Oceans Of Slumber Announces The Depature Of Guitarists

Houston, Texas based progressive metal outfit Oceans Of Slumber has announced that both guitarists Sean Gary and Anthony Contrereas have left the band. A statement on Facebook reads as follows:

“As many of you have seen, we’ve been having a rough patch over the last few years. Especially October. After Anthony decided to leave us (which was something we somewhat expected sadly), Sean informed us that he too would be exiting. He needed to concentrate on his personal life and career and that meant no more touring and band commitments. We’ve known for a bit about this and have auditioned a handful of people. We’ve got one of two covered now… Now the hunt begins for the next.

“Severing ties in a relationship is never easy. Losing two of the founding members of this band after 7 years of close proximity sucks too. Anthony and I have been in multiple bands together and have traveled all over the world together in them. Sean has been my right hand man from the get go. It’s taken a lot of work to get where we are. But things change. They always do. We will miss them immensely, but this house isn’t finished being built and we’re left with the task of completing it. Though there is an amount of hurt and sadness on our end, we will power through all of this and come out just fine. We must stay vigilant not to be dragged down with the daunting task of moving forward. With all of that said; goodbye to the two of you and we hope all of the things you want and need happen for you.”

Epica Announces “Design Your Universe” European Shows

Dutch symphonic heavyweights Epica announce a select number of exclusive shows in support of the 10th anniversary of their album Design Your Universe. The album until today holds a special place in the hearts of their fans and includes fan-favorites as “Kingdom Of Heaven” and “Design Your Universe”.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Design Your Universe the band will return to a number of venues they played while touring on the album back in 2009/2010 which most likely will sell out far in advance.

Simone Simons comments: “After all those years, Design Your Universe remains one of my all-time favorite Epica albums. I know that the message behind the title song also resonates with a lot our fans because there are so many Design Your Universe related tattoos. The title track and ‘Unleashed’ are songs that I hold very dear and the memories we made in that time of our career. I am looking forward to go back in time with you all while we play more songs from our Design Your Universe album.”

Mark Jansen adds” “Design Your Universe is very dear to me, it’s an album that was written during a very inspiring time. The title track shows us that we can we all create our destiny and it’s still one of my favorite tracks to play live. Also, quite a few other songs of the album deserve to be played again and we will! Our set is gonna be filled with DYU songs so don’t miss one of these opportunities.”

Late All That Remains Guitarist Oli Herbert’s Cause Of Death Revealed

According to late All That Remains guitarist Oli Herbert’s widow, the toxicology report for him has come back and listed his cause of death as drowning. She issued the following statement regarding that:

“Good morning everyone this is Beth. And indeed it IS a good morning; Toxicology results are back as is the official cause of my husband’s death!

Cause of death- Drowning
Toxicology- Oli was apparently self-treating for manic-depression that has run in his family for several generations. Anti-depressants were found in his system, as well as a sleep aid. The psych meds found in his system were the same ones that a close relative has been prescribed for a long time, so he knew what to hunt down for the “treatment”.

Seeing how he was not going (and WOULDN’T GO) to a doctor to get diagnosed with the issue and was not being prescribed the medications and monitored on them, it explains his occasional erratic behavior here at home.

As far as why the memorial was cancelled; concern for my personal safety and home due to numerous threats to both is the reason.

If anybody knows where Oli was getting the psych meds, please call CT State Police, Troop C in Tolland, CT.”

The 44-years-old guitarist‘s body was found in a pond nearby his Stafford Springs, CT home on October 16th, 2018.

All That Remains just released their new record “Victim Of The New Disease”, and have tapped guitarist Jason Richardson as Herbert’s fill-in.
