, pre-order links and more on The Body & Krieg in the coming days. The track listing is:

1. Bottom Of The Bottle, Bottom Of The River
2. Carved Out And Caved In
3. Fracture
4. Celebrate Your Shame
5. Never Worth Your Name
6. Gallows
7. A Failure Worth Killing Yourself
8. The Final Nail

Inverted Serenity Posts New Single “Breath Of Life”

Producing technical groovy death metal rooted in musical duality and lyricism, Winnipeg’s Inverted Serenity is now streaming new track “Breath of Life” below, taken off upcoming album “Integral.”

The new album will drop on October 9, 2015 and Inverted Serenity had this to say about the “Breath Of Life” single:

“This track is the longest on the record and is definitely one of the most impressive songs structurally. Beginning with a doom inspired riff that picks itself up into an uplifting proggy type groove which then unexpectedly turns itself into an atmospheric black metal passage is just one of the many interesting changes the song paints itself into.

“This is also the first track that we as a band chose to include clean group vocals with pan out really smoothly with the dissonant acoustic guitar riff written by Tomas a few years prior. The theme discussed in the lyrics is based upon balancing of mind as it increasingly unfolds itself unto the realization that it is the observer of all that is. Through the process knowing the rhythmic balanced interchange of natures polarity (inhalation/exhalation), the endless unfolding is fully expressed.”

Deathcode Society Issues New Album Update

Deathcode Society just checked in with the following announcement about nearing the end of working on a new album:

“A few words to say that we are about to finish the album. We are done with the most crucial stages of the mixing process, and we just have to make every elements sound perfect and balanced.

“Just picture there is a couple of songs with more than 100 recorded tracks. We also have several little things to record (acoustic guitar on one song, an electronic intermezzo to finalize, maybe a couple of voice overdubs), but only tiny details compared to the huge cathedral we have built.

“It’s also time to unveil a part of the graphic identity of the album. We have worked with Andrzej Masianis for an artwork that you will discover inside the CD box.

“The cover itself will be painted in December by the great Paolo Girardi, who is enthusiastic about the ideas we sent him.

“So, we have never been so close to the end, haven’t we?”

Autumns Eyes is currently working on a new EP to follow the previous full-length album “Please Deceive Me” (reviewed here).

A video shot during the acoustic guitar recording sessions for the release has been posted online and can be viewed below. Autumns Eyes also comments:

“The upcoming EP from solo metal band Autumns Eyes features a fair amount of acoustic guitars, and here we get to see a sneak peek of an overdubbing session for the new album.

“For all you gear heads out there, the acoustics for this album were recorded in a somewhat non-traditional fashion utilizing a Shure SM57 microphone, rather than the standard condenser microphones used on the majority of acoustic recordings.”
