Walpyrgus Unveils Debut Album “Walpyrgus Nights”

Featuring an all-star cast of heavy metal veterans, North Carolina’s Walpyrgus is proud to announce the forthcoming Cruz Del Sur Music release of full-length debut album “Walpyrgus Nights.”

The album will be released on compact disc, vinyl (featuring a 56-page comic book with lyrics) and digital formats on June 9th, 2017. The cover artwork and track listing are available below, while Cruz Del Sur comments:

“‘Walpyrgus Nights’ represents the full realization of the potential of this dangerous meeting of metal minds. Hook after hook, cascading guitar harmonies, anthemic soaring vocals, and epic unexpected twists and turns abound on this eight-song opus. It is a genuinely inspired, wild, fun ride through the annals of classic Hard Rock and early Metal with a distinct personality.

“The album, which features the artwork of Gustavo Sazes (Morbid Angel, Arch Enemy, Firewind), was recorded in a variety of locations over the course of two intense years under the guidance of Tom Phillips, mixed by longtime collaborator Kevin ‘131’ Gutierrez (Raven, Deceased, Believer) and mastered by Bill Wolf (Raven, While Heaven Wept).

“So when the when the stars are right and you’re alone, take a journey, lock the world tight and prepare yourself for the tales of demons, spectres, and witches rising on ‘Walpyrgus Nights!'”

1. The Dead of Night
2. Somewhere Under Summerwind
3. Dead Girls
4. Lauralone
5. Palmystry
6. She Lives
7. Light of a Torch [Witch Cross cover]
8. Walpyrgus Nights

Destrage posts in-depth making-of-video of ‘A Means to No End’

– April 26th, 2017 –

Set to kick off European tour with Periphery, The Contortionist next week

You can try to put Destrage in a box but you will never succeed. Words such as “progressive”, “cinematic”, “mathcore”, “technical” and “groove-laden”, could be thrown at them, but really the only one you need is Destrage, for they are in a category of their own making. This has never been more true than on A Means To No End, the fourth full-length from the Milan, Italy-based 5-piece, which was released last October via Metal Blade Records. Riveting from start to finish, it leads the listener through an emotionally-charged labyrinth of complex yet catchy melody and muscle, following nobody’s rules, and it stands out as one of the truly unique releases of 2016.

For a preview of A Means To No End, Destrage has now posted an in-depth making-of-video for the album, which can be viewed at: youtube.com/watch?v=DPoFYvKLRes

Destrage‘s Matteo Di Giola (guitar) comments: “The best thing about entering the studio is that the rest of the world stays out. The band members and the studio crew captured the images themselves, behind closed doors, to focus on what was the most immersive and challenging record-making of their career. Now, a year from then, the external eye of a talented director sums it up and makes it a tale. Big thanks go to Bode Music Gear for making this possible.”

To support this outstanding album, Destrage will join Periphery and The Contortionist next week on the “European Unrest Tour”. See below for all dates!

Anthrax Covers “Carry On Wayward Son” Live

This past Saturday, Anthrax closed a show at the sold-out Los Angeles “KillThrax” tour stop and those in attendance witnessed an exclusive treat: the band’s first-ever live performance of Kansas cover “Carry On Wayward Son.”

With shout-outs from fans for the band to play the song at the “KillThrax” shows, airplay on Active Rock stations across the country, more than 300,000 YouTube views, and even a “thumbs-up” for the cover from Kansas founding member Phil Ehart, the band decided it was time to play the tune live.

Anthrax fans are well aware that there is no keyboardist in the band and keyboards are prominent on this song, so the group enlisted the help of Fred Mandel to come onstage at the Wiltern Theatre for the performance. Mandel recorded the keyboards for the “Carry On” cover track and has played with icons from Alice Cooper to Elton John to Queen.

Monte Pittman launches “Obliterated” video (feat. Richard Christy & Billy Sheehan)

– April 20th, 2017 –

Having released his new album, Inverted Grasp of Balance, last year via Metal Blade Records, Monte Pittman is now launching a performance video for the album track “Obliterated”, featuring drummer Richard Christy and bassist Billy Sheehan (both of whom played on the album). To watch “Obliterated” (with footage of Billy Sheehan from the album’s recording sessions), please visit: youtube.com/watch?v=tBOYhLCputg

There are great guitarists, great vocalists and great songwriters, but Monte Pittman is one of the elite few who can truly lay claim to all three titles. With his fourth full-length, Inverted Grasp of Balance, he has once again raised the stakes, delivering a riveting collection of full force metal that showcases his continuing evolution, undoubtedly expanding his devout – and ravenous – fan base. The record also features powerhouse drummer Richard Christy of Charred Walls Of The Damned/Iced Earth/Death fame and virtuoso bassist Billy Sheehan, famous for his work with a plethora of talented artists – including David Lee Roth, Mr. Big and, more recently, Winery Dogs. Igorrr launches “The Making of ‘Savage Sinusoid’ [Part 1]“

– April 19th, 2017 –

On June 16th, Igorrr – the brainchild of French musician and eclectic composer Gautier Serre – will release their new album, Savage Sinusoid, via Metal Blade Records. On this record, electronic manipulations, accordion, saxophone, sitar, harpsichord, mandolin and strings sit comfortably alongside ruthless blastbeats, chunky riffs, death grunts and soaring operatic vocals – and as chaotic as this might sometimes seem, there is no lack of heart behind everything thundering from the speakers. To watch a behind-the-scenes video of the making of Savage Sinusoid, part 1 of the series can be viewed at: youtube.com/watch?v=Yq7_Kax-DwI

A video for the album’s first single, “ieuD”, can also be viewed at: metalblade.com/igorrr – where Savage Sinusoid can be pre-ordered in the following formats:

–Digipak CD
–pale skin clear vinyl (limited to 500 copies)
–cream/white splatter (limited to 200 copies – EU exclusive)
–golden yellow vinyl (limited to 100 copies – Bandcamp exclusive)
–tan-marbled vinyl (limited to 200 copies – US exclusive)
*exclusive bundles with a shirt, plus digital options are also available!

Savage Sinusoid track-listing:
1. Viande
2. ieuD
3. Houmous
4. Opus Brain
5. Probleme d’emotion
6. Spaghetti Forever
7. Cheval
8. Apopathodiaphulatophobie
9. Va te foutre
10. Robert
11. Au Revoir

To realize Savage Sinusoid as a completely sample-free record, Serre reunited with vocalists Laurent Lunoir and Laure Le Prunenec, along with drummer Sylvain Bouvier, and collaborated with more musicians than on any of his previous releases – one of those guests being Cattle Decapitation‘s Travis Ryan, who lends his vocals on “Cheval”, “Apopathodiaphulatophobie” and “Robert”. “Viande” also sees Teloch (Mayhem) contribute some guitar/bass work, while “Houmous” features accordionists Pierre Mussi and Adam Stacey (the latter of whom is in Secret Chiefs 3 – a project by Mr. Bungle‘s Trey Spruance). While Savage Sinusoid draws from a plethora of genres, Serre has no intention of baffling or alienating potential listeners. As he explains:“I just want to make the music I love, without asking myself if it’s gonna be too complex or too far from what people like. I want to make the music which has sense to me, with no restrictions, like a big party with metalheads, electronics nerds, classical and baroque-heads and gypsy violinists getting drunk and joining together to bring the best of every genre.”

Igorrr will give European fans their first taste of new songs this spring/summer, with more shows to be announced soon. See below for all dates!

Igorrr tour dates
