New Song “Rat” Available From Gnaw

As Translation Loss Records prepares “Cutting Pieces,” the third LP by New York City-based Gnaw for release at the end of the month, No Clean Singing has undertaken the task of issuing the album’s lead track, “Rat” which you can check out over here, or simply by staying here and clicking the player below.

Gnaw was created by vocalist Alan Dubin following the dissolution of Khanate. Closing a four-year gap since the acclaimed second album, “Horrible Chamber,” Gnaw’s “Cutting Pieces” dredges forth some of the outfit’s most unnerving audio assaults yet. The seismic atrocities and haunting intricacies on “Cutting Pieces” leaves an instantly damaging, long-lasting impression, their cumulative decimation producing some of the outfit’s most cinematic terror to date.

Gnaw commented on the new single, “‘Rat’ was conceived in individual heliocentric hallucinations as we each submerged ourselves in separate self-deprecation chambers. We feel it is a perfect album lead-off song. It’s visual. It feels like an entrance to a dark recess.”

Translation Loss will release “Cutting Pieces” on LP, CD, and digital formats on October 27th; find pre-orders over at this location.

Beneath Posts “Eyecatcher” Lyric Video

Next month, Icelandic death metal unit Beneath will unleash third full-length album, “Ephemeris.” Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Fredrik Nordström at the acclaimed Studio Fredman in the fall of 2016, “Ephemeris” features new recruit Mike Heller at the drum stool.

The result is nine tracks of relentless brutality, and today one of those cuts comes online. Check out the “Eyecatcher” lyric video below.

Notes guitarist Unnar Sigurðsson: “‘Ephemeris’ is our very best release so far. We wanted to do an album more dynamic and natural than those before and we are extremely proud of the outcome. It has elements from all of us combined into something very different from the other releases.”

Adds Jóhann Ingi Sigurðsson, “‘Ephemeris’ has been a demanding album for us personally and in many ways, it represents a turning point for the band. We’ve always pushed ourselves in ways that keep us invested and engaged in our music, and on this album, that meant making big changes to our overall sound. There are songs that are a marriage of pure heaviness and brutality, while on the other spectrum there are some very challenging technical arrangements pushing the limits of our playing abilities. In the end, we ended up with an album that feels musically multidimensional and that we are extremely proud of.”

New Collaboration With Andy LaRocque Announced By Shadowside

Brazilian Metal band Shadowside recently introduced Magnus Rosén (ex-HammerFall) as the new bass player and today announce a collaboration with King Diamond guitarist and renowned producer Andy La Rocque.

The musician, who also did some live appearances with Motörhead, wrote a few songs in partnership with Magnus Rosén and Shadowside is working on that material, which will be part of the band’s new (yet untitled) album, already in the advanced songwriting and pre-production process.

Shadowside has the challenge of surpassing the acclaimed “Inner Monster Out” album which garnered awards in Brazil and worldwide, such as the Independent Music Awards as “Best Hardcore/Metal Album.” The album hit #26 on the Japanese charts according to BURRN! Magazine and #9 on CMJ’s Loud Rock USA radio charts. The “Inner Monster Out” Tour included over 60 shows and visited 18 countries.
