Primordial announces new album “Exile Amongst The Ruins” for March 30th!

– January 18th, 2018 –

“Stolen Years” video streaming now!

Irish pagan metal gods PRIMORDIAL announces their new album Exile Amongst The Ruins for a March 30th release through Metal Blade Records. The band teamed with producer Ola Ersfjord, who worked on their 2016 live album Gods to the Godless. The record was tracked at Dublin’s Camelot Studios, located adjacent to PRIMORDIAL‘s rehearsal room.

Visit metalblade.com/primordial to check out the video for the first single “Stolen Years.” At the same location, fans can pre-order Exile Amongst The Ruins in the following formats:

–ltd. 1st ed. Digibook-CD with bonus-CD
–jewelcase-CD
–ltd. ed. Artbook (incl. 5 x 10″ in golden vinyl)
–180g black vinyl
–clear gray-brown marbled vinyl (EU exclusive – limited to 700 copies)
–violet red purple marbled vinyl (EU exclusive – limited to 300 copies)
–clear pale pink/white splattered vinyl (EU eBay exclusive – limited to 100 copies)
–purple red marbled vinyl (EU exclusive – limited to 200 copies)
–transparent green vinyl (Blast exclusive – limited to 200 copies)
–dead gold marbled vinyl (Napalm exclusive – limited to 300 copies)
–rosy brown/purple marbled vinyl (US exclusive – limited to 400 copies)
–tan clear vinyl (US exclusive – limited to 200 copies)

Once again building upon their signature sound, the follow up to 2014′s Where Greater Men Have Fallen is a more raw, “old school sounding” record than its predecessor. Hitting home with what vocalist A.A. Nemtheanga describes as “a direct energy” and wielding an urgency that is undeniable, the Irish quintet once again effortlessly blend elements of tragedy and might like no one else. Likewise, the evolution in their sound continues to be organic and unforced, ensuring that Exile Amongst The Ruins is essential listening for both their long term faithful and those only now drawn into their world.

Commenting about the album’s first single, ‘Stolen Years’, A.A. Nemtheanga added: “‘Stolen Years’ may seem like a strange choice as our lead single, and on the face of if I guess it is. It’s not a blood and thunder epic about tragedy and might and the ruin of nations, nor is it 9 minute epistle of doom. Have no fear, the album does contain those also but to open this time we chose something different. This album has some surprises and this is one of them, a short and painfully simple song which almost didn’t make the final cut if you can believe so. The video, cut by Costin Chioreanu, is about the journey involved in finally getting to that moment where you walk on stage, the song itself about that last night on earth that comes to us all, sometimes we never know when that might be, hold your loved ones tight tonight, this could be it…

Exile Amongst The Ruins track listing:
1. Nail Their Tongues
2. To Hell or the Hangman
3. Where Lie the Gods
4. Exile Amongst the Ruins
5. Upon Our Spiritual Deathbed
6. Stolen Years
7. Sunken Lungs
8. Last Call

To coincide with the album release the Irishmen have just announced two special and rather intimate album-release shows in Germany as well as their appearance on the Heathen Crusade European tour with Finnish MOONSORROW as co-headliners and German DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT as support act!

Hamferð releases third single, “Stygd”

– January 10th, 2018 –

Doomsters Hamferð from the Faroe Islands will release their new full-length, Támsins likam , this Friday (January 12th) via Metal Blade Records! In anticipation of this release, the band has now launched the third single from the album – “Stygd” – at: metalblade.com/hamferd

At the same location, you can watch the lyric video for the first single, “Hon syndrast”, as well as the production video for the 2nd single, “Frosthvarv” – plus, pre-order the album in the following formats:

–jewelcase CD
–180g black vinyl
–dark grey marbled vinyl (EU exclusive – limited to 300 copies)
–pastel violet marbled vinyl (EU exclusive – limited to 200 copies)
–milky clear vinyl (EU exclusive – limited to 200 copies)
–transparent blue vinyl (TUTL exclusive – limited to 100 copies)
–light grey black marbled vinyl (US exclusive – limited to 200 copies)

Roughly translated as “Body of the mist”, Támsins likam is an attempt to create the most intriguing, honest and unique Hamferð experience yet. It is nothing less than a pinnacle; a culmination of many years of refining both sound and songwriting, spearheaded by a strong desire to keep progressing and expanding. This has resulted in an album bustling with elements ancient and familiar, violent and strange, earthen and spectral – all the while fiercely seeking to surprise and move the listener.

Once again recorded in Studio Bloch in the Faroe Islands, but this time mixed by the legendary Swedish sound wizard Daniel Bergstrand in his Dugout Productions studio, Támsins likam exhibits a rawer and more mature version of the known Hamferð sound. The somewhat harsh and bare soundscape deliberately contrasts with the refined compositions, while at the same time aligning with the increasingly honest and violent lyrical content.

“Faroese doom metal” is a powerful sound. Exclusive to this self-styled tag is Hamferð. For a near decade, the funeral dressed sextet has been casting a unique expression rooted in conceptual tragedy and intense, narrative doom metal.

Faroese history and folklore are mixed together with grand atmospheres, a trademark that has earned worldwide attention. Stages at festivals such as Inferno, Midgardsblot, Tuska, Summer Breeze, Wacken and many more have been turned into funerary ceremonies. Touring with bands like Amorphis and Moonsorrow has further garnered the band a respected reputation due to strong yet solemn live performances.

The lyrical and conceptual approach is ambitious in scope. People are drawn to it, even though the band sings in their native tongue, Faroese. With a highly engaging idea concerning lyrics and songwriting, the hour has arrived to close a conceptual trilogy which commenced with the 2010 EP Vilst er siðsta fet, continued with the internationally acclaimed 2013 full-length album Evst, and is now concluded with Támsins likam .

Támsins likam track-listing:
01. Fylgisflog
02. Stygd
03. Tvístevndur meldur
04. Frosthvarv
05. Hon Syndrast
06. Vápn í anda

Hamferð line-up:
Jon Aldara – Vocals
John Egholm – Guitar
Theodor Kapnas – Guitar
Isak Petersen – Bass
Esmar Joensen – Keyboards

The Crown announces new album, ‘Cobra Speed Venom’

– January 8th, 2018 –

Launches video for “Iron Crown”

Swedish death metal legends The Crown have announced their new album, Cobra Speed Venom, for a March 16th release through Metal Blade Records. Produced together with Fredrik Nordstrom at Studio Fredman, the record promises to be one of the biggest surprises of the year. A return to death metal speed and darkness in full glory!

The Crown comments: “We are really looking forward to finally be able to show our fans how damn good this band can be when the circumstances are right. With that I mean to be able to do an album the way we want to do it: creating as a band, rehearsing as a band, recording as a band. You will hear a band performing here, with fierce energy and hunger!”

To watch the video for the first single, “Iron Crown”, please visit: metalblade.com/thecrown – where the record can also be pre-ordered in the following formats:

With their motivation at an all-time high, The Crown spent most of 2017 intensely rehearsing 13 new songs. They eventually entered the classic Studio Fredman with Fredrik Nordstrom to record what would become their new album, Cobra Speed Venom. The sound is massive, brutal and a real punch in the face. Extreme speed and aggression mixed with classic heavy metal and rock n’ roll, which really shows that The Crown has no boundaries. The apocalyptic theme of the lyrics and music also fits perfectly with the outstanding artwork of Christian Sloan Hall.

After 27 years, the band is still motivated to create a classic piece of art – and together with Metal Blade Records once again, the vision is real.

Having grown with each subsequent release, Posthuman is a devastating addition to Harm’s Way‘s catalog. “We’ve always stayed true to who we are and allowed the songwriting process to take shape organically from record to record, and as the band has progressed, our sound has become more refined with metal and industrial influences,” states drummer Chris Mills, while guitarist Bo Lueders succinctly sums up what people can expect when they first spin the record: “To a Harm’s Way fan, I would describe ‘Posthuman‘ as a blend of ‘Isolation‘(2011) and ‘Rust‘ (2015), but it’s sonically way more insane. To anyone else, I would simply say it’s full on heavy and full on aggression.”

For a first preview of Posthuman, the single “Human Carrying Capacity” can be streamed at: metalblade.com/harmsway – where the record can also be pre-ordered in the following formats:

–CD
–Highlighter red/orange vinyl + download card (limited to 200 copies – USA exclusive)

–Clear “birthday cake” splattered vinyl + download card (limited to 200 copies – EU exclusive)
–Milky-clear/blue-green-red splattered vinyl + download card (limited to 100 copies – EU exclusive)
* exclusive bundles with a shirt, plus digital options are also available!

With producer Putney overseeing the tracking at Graphic Nature Audio in Belleville, New Jersey, Posthuman came together easily and fluidly. Having three weeks to track it – the longest they have ever spent on a single full-length – was definitely beneficial. “We spent the first three days there doing pre-production and refining the songs to be the best possible versions of themselves,” says Mills. “The amount of time we had in creating this record meant we were able to experiment and not have to rush with any aspect of it, and I feel it shows in the end product.” The title, Posthuman, aptly summarizes the themes of the record, reflecting a sense of not feeling like a part of the world anymore, whether that be politically, socially, ethically, or emotionally. “It very much pulls from ideas of transcendence, progression, and resilience”, Mills elaborates, “and it’s very much a push back on traditional ideas of the self and self-actualization. ‘Posthuman‘ to us is about progressing above and beyond the confines of what is considered human, in the physical, psychological, and categorical sense.”

Posthuman track-listing
1. Human Carrying Capacity
2. Last Man
3. Sink
4. Temptation
5. Become a Machine
6. Call My Name
7. Unreality
8. Dissect Me
